Here is an interesting RUMOR about Coach K becoming Phil’s successor. While I doubt this, how would you guys feel about this?

Journal Times: A well-informed NBA informant insists that Lakers coach Phil Jackson will hang up the clipboard this summer and his successor could be Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski.

i dont think he will, he has already said he doesnt really want to coach in the nba and hes turned us down last time phil retired

..but he also built a bond with Kobe during the Olympics…so maybe..I wouldn’t mind Coach K runnin’ the Lakers.

  • TOUCHING_MYSELF

Well, I can see Coach K changing his tune having won the gold in the Summer Olympics and also with the stupid @$$ age limit rule that the NBA is enforcing. This rule is totally killing the college game! Teams are all discombobulated with the 1 and done guys! Some programs are gonna see sanctions by the NCAA like USC and what Tim Floyd has done with OJ Mayo, Memphis with Derrick Rose and countless others.

Duke used to be a premier program where they’re always in the top 3 and now they’re all over the place! Unless the NBA changes this rule, I can see this as the thing that forces Coach K’s hand to finally come over to the NBA.

Great job Stern… keep up the good work! Way to kill the college game and having your refs being accountable for making good consistent calls! How many other Fosters and Donaghys do you have in the league any way? D!ck!

PJ is the best. Hope he leads us to a 3peat!

  • Diggah_dalakerfan

The Stank isnt even off the parade and here is a rumor?? I think PJ is coming back and the only way the party keeps coming is with him as coach…..1 more year PJ!! 1 more year!!

  • Bring_PJ back

    we need PJ!!!

  • Eidraq

i think phil is awesome and we should try keeping him as long as we can, HOWEVER, after phil? i would welcome coach k with open arms

  • Tanya O’Neal

Phil needs to come back because he wins his rings in threes!
I see two more coming and I don’t Kobe will leave at all!! Especially with the supporting cast he has now. If Phil does decide to quit ( on top no doubt ) Kobe will still stay with the Lakers!!

  • lakerschamps-09

yea i think we shud keep PJ as long as he wants coach! then byron scott, coack k or brain shaw but keep pj until hes done

  • Nick

WE have to get the three peat first…then if Phil Wants to step down, then Coach K would be great..

  • willow

Nah forget that little garden gnome! We got some assistant coaches that have been there through it all. B-Shaw aka the Larry O’Brien trophy, Kurt Rambis aka Clark Kent (although he doesn’t wear glasses anymore) I say we keep it in-house and within the organization. Last time we went and got a coach out of the organization, we all know how that turned out right Rudy Tomjanovich????

That’s only if Phil decides to ride off into the sunset.

  • gus26

i think phil is going to retire after next year.. because of health reasons.. i don’t see him ass the type to break a contract or retire in the middle of one.. but truth be told the nba life style is not an easy one durring the seson.. remember he didn’t make that last trip to portland… and today he didn’t ride on the busses.. he is really hoblling around.. and he never stands up anymore durring games.. not even to argue or anything.. in the finals sometimes he would stay in his seat when they called a time out.. with all that being said..

byron scott is headed into the last year of his contract this next year and rumor is there probably is no extension comming his way… (read it on hoopsworld.com)

  • will

If we get a new coach, he probably wouldn’t use the triangle offense, the system that they’ve been running since PJ has been there. Might cause some problems.

Coach K all the way baby

  • kaynam24

yea man.. phil’s health reasons is going to decide if he retires… cmon today announcers said he wasnt on da bus bcuz he cant get up da double decker bus anymore…thats like wat 8-10 stairs to get up? he must be hurting…

  • lakerfan81

If phil does retire this offseason, then you go in-house for a replacement. Changing systems when you are trying to repeat a championship is not a very good Idea. If phil reties while we still have this same group together then either Shaw or Rambis gets the job. After this current group is done then you can change systems and coaches. But changing systems in the middle of a possible dynasty is stupid.

  • I_L0VE_LA_GERMANY

IF PJ retires, i´d love to see coach K in LA. but even PJ´s getting old, it´s the best option at all! – just trading sasha…

  • What will be…

PJ has always been one who honor’s his contracts ect. and he has one season left on it, which means if his doctors give him a clean slate of health, I’m almost 100% sure he is coming back… Just needs the Dr.’s clearance first…

  • Fred A.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • Big Dick Nick

    Coach K would be a big upgrade…

  • KEVIN GARNETTS REAL INJURY WAS A.NAL TEARING

PHIL SHOULD COACH 1 MORE YEAR AND THEN BE A CO-HEAD COACH WITH RAMBIS OR WHOEVER! RAMBIS COULD TAKE OVER ON THE ROAD GAMES WHILE PHIL HANDLED THE HOME GAMES AND WITH THE TECHNOLOGIES WE HAVE TODAY HE COULD KEEP IN TOUCH WITH THE TEAM ON THE ROAD ANYWAY!

  • David

Our next head coach will be Kurt Rambis. He’s been under the tutelage of Phil for 5 years now and has learned the triangle offense. The transition from Phil to Rambis will be a smooth and easy one as the system is already set into place. Kind of like when George Seifert took over the 49ers.

p.j is gone and coach k to lakers and nolan richardson to duke, you will see
