Phil Jackson plans on returning as Lakers coach

Phil plans to return to the Lakers (based off health test results)

O.C. Register: Phil Jackson made clear he intends to return as Lakers coach if he has no new health issues discovered in upcoming medical checkups.

“There’s no doubt,” Jackson said.

I asked him about his feeling during the champagne bath he was lured into upon winning in Orlando, and he said of these players who have meant so much to him: “Their joy was passed on to me.”

It is 2:35 p.m. now, and Jackson just came down the stairs from the Lakers’ executive offices with Jeanie Buss. He gave a thumbs-up and was outta here … but only for a while.

Stay healthy Phil. Remember one thing. 1991-1993/3peat, 1996-1998/3peat, 2000-2002/3peat, 2009-end your career with a 3peat.

agreed. this team could win 6 more

PJ is instrumental for the Lakers success. He is just a perfect fit for the Lakers.
Hopefully his health will be OK and he can at least be our coach for the next 2 to 3 years.
I like Byron Scott too but I think it will take a time to adjust to his philosophy. So for that reason PJ is the Zen Master and he should stay with our team as long as he can.

Los Angeles is a big city with big lights, big media, and big distractions. PJ’s philosophy and style of coaching is one that grounds a team that plays in this type of environment. I hope he stays with us for 2 more championships.

maybe phil can come back and not go on the teams long road trips. this helps phil stay healthy and it grooms rambis as the coach of the future, that is something i would like to see

  • LEADERFISH

Yes Phil is returning is there any doubt about it.

He confirmed what most of us already knew, thank you Phil. Now on to the free agents! Let’s get these guys signed already! It’s driving me insane knowing that they could potentially leave the team!

  • What will be…

As long as PJ get’s a clear bill of health after each season, he should remain Kobe’s coach through out his prime… It’s that simple… PJ and the Lakers is a flawless combo…

I LIKE WHERE YOU’RE GOING WITH THAT, BUT I’VE GOTTA ADD SOMETHING TO IT. I DON’T WANT HIM TO 3-PEAT THIS TIME, I WANT A 4-PEAT! THIS WAY, IT’S THE 1ST 4-PEAT IN HIS CAREER AND SOMETHING THAT HE DIDN’T DO WITH JORDAN. IT’LL ALSO BE GREAT FOR KOBE BECAUSE IT’LL GIVE HIM A 4-PEAT, SOMETHING THAT JORDAN’S NEVER DONE AND IT’LL PUT KOBE PAST JORDAN WITH THE NUMBER OF RINGS! EVEN THOUGH JORDAN WILL STILL HAVE 6 FINALS MVP, BUT IT’LL PROBABLY ALSO GIVE KOBE 4 FINALS MVP IN A ROW, SOMETHING ELSE THAT JORDAN’S NEVER DONE!

GOOD HEALTH TO PHIL!!!!! GOOD LUCK MITCH, IN FIGURING OUT THE CONTRACTS FOR ODOM, ARIZA, AND BROWN IN THE SUMMER!!!!!!! GOOD REST IN THE OFF SEASON KOBE!!!!!!! AND GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW TEAM SASHA!!!!!!!!!

^^^^^ well said… i love it.. but lets jus get 2 in a row n take it from there… champs2010

  • roscoe

Yeah, a 4 peat would be nice, but uh, let’s just try and get the free agents sign and win one next year and worry bout the 3rd and 4th when we get there.

This team is only gonna get better. Kobe has 3 more super star years ahead of him, and prob 6 years as an effective player and leader. Bynum will be way better next season, Ariza will be even better, Pau, all of them are on the upswing, except fisher.

    Hey lakerschamps-09,

We, as Lakers and Kobe fans, can only hope for that outcome! You and roscoe are right, 1st things 1st… let’s resign the 3 free agents in LO, Ariza, and Shannon Brown. Then the Lakers gotta restructure Kobe’s contract. Our boys need plenty of rest this summer and come back refreshed for the beginning of the season and get ready to DEFEND their TITLE unlike the COKSTON CELD!CKS, who were a no show!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!
