kgball.jpgRosen talks about the KG situation. He likes KG to L.A. more than all the others. He makes some great arguments as to why:

Fox Sports: What with all the rumors, the affirmations, and the denials coming out of Minnesota, one thing is clear: The T-Wolves absolutely must trade Kevin Garnett.

The only other alternative is for Glen Taylor to start writing checks humongous enough to attract one or more blue-chip free agents like Chauncey Billups, Rashard Lewis, Vince Carter or Gerald Wallace. While doing this would certainly subject the Wolves to an equally humongous over-the-cap surcharge, necessity is often the forerunner of humongous profits. Since players do not receive paychecks during the playoffs, Taylor would probably recoup his expenditures should his team advance into the second round.

It’s all about priming the pump. Spending money to make money.

Barring this foray into adventurous capitalism, there will be no way for the Wolves to significantly enhance their roster by any other means. Dealing Mike James and Justin Reed for Juwan Howard is not nearly enough of a tweak for KG to regain his lost enthusiasm and relish playing another season in Minnesota. Nor do the Wolves have sufficient remaining chips to make a meaningful trade.

I just used this article in an earlier post. Charly and Phil are tight. This is great news PJ probably gave CR the heads up KG is LA bound so Rosen wrote an article about it. Like I said earlier no way Buss gives Luke all that money then decides to rebuild w/o Kobe and we all know the only thing that will make Mamba happy is the Big Ticket!

Odom and Bynum are too much to pay. Odom, coming off successful surgery, is prime for a breakout season. He is finally going to come out of the shadows of mediocrity and inconsistency to lead the Lakeshow to the finals. Bynum will start at center and, under Kareem’s impressive coaching, will blossom as the next Kareem, often impressing us with his sweet baby hook shot we’ve heard so much about. I also hope Kwame is not involved in this deal, as he is on the verge of an all-star season. His defense is already solid, and his soft touch will get even softer as he works his magic in the paint. Do not trade these guys for KG, it is too much!!!

I mean that the Lakers already have garnett. Garnett is just a matter of days away from putting on a Lakers uniform. Can’t you guys understand that the NBA is a show. They might as well change the name from NBA to WWE. Eveything is done for a reason. The NBA is trying to make money, i.e., the NBA Finals. There is noway LeBron and the Cavs were suppose to come out of the east, but they did, because the NBA tried to get higher ratings and they rigged it. The same thing with thw year before with overrated D – Wade and that faggot ass Shaq. The NBA rigged so that their two up and coming stars( D- Fake and LeBron ” I can not make a jump shot to save his life ” James)would make the NBA Finals just so they can make more money from ratings. They are doing the same thing with Garnett. The longer this thing goes on the more the NBA benifts from it.

Now that is a mistake waiting to happen. As soon as cancer Coby Karl gets lonely, he will call his father and give away all of the Lakers secrets, and the Nuggets will end up beating the Lakers in the regular season or the playoffs. RC, what gives man? You posted the above at least ten times now. First off, this is annoying by itself; second, you routinely resort to name calling, which is immature; third, you are contradicting yourself by saying that this article for which you grant five stars, predicts that KG will indeed become a Laker?

So why don’t you put MORE thought into MUCH less posts and prove yourself worthy of reading? I have seen you do it a few times and know you are capable, so let’s see the goods.

The same can be said about others, but you are the most guilty.

If more people were like Lakerfan81 and thought out their posts before clicking the “Submit” button, these blogs would be much more valuable.

Now as far as all the moves the Lakers have made the last two days looking like crap, my understanding is they are simply gathering the pieces required to make a viable move on KG, JO, etc. So before everyone panics at every move the Lakers make, think “How could this be worked in a trade package. AND for the love of God, read the details before reacting. Many of you went apeshit when you learned that Walton signed a six year, 30M deal until someone pointed out that he is making like 3.6M the first year of his contract. His contract is probably loaded with other types of stipulations that mostly favor the Lakers and we will not know about until they can officially talk about the details.

Ed24 – you’re too conspiracy for me! If the NBA (Stern) were orchestrating things the boring ass Spurs would never be in the title game when you could have the uptempo fun to watch Suns in. You do make good points that the NBA is star driven. They also need the Lakers. If the NBA has any say in this, and I’m not saying they do, Garnett will be in a Lakers uniform.

I agree that Garnett in L.A. is a done deal, but not exactly in the same way. L.A. has the only owner committed to paying all that $$$ to make it happen. Dallas could have, but they have Nowitzki and are already a top tier team. Like the Lakers landing Kareem, the picks for Magic, Worthy, and getting Shaq, I think getting a star like KG is pure luck and happenstance and many will think that the NBA had something to do with it, but it is pure luck.

Signing Luke Walton was a very bad move, in my view. He is not soft; he plays hard and with a lot of heart, but he’s just not that good. He’s a bench player. He’s never been a good shooter, until this year, where he was pretty good. But that might not continue; he’s not a very good defender, and the Lakers struggle defensively, and he can be a chemistry problem. Here’s why: almost every time the Lakers win a game when Kobe doesn’t shoot much – either because they are double-teaming him or the other team plays no defense – Luke makes comments about how “that’s how we need to play if we’re going to do anything” – in other words, Kobe, the best offensive player in the game, should shoot only a few times each game, even if he’s getting single-teamed, and just pass to Luke and others so that they can take contested shots. What nonsense. It’s quite annoying, if you follow closely and hear those comments from Luke; he makes them quite frequently. I really think that Vlade Radmanovich gives you more if he gets the playing time; Phil gave him almost no consistent playing time this year. In the two or three games where he got a lot of minutes, he put up big numbers. Check the stats. He’s more athletic, bigger and a better shooter. The fact that they spent this much money on a bench-type, Luke Walton, to make him the staple at forward is a bad move. They read too much into the performance of the team this year when he was injured; Kwame and Lamar were also out many of those games. There’s also a lot of hype around Luke because of his pagan dad, who also criticizes Kobe a lot because his son is one of his teammates and he wants to give Kobe’s teammates more credit.

good article!! i think charley rosen is right, the lakers are really the best place for garnett to be when compared to the other teams that wish to acquire him (phoenix, dallas, golden state). he would fit in well with phil jackson and the triangle offense because of his unselfish nature. it also reduces the bulk of scoring from kobe and gives him a very reliable and consistent partner (no offense to odom, love LO, but will have to go in order to get garnett). i think it will take a while to make such a deal happen, but if it does go through, then it was worth the wait i suppose. a garnett and kobe combo would be huge, and if this becomes realistic, then the lakers will have to also find a capable 3rd option since lamar will be gone. i suggest signing gerald wallace or perhaps persuade lewis to join if garnett and kobe are together.

if this does not happen, lakers must go after pau gasol. offer everone except kobe, odom, turiaf, farmar, crittenton, and luke. i would rather have pau than o’neal mostly because he is much cheaper and puts up just about the same numbers as o’neal does.

This writer is so damn right. It doesn’t make sense KG to go anywhere else other than LA. He fits so perfectly with Kobe, Phil Jackson and the Lakers. I think if KG decides to come to the Los Angeles Lakers, he definately won’t regret it. Kobe and Garnett on the same team, is just completely unstoppable, all you gotta do is put some decent role players around them, you got a championship contending team right there. I really hope this deal goes through and the other good thing is that Kevin McHale no longer has decision where Garnett is going to be traded to, it’s all up to the owner.

Rosen makes a compelling argument for sure. I hope that McHale reads it. He’s preaching to the convert in Lakerland. We know we have the best package available and will actually do the deal, kicker and all if necessary, even take back a crap contract, and sign KG to an extension. Nonetheless McHale isn’t even considering our offer. He’s on vacation. I’m not close to getting my hopes again on this one. The thing is the Lakers will not do any other deals until they know they absolutely can’t get KG. I can’t totally blame them for that, but I do think they’re dreaming because these guys turned us down already and nothing has changed in terms of what we can offer. It’s too bad because KG would be a great fit but as the saying goes it takes two . . .

Realistically though, all you pundits who are arguing KG at any price, how is giving up half our team for KG so worth it when JO for the likes of Odom and Bynum is overpaying? You have to really explain that one to me. Remember too, that as much a baller as KG is, do you think he’s going to handle big guys like Duncan on D better than JO? I don’t. To get KG now at 29 mill coming in we will give up Lamar, Bynum, Brown, and probably some others such as Farmar and maybe Evans. Minny won’t even consider Vlad Rad so dont’ get your hopes up about that. We will be very strapped financially as well after doing the deal. And we may have to take back a contract, too, such as Jaric.

All along this whole time the Lakers have had the best offer than any other team. Yeah, all these teams had better pieces but they all had players or even Garnett’s own contract get in the way. Phoenix wouldn’t move Amare and I don’t blame them. KG didn’t want to play for Boston and Boston had the best deal on the table. Aside from the weak players the Lakers do have to offer, their deal is by far the best so far because Jerry Buss supposedly is willing to take on that huge salary KG brings and is willing to spend the extra money on luxury tax. I said I wouldn’t comment on Luke, but for all those Luke supporters who always yell LLLUUUUKKKEEE when Luke receives the ball (yeah I’m talking about you sitting on your sofa not even in Staples Center), get over that guy, he isn’t a starter and he isn’t worth that much. Yeah he’ll get 3.75 mill his first year but I’d rather piss that money on someone better seeing we don’t even have a contending team let alone a 2nd round playoff team. He is the best role player we have but we gotta stop making dumb moves like these.

[quote comment="5049"]All along this whole time the Lakers have had the best offer than any other team. Yeah, all these teams had better pieces but they all had players or even Garnett’s own contract get in the way. Phoenix wouldn’t move Amare and I don’t blame them. KG didn’t want to play for Boston and Boston had the best deal on the table. This is ridiculous!!!! Kwame is a bust he will not improve, Bynum may improve but not much, Odom has already hit the peak of his career and Luke the new most overpaid player in the NBA, Luke is everything a non-playoff team would want, slow, doesn’t do dirty work, is a soft player and will not ever develop into a star. The Lakers just pick up all has been players and some tha t never were. Rosen is a good friend to Phil and even helped Phil write his book so of course he is leaning to KG being a Laker. But truth is even Rosen said on ESPN Radio today that they DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO TRADE FOR KG!!!!! Get over it, Lakers are not going to get him.

Bucher is the biggest idiot, After reading that article, I can only pray that the Lakers get KG and if they do, I will Celebrate. For now though, at least all hope isn’t dead as everyone like that douche bag Bucher (aka Puker which i like to call him) says and until the Lakers themselves say it’s dead, I will still hold out hope. Props to Charley Rosen for a good article and for those that hate him or think he’s a heavy laker fan, all i can say is screw those haters because I have read alot of Rosen articles and he clearly isn’t bias in favoring one team.
