Well if the Zen Master says so…

ESPN: While two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference worked on major (Cleveland acquiring Antawn Jamison) and somewhat minor (Boston involved in Nate Robinsondiscussions) moves Wednesday, the best team in the West, the Los Angeles Lakers, remain satisfied standing pat.

When Lakers coach Phil Jackson was asked if he’s had any discussions with general manager Mitch Kupchak about new trade offers on the table, he said the conversations have been about other teams in the league and not the Lakers as Thursday’s 12 noon PT NBA trade deadline draws near.

“Not us,” Jackson said. “We don’t seem to have anything going on in our arena. Everything seems to be going on everywhere else, so we just talk about that.”

Lakers forward Pau Gasol, who was traded from Memphis to Los Angeles close to the trade deadline two seasons ago, said that all of the trade speculation hasn’t seeped its way into the L.A. locker room despite the fact that Lakers reserves Sasha Vujacic and Adam Morrison have been rumored to be on the block in a three-team deal with Chicago and Portland that would bring the Bulls’ Kirk Hinrich to Los Angeles.

“On our team there’s been talk about a player or two being moved but I guess there’s always teams calling at this time of year about players and then calling back and seeing what they got and see if that’s of interest to you,” Gasol said. “It’s just part of the business and part of our league.”

this was written by dave mcmenamin. we already know this and the lakers will regret it later on. Why wouldnt it be nice to adress our lack of:

    -pg issues
    -outside shooting
    -backup small forward
    -bench depth

-all the while shipping out players on our bench that aren’t effective. O well, maybe cleveland wants it a little more mitch….

    • nope

I’m sure Mitch would love to pull the trigger but it isn’t that easy to unload salary. The Hinrich trade can’t go through because NO ONE WANTS SASHA

Lakers WILL repeat if healthy. No doubt we did it last year (with the exception of Ron-Ron) we’ll do it again.
