Another kind act by Ron, but its for his daughter which can be understood.

MTV: Right outside Kanye West’s dressing room — before his big performance at Sunday night’s (September 12) Video Music Awards — NBA All-Star and World Champion Los Angeles Lakers forward Ron Artest was sitting down on the floor with his arms on his knees. When asked why he wasn’t sitting in a seat, Ron smiled a huge grin. “I gave my ticket to my daughter,” he told MTV News backstage. “She wanted to see the show. I didn’t get to see it. I let her go. It’s all about her.” While the VMAs were held at the Nokia Theatre, right next door to the Lakers’ home, the Staples Center, Ron Ron said he wasn’t interested in calling in any special favors. “Nah man, I’m good,” he laughed.

  • 242LakerFan

Ron probably had just as much fun hanging backstage anyway!

666fakerfan…if your looking for work ron needs a fluffer, right up any laker fans alley.its your calling laker kobe lover.FLUFFER.

    • keepon_keepinon18

You seem to be the one looking for work laffs atu, considering how much time you spend going out of your way to write a “witty” comment.

  • keepon_keepinon18

Ron seems so different from just 2 years ago! The more I read about him these days, the more unbelievable it seems to me that I saw him Kobe jawing at each other in the Playoffs.

    • http://www.twitter.com/TLN24 Marwan Marzina

As Ron said, that was just 2 great competitors going at it. The moment you step on the court, you have no friends.

      • keepon_keepinon18

Yeah Marwan, I am so glad that Kobe’s competitors join his team respecting his game, compared to how players took pay cuts to join the Heat team because of the thought of being part of a “dynasty” (3 young superstars).

**Each way does work though, don’t get me wrong**

I’m just saying you’d probably feel more confident joining with Kobe, someone you have competed and lost against at a personal level, than LeBron who you’ve lost against just because he beat you.

    • Djzzero2009

Its a competitive game, no one is friends. But outside of the court they were always friends. People think that them talking crap they werent friends at all and saying they wont work together, sadly no one knew they were good friends. Not saying you didn’t know talking about other fans who didn’t know.

      • keepon_keepinon18

I know! Ron just cracks me up xD

  • p a

You’ve just got to love this guy.

You a faggot too so You really lost and for you to hate Kobe you stay Jockin him

  • Robert.

OK, nice article. Can we see a blog title concerning Lamar Odom’s fabulous FIBA performance, and the fact that the USA team won the title?

  • laker fan for life and death

way to go La Mar … Keeping rolling dude.

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

the main reason they won is some tired old gunner finally gave a new gun a chance….if the would of gotten a nickel, greedy bryant would of ruined everything.

    • 242LakerFan

“if the would of gotten a nickel, greedy bryant would of ruined everything.”
What country are you doing your time in, Miss atu? Because English is obviously not your first language. Surely, if you are in a US prison, you can get an English as a Second Language class.
Could you please translate that for us?

  • Robert.

Again, TLN, where’s the article about Lamar Odom? If anyone saw his performance in Turkey – well, it was impressive! He played ‘starting center’ and did a fine job on defense. This SHOULD BE reported here.
    .
Instead, this has become a “Laker’s gossip” site. Sure it’s great what Ron Artest’s kid is doing, and Matt Barnes domestic situation …. BUT ….
    .
Lamar Odom is a LAKER, and ‘represented’ on Team USA. And …. his story is about … BASKETBALL ..
    .
    C’mon, man !!

    • 242LakerFan

You’re right, Robert. I’ve been waiting for something to appear all day. This is rather disappointing.

    • bostonSUCKS88

Agree. i think the problem is that TLN gets all of its stories from other sources. There should be a TLN writer who can write stories like that. Guess there’s no one to do that job right now

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

really robert, la-pipe showed up finally…………if its play hard or hang with kong……i`de play hard too.

  • i0ioooooi0i

damn, ron’s antics at an ‘awards’ show over lamar odom’s gold medal-winning performance in the world championships. speechless.

  • Flow

Man, this Laker team with Lamar Odom playing at an all star level, a healthy Andrew Bynum, Pau Gasol resting, transitioning from D. Fish to Steve Blake, happy Ron Artest, Rugged Matt Barnes, Luke Walton hopefully retiring and Sasha knowing he has to play well, Shannon, Theo Ratliff and of course the black mamba and Phil Jax… will be scary next year. There will probably be a lockout, but not before we win our third in a row.

    • Robert.

I’ll mention this here (since TLN doesn’t seem to have a place for this now):
      .
We should notice that playing in the World Championships / Olympics somehow gives players a ‘new perspective’, and they can have a breakout year after these World games. Actually case in point is Carmelo (2008 Olympics), who went to West Finals against the Lakers in 2009, and LeBron (same Olympics) who had 2 consecutive 60+ win seasons. Playing Euro-ball toughens up players, and lets many players test out different styles of play in ‘high levels’ of execution (not just scrimmaging with the same team in practice).
      .
So, based on that, I believe that several on this year’s Gold Medal team team are going to have a great year. Certainly watch out for Kevin Durant – I think he will have 35+ points avg. for the season. Eric Gordon is another – his scoring average was very high during these games.
      .
But more importantly, I believe L.O. is going to have a great (possibly breakout?) year this upcoming year. He got to play ‘veteran forward/center’, and created a stabilizing force on the Gold Medal USA team. In fact, he was moved from forward to ‘starting center’, and played that position VERY well, in spite of giants (larger centers) on various teams. He has added more skill to his skill set, and we’re going to see some scary play from him this year.

      • bostonSUCKS88

lets hope so. but if he can just duplicate what he did last season then ill be happy. he averaged 10 and 10 off the bench. ill take that anyday

      • Robert.

Yes! You’re right! 10/10 is great. And also now, he has a better bench to work with this upcoming year.

      • 242LakerFan

Thanks, Robert. I’ve tired of waiting for TLN to pot something on Lamar and team USA.
I noticed that the announcers in the championship game had great things to say about Lamar’s contribution not being shown in the numbers. He showed a lot of leadership and willingness to do a lot of the things that don’t produce stats. His defensive work, hindering a lot of the bigger, stronger int’l centers. His calming, steadying influence on the team on and off the court.
These are things he can fold into his game and really contribute to the Lakers this year. I think with what he has learned in this WC experience, and the off-season acquisitions, we could end up with a genuine second team coming off the bench with him as its captain.
Should be really fun to watch!

  • zgum

A blog concerning USA basketball winning gold and Lamar?

  • Robert.

OK, I do have a quote that can be used on TLN, from espn – actually, from a columnist I tend to despise, Bill Simmons. But as I usually say, keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
    .
Anyway, he had good things to say about Lamar:
    .
“One reason I bet against USA three weeks ago: Lamar Odom just started at center and lost the jump ball. He’s not even the third-best center on his own NBA team. Then again, he’s been a revelation these past few weeks, holding his own against bigger players and reminding everyone that, “Hey, if this is the FOURTH-best player on the Lakers, we might not want to hand over the 2010-11 title to Miami yet.”
    BS
    .
OK, we can use that quote, and comment on that. This is going to make for an exciting year!

    • 242LakerFan

Thanks for the quote Robert. Good lookin out. That is a hell of a statement, especially coming from ole BS himself! I mean, we all knew this, of course, but for a dyed-in-the-wool hater like Simmons to admit it is really saying something!

      • river raider

@242………………………..I don’t know if you ever check out the twitter pages, but if you do, check out shannon browns, I little update, plus he’s talking about how him, Ratliff, and Ebanks, and caracter are puttin in time, and the rookies are picking up the triangle pretty good. And by the way, you got any info on bynum, is he gonna be ready for training camp?

        • 242LakerFan

I follow Shannon and Devin and now DC as well. I was glad to see they’ve already started working out together. Devin seems really anxious to contribute. It’s great.
As for Bynum, the couple of mentions I’ve seen say his rehab is right on schedule and he’s doing his core training. I think he’ll be ready to go.

  • Mr Kb

This is the first time I’ve posted with a criticism, but I feel it’s appropriate, . . . .. I don’t give a flyin f&*$% about Rons VMA ticket. Lamar brings home a gold medal as a co-captain on the USA team and this is all you guys give me to read about? Thank you for nothing.

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

la-pipe has no backbone….when mr give me the damn ball is in the game, pipe freezes.
