Are the Lakers really this good or are the Nuggets that bad?

Today, the Lakers cruised to a 108-84 victory over the Nuggets to take a commanding 3-0 series lead. The only question left is, will the Lakers win it in 4 games or back at home on Wednesday?

The Nuggets, once a team that scored 168 points in a game against Seattle, were held to half of that today on 37% shooting. The Lakers forced 16 turnovers compared to their 8. It’s strange that the Lakers were outrebounded by 14 and they still won convincingly.

The Nuggets stars A.I. and Melo were held to just 10 of 38 FGs in the game. The Lakers had 5 players score double figures and were led by Kobe with only 22. Even Mbenga scored!

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) Kobe followed the brilliant Game Two with 22 points on 9-19 shooting. He also had 7 boards and 8 assists. The only downer was his 1-8 three point shooting.

2) Luke continues to baffle me. 15 points on 6-7 shooting, 5 boards, 5 assists, a steal, and a block.

3) Pau had 14 points, 5 assists, and 3 blocks. He did what we needed.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): Vlad Rad played poor again with his 2-9 shooting. He did tie for the lead in boards with 7.

Play of the Game: Kobe’s quick 9 points in the 3rd quarter.

What to Look for Next Game: Look for a lot of broom sticks in the stands. Lakers Nation was represented today!

Game is Monday @ 7:30 PM.

what steve no std for kb today? i hope your done with sht!!!!!!!

  • darkice18

Vlade played awesome DEFENSE on Melo, he deserves to be in top 3! and LUUUKE has finally arrived…its time to get out your brooms fellas…lets clean out these chicken Nuggets :p

  • Thomas

I was about to say that the Nuggets were going to come out and play with a passion but they were supposed to do that tonite and that didn’t happen so I don’t think it will happen in Game 4. I even thought that the Lakers would win in 5 but this Nuggets team is horrible and don’t want it. Did you hear Marv Albert say that the Nuggets players were watching the NFL draft during halftime…no commitment

  • nyla

Well, I was wrong. I had us winning in 6. It looks like its a wrap Monday though!

  • nyla

    102 – 84 not 108 – 84

This Dingleberry guy is the same person who desperately wanted Zach Randolph for LO. The kobe call took guts but was the right call.

  • Johnc135

Well certainly when a person scores a game high in points, grab 7 rebound and 8 assists deserve the STD… that was funny man.

Anyway, I do love how the Lakers surgically dissect the Nugget today, just like Stu said, they pulled the plug, and it is a collective team effort, yet again :)

  • Laaffiliation024

    was kobe 1-6 or 1-8 for 3’s?

  • Sako

[Comment ID #34108 Will Be Quoted Here]

Ya, i guess you’re right, Kobe is the perfect basketball player. Never misses any shots. He holds whoever guarding to double digits in turnovers & 0 field-goals made. He intimidates opposing players while he’s on the bench. Perfect. 100% all 48 min. of the game.

  • youknowwhatitis

did you guys see Phil Jackson and Brian Shaw simultaneously yelled “SHUT THE FU CK UP” at Najera after Jackson called a timeout in the 2nd quarter to check up on Odom’s shoulder? That fu cker then goes on to elbow Sasha in the throat.

  • RD

the nuggbiches got the azz woopin they deserved! i have lost respect for most of there players, including kenyon martin, jr smith, najera, and melo. bring out the dust pans and brooms, sweep these losers up and pack our bags, cuz we’re going to utah [or houston]!

  • 007

Vlade played respectable defense on Melo today. I don’t see why he should be the worst player today ;S.

  • Ignard

I agree with 007 & darkice 18, Vlad played some D on Melo, it’s not always about the scoring on this team, somebody else mentioned that he tied for the most rebounds to. Raise your hands if you feel like a retard for talking crap about Luke who by the way has been dealing with a bad wheel all season, KEEP IT UP LUKE!

  • Ed2424

Luke Walton sucks and he’ll prove it in the next series. He’s just lucky that no one can match up with him on the Nuggets.

  • Scarface

    have some respect for Kobe.
how are you the STD of the game if you lead the team with points and assists and tied for the most rebounds?

  • Scarface

what in the hell are you trying to say?

  • keep24

    You’re a f u c k i n g idiot!!!!

What are you talking about you dingleberry???

What more does KB have to do to earn respect. The guy has more assists than anyone else. He has changed is game completely for the good of the team.

AND, and above all, he is responsible for Lakers being as good as they are.

Had he not lit a fire under the a$$es of all those sorry a$$ players from last year, as well as the Lakers front office, the Lakers would not be in the great shape that they are right now.

  • DingleBerry

[Comment ID #34134 Will Be Quoted Here]

It was a sarcastic comment i made. Kb should never be std because he does so much for the team even if the box score doesnt show it. You will always have f.a.g.s like ab4sure that will try to bring kb down, but here at the lakernation we know how valuble he is to us.

  • KONG!

Everyone needs to STFU and bring a broom to the next game!

    LOL the Celtics couldn’t close-out against a sub-500 team!

  • Sako

[Comment ID #34134 Will Be Quoted Here]

on game 1. Kobe got the std, & dingle barry was complaining about it, even though is was clear that he deserved it, he had a bad shooting night.

  • Sako

And just to let all you of you know, Kobe is my favorite player. To me, Kobe is the best player in the league, and he deserves MVP.

  • iLakers

[Comment ID #34140 Will Be Quoted Here]

Lakers up 3-0…and we sound like a bunch of byotches crying about how Kobe had an off nite.

What the hell is an STD!?!…isn’t that a F-en disease.

Stop complaining about who played poorly and lets enjoy how this Laker team is taking this weak Denver team apart.

and Steve Avery has an STD (or is the STD…whatev)

  • keep24

    Listen up dingbats:

Kobe and his passion (regardless of his shooting percentage on any given night) are the key elements for how good this team is.

Did you guys see how The MVP came out in the third quarter and shot 4 of 5 to close the deal?

    That’s how you do it!!!

KB, the basketball player is second to none.

Special shout out to KB for not only bringing his skills and his killer instinct but also his never ending passion for winning!

Nuggets don’t play defense, they don’t move the ball, and they don’t listen to their coach, their coach already gave up on them, he doesn’t give a fuck if he’s letting them watch the NFL Draft at halftime, it’s the playoffs and they’re acting like it’s pre-season shit, thats why the Nuggets wont make it anywhere, they talk big but can’t back shit up, I hope we sweep em so they shut the fuck up

  • Lakers 24 7

    Previous Post (Clean Version lol)

Nuggets don’t play defense, they don’t move the ball, and they don’t listen to their coach, their coach already gave up on them, he doesn’t give a f*ck if he’s letting them watch the NFL Draft at halftime, it’s the playoffs and they’re acting like it’s pre-season sh*t, thats why the Nuggets wont make it anywhere, they talk big but can’t back sh*t up, I hope we sweep em so they shut the f*ck up

Yea i heard that, and then George Karl got pissed when people said that the Nuggets play with no halftime. He said to wait till the end of the game to make comments…i think that the nuggets played better before the half.

  • Ignard

I was thinking the same thing e. Hey let’s not argue with each other save that for the haters.

You need to check your facts before you start spreading lies. Bynum, Farmar, sasha, and other lakers improved becuase they worked their asses off not becuase of kobe’s comments. Stop worshipping a player and be more objective. Kobe is MVP not GOD.

Here is what PJ said which goes against your points.

So all things considered, were Bryant’s harsh words this summer just the catalyst for change the Lakers needed? Not according to his head coach Phil Jackson.

When asked if Bryant’s words ended up serving as motivation for his team, Jackson replied: “No. No I don’t.

  • DingleBerry

[Comment ID #34189 Will Be Quoted Here]

why didn’t they work there asses off before bryants comments? coincidence i think not!!!!!

  • ab4sure

[Comment ID #34193 Will Be Quoted Here]

Phil Jackson gives the credit to Bynum, Sasha, and Farmar and the rest of the Lakers. Remember they are young players who have developed as all young players do. Is that something you never thought of? Remember Kobe… he also had to work on his game. Do you give the credit to Shaq for kobe working out. I think not. nor should you. kobe gets credit for his development… other laker players deserve the same credit. Stop worshipping at the altar… Kobe is MVP NOT GOD.

You have the nerve to call me a… This is what you wrote to a week ago trying to make a proposition. What a homo you are.

Your probably still on your knees reading this so here is a suggestion since you like to make homo comments. Change your name to John Amechi and perhaps you will meet someone more your type. Someone who is a fudge packer like you. Now… go back to your favorite movie “Brokeback Mountain”. You probably use that movie to give you a lift you fudge packer…. lmao…

  • west213

take it easy dude… don’t get your panties all up in a bunch your boyfriend wont like it

  • ab4sure

You can’t prove your point becuase you know Phil Jackson disagrees with you along with common sense which you have none. Think next time. Ok fudge packer… take your homosexual tendencies to john amechi.. I am sure he could satisfy you.. LOL

  • Thomas

I love it how they’ve come up with a title for each of the series…lets say we play Utah, what will that title be?

  • George

Can’t wait till the game tommorow, if the Lakers win it’ll be the only sweep in the 1st round. They would get more rest than the other teams. As for the worst player of the game, I don’t see how that was Rad. His shooting wasn’t good but the defense he played on Carmelo Anthony was incredible, he shut him out in the 2nd half when the Lakers made a run.

  • kobe-wan kenobi

AB the comon sense is that bynum in the previous 2 years was not a hard worker and also pjax was complaining about that…
so if u really think that kobe’s comments were not useful, u r a real biased kobe hater!
since even bynum said that what kobe said made him work harder!!!!
    so STFU!!!!!

  • ab4sure

Kenobi PJ says Kobe doesn’t deserve the credit that your so willing to give him. Looks like your the bias one. A seventeen or 18 years old kid who didn’t work hard enough was completely overblown last year. One practice doesn’t make you lazy person. Did you listen to Bynum’s exit interview last yr when he hired a trainer for his summer workout and talked about his goals of being an allstar in his 4 yr. Which is next year btw… He just might reach that. Maybe Bynum did an extra set on the bench press or an extra wind sprint but to give Bryant the credit for his improvement totally disrespects Bynum and goes against what PJ and the FO know for a fact. Stop riding kobe and be alittle more objective as a laker fan. Kobe is MVP not GOD.

Again dingleberry… you have no points to make and when you do make points they are usually a bunch of crap… so dingleberry is a very good name for you. How embarrassing it must be to have that name. But at least the name fits the person.

Denver needs some cleaning up……TIME TO SWEEP!
