Ariza and his agent will meet with the Rockets. His agent hints at a possible 5-year deal…

My Fox Houston: Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey and Head Coach Rick Adelman are in Las Vegas Thursday meeting with free agent forward Trevor Ariza according to his agent David Lee in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.

“Your general manager and coach are meeting with Trevor (Thursday),” Lee said. “Trevor and Rick spoke by phone (Wednesday).

“This is a five-year commitment. It’s important for Trevor to go to a place where he his wanted and can contribute.”

According to Lee, Houston would be a perfect fit.

“The Rockets have liked Trevor for a long time,” Lee said. “They covet what he can do.”

Lee said he has already received a number of offers, most of them are the mid-level exception.

“But two of three of those offers are more than that,” Lee said.

Lee said Ariza is getting more and more interest every day because, until recently, most teams believed the Los Angeles Lakers were not going to let him go.

If they want Ariza we can make a deal ariza for artest

  • RJ

    I mean Artest for Ariza

His agent is a joke, at this point Ariza can just walk away. The Rockets can only offer the MLE, exactly what we’re offering. If he’s going to leave for the same amount of money, just to spit us then I say let him walk.

Go to Houston he’ll suffer. There’s no one on the Rockets that commands a double team, so Ariza won’t get those open looks anymore. Rockets don’t even get out on the fast break, so he won’t dunk as much either. Whatever, so be it

  • Lakers 24 7

Ariza will regret it if he leaves the Lakers.

I love Ariza but he will be exposed on the Rockets. He will not fit that system at all from an offensive standpoint.

  • BringDFishBack

I’m so sick of hearing all these lies from his agent. It’s so obvious that he has no offers above the MLE, and he continually contradicts himself. The Rockets have liked him for a long time, yet they are just now trying to get in on this? If they’ve liked him so long, they would have been pursuing him from the beginning of free agency. I don’t blame Mitch at all for playing hardball because David Lee is bluffing so bad. If he does end up leaving, that’s too bad because I really wanted him to stay but there’s no point in overbidding. He’s clearly only gotten offers for the same as what the Lakers offered, and he and his agent have both said he’d prefer LA over anywhere else.

Lakers playing hardball with LO & Ariza. Ariza and his agent were disappointed by the Lakers’ annual offer of $5.6 million over an unspecified number of years. Ariza, 24, was hoping for $7 million to $8 million a year. Odom, 29, is believed to be seeking $10 million a year, though it was unclear what the Lakers offered him.

The Lakers also spoke with Shannon Brown’s agent, but the talks produced no movement.

  • LakersFirst

The Lakers know the economy is tough on all teams and that very few teams can offer huge contracts. They are using that to their advantage.

“It’s important for Trevor to go to a place where he his wanted and can contribute.”

It’s important for Trevor to go to a place where he his wanted and can win a championship.

  • Sean All Ivy

Don’t teams realize that he can’t create his own offense?

  • Come On Trevor, You’re Better Than That

    David Lee :(

  • trevorariza1

    Yes i am leaving LA!

  • what will be

No worries Artest or Grant Hill can blossom in the Triangle, when Kobe has 2 or 3 guys on him they will be wide open, not to mention the option inside with Pau and Bynum…Ariza won’t have that luxary on any other team other than the Cavs…

  • arizaallstar

ariza you were my fave player last year and i thought you bleed puple and gold guess blood is not thicker then water you were loved in l.a. but pasa lo que pasa cant win them all can you ARTEST if trevor leaves your welcome in l.a. come talk to us

  • xtro

Don’t do it Trevor. You belong here.

  • kb24mvp

why would trevor want to leave hes from la and he has potential to get more rings with la

  • Mr. WoodCock

“According to Twitter posts from Adrian Wojnarowski, the Rockets met with Trevor Ariza in Las Vegas on Thursday and are expected to offer a multi-year deal at the mid-level exception.

The deal would not preclude Houston from also keeping Ron Artest, according to sources.”

Seems all clubs are only offering him the MLE. Only two teams under the cap are Toronto and Portland. Portland is chasing Turkajew and Toronto is chasing Lee(NYK), so where does that leave Ariza?

  • p a

Perfect fit to Houston? Just how dumb is TA’s agent? Ariza just won a ring with the Lakers. Ain’t anything better than that. Just what is this agent’s definition of a perfect fit?

  • Mr. WoodCock

Good news… Artest coming to LA

“Ron Artest has told Ken Berger of that he will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I’m definitely going to L.A. — to sign, yeah,” Artest said in a phone interview. “Lakers, Lakers, Lakers. I’m in L.A. right now.”

Artest said he met with Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss Thursday and previously had spoken with Lakers coach Phil Jackson. He was en route to his financial manager’s office, where he planned to huddle on the phone with his agent, David Bauman, to finalize details.”

  • FreakinCrod

Good riddance! You want to be a greedy bastard then go ahead and leave. You were born and raised in LA, and supposedly “bleed purple and gold” but think you’re too good for the Lakers? Please. Now we have Ron Ron and you can watch our championship parade from wherever the hell you are next season. Loser.

  • demoney2291

You need a new agent , David Lee is a loser ou got the same MLE that everyone was offering , you wanted the lakes to overpay now thas being a team player , they overpaid last year when they raised you up to 3mil for nothing last year. By the way everyone . Bynums new contract does not kick in til the upcoming season so we dont know that we have overpaid for him just yet give it time,
