Pietrus’ has a master plan to stopping Kobe – we might be in trouble!

ESPN: “The only thing I can do is try to minimize his touches in the fourth quarter,” Pietrus said, according to the Sentinel. “He’s a tremendous player and those guys you can not stop them. So maybe I can say, ‘Hey, stop, Kobe! Yo! Stop!’ Maybe that’s the only way I can stop him. ‘Stop for a minute!’

Additionally he talks about replacing the Kobe shoes he has been wearing all season for Jordan’s.

Pietrus, a shooting guard who also helped defend LeBron James in the Eastern Conference finals, has worn a pair of basketball sneakers endorsed by Bryant during games this season, the Orlando Sentinel reported.

But now that the Magic are facing the Lakers in the NBA Finals, which start Thursday (ABC, 8:30 p.m. ET), Pietrus is ditching his Kobe kicks for something a little more old school, according to the report. “I have [Kobe shoes ] at my house, but I’m going to play with Michael Jordan shoes,” Pietrus said, the newspaper reported.

kobe is gonna tear poor pietrius up with or without kobe’s shoes on. The only way he can stop kobe is if he pulls a tanya harding before the game( and that probably still won’t work ). GO LAKERS…
    LAKERS IN 6!!!

Pietrus is a mad defender with mad defensive skills! Did you see what he did against Lebron? He held him to 38+ ppg. What an amazing stopper he is. I would be shaking in my MJ’s if I was Kobe!

*in case you didn’t figure it out already, that was sarcasm.

Pietrius is to Magic what Posey was to Boston in my opinion.

I’m not worried about anyone guarding Kobe. He’s seen the toughest defenses in the league in my opinion. He’ll be ready for anything the Magic throw at him.

That being said, I love Pietrius. I like the fact you can tell he’s a huge Kobe fan.

i can appreciate his humor, at least he realizes that he’s about to be humiliated for the next 2 weeks.

the only thing that makes LBJ “unguardable” is he speed off the dribble. he can’t create his own shot, he lacks creativity and variety. Pietrus is about to be the first student of Kobe’s summer clinics.

At least he acknowledges that he can’t do anything to stop Kobe.

Lol I think everyone except for Chris Manning can’t interpret what’s being said in the article. Pietrus is a Kobe fan, and said himself there’s no way he can stop Kobe.

That being said, everytime Kobe’s name goes out there, don’t be so quick to attack the opposing force if you can’t even understand what’s being said.

exactly what i was thinking…tremendous respect for the guy, and despite the fact that he did have lebron score all those points in the ecf, he did not shoot the ball as high as he would have other wise and forced quite a few turnovers…but kobe’s a different beast and as the nike commercial states, kobe is un-stop-p-able

He should leave the shoes on. Maybe Kobe will pitty him. Doubt it though.

If you didn’t notice, Chris Manning is the one who made the post to the website. As a staff member, he’s obviously not going to be as sarcastic as we were all being.

If I were paid millions of dollars to guard the Mamba, I would definitely wear my Zoom Kobes. I would wear all of them, one each game, so he could sign them afterwards.

    That’s funny^^^

  • Al The Laker fan you should meet

The thing is Pietrus and Kobe are familiar with each other…Mikael playing with Golden state was consistently torched by KB24 . The whole thin alot of these reporters are forgetting is that Kobe is effective creating other shots for other players Kobe’s game is refined more than any player in the league I really didnt consider Pietrus a good defender until I watched him play against Lebron. He tried valiantly against him but a Defensive stopper..Nah I think not. We already saw the best defensive player in Shane Battier but he got torched also.
