Phil is open to trading

Phil talked about his feelings on a possible trade…

Daily News: “We certainly won’t sit back and just assume (the best),” Jackson said before the Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors, 115-107. “We’ll talk about it. We’ll try to improve the club if there’s a necessary thing to do. That’s what you have to do in this business.”

knowing that our gm is mitch, he’ll think about it and he’ll be patient..at least he’s shown that as of late after learning from his original bad mistakes..im not so sure we should trade odom tho…maybe a small tweak sending vlad rad for a defensive big body?

    • ph33shy

      get shaq back… hahahaha o.O

i would actually love to have shaq back on the lakers. i really hated him after he was traded away initially because he was a real dick to kobe. for example, he would not refer to kobe by name in any interviews and such… but since they are cool now, i would love to see the best 1-2 punch in the history of the nba to play once again!! shaq is putting up some impressive numbers this season.

    • ricky

im really glad that phil brought up the idea of making any necessary trades that will improve the team with bynum out. i think its time to seriously consider trading radmonovich because he is hardly coming off the bench and he has not lived up to the expectations. he was great with the clippers a few seasons back, but after signing him, he has been terrible. i know the jury is still out on walton, but i really like what luke can do in terms of hustling (more so than radman at least), but more importantly his ability to pass and make the smart plays is good for the team and phil just adores him.

so if anything i would trade vlad rad for a bigger defensive body who can just block/contest shots and rebound.

    • LakersFirst

All teams are open to trades if it means improving their team.

The article also went on to say that Phil is happy with the chemistry of the current team.

in a new article, yahoo sports has indicated that the suns are putting everyone on their roster on the trading block besides nash. stoudemire is the biggest piece they have and in return, they would want expiring contracts, young talent, and some draft picks.

if only they would trade with a division rival like the lakers. but we dont even have 15 million to spare in trying to bring him in. lamar would be the guy to go, but his knowledge of the triangle is crucial since he knows the system and it would take stoudemire a while to pick it up. amare would be great for us with bynum out but thats obviously not gonna happen, im just day dreaming for fun.

however, if mitch kupchak can some how pull off getting someone like stoudemire without giving up kobe, fish, bynum, farmar, odom, jordan, sasha, and ariza, then im all for it baby!!!

vlad, luke, mihm, mbenga, powell, yue can all be traded for all i care.

haha just imagine our core with stoudemire in the mix

      bynum
      pau
      stoudemire
      odom
      ariza
      kobe
      sasha
      fish
      farmar

    • xteo

i’d rather get shaq baq here.

    • JFK-analysis-at-TLN

Laker fans, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? We do not want Shaq back.. I know we will win a title this season, Andrew will be back and we will be ok..
I refuse to have someone say that Kobe had to have Shaq to win..
Mamba has given us his heart and soul over the past 5 season, and shaq does not deserve to come on an AMAZING team and playing ten mins and get one more ring..Be Serious…
Damm man, we are not desperate…….

get some that can play good D and has a good three point shot at the SF position..that way be can put puke and rad on the bench…..

      I say HELLLL NOO!!

      What do you guys think?

No trade will happen. Why fix what isn’t broke. Yes Drew is out for a few weeks but he should be back by the beginning of april if no sooner (the injury was reported as a grade II MCL tear which does not take 8-12 weeks to heal). Unless another Kwame for Pau type trade comes along no trade will happen.

    • Richard

Trade Radmanovic. He does nothing for our team but make dumb fouls.

    • PaulPierce34

      CELTICS 2009 CHAMPS !!!!!!!!!!!

    • lakrfan4life

    • KING BQ

GET RIDD OFF WALTON & RADMAN…. GARBAGE!

    • listen here

weve needed to upgrade at the starting 3 for years now.
vlad and luke are good second stringers and although ariza is hustling out there, he asked to remain on the 2nd unit (why? idk). obviously matrix would be a great defensive/3 pt shooting/ high energy upgrade, but his price tag is too much. even stephen jackson would be an upgrade (but the warriors arent moving him). but what about the guy that was traded for jackson? rad +1 for mike dunleavy, anyone? he’s a better outside shooter than vlad. basketball i.q. as good as luke good passing and vision. he’s like the things we like in vlad and luke put together! and with ariza playing 20+ minutes a game it would be an upgrade. who else could the lakers get for vlad, walton and draft pciks?

      p.s.
the pacers need to get rid of dunleavy with granger playing at all-star levels now.

    • listen here

but for the next 8 weeks use powell as the back up big man to rest pau and lamar. thats all we need to do onthat front. seriously, i think pau and lamar are secretly dreaming about the big nights theyre about to put on in the next few weeks. use this as a smoke screen to make the REAL upgrades we need.

its funny how Celtic fans come to a Lakers fan website, dont they have news for them about the Celtics?

Getting rid of Vlad and Luke would be a major plus.

      ABSOLUTELY!

In the Jerry West days the Lakers consistently brought in proven veterans, maybe a little on the downward side physically, but top notch mentally with a full understanding of how the game is played. Veterans like Bob McAdoo, Brian Shaw, Ron Harper, Robert Horry, Rick Fox. We need to return to that formula. Unfortunately, the fact of the matter is we have too many mentally weak, fundamentally deficient players on the roster now.

Also it is clear there are a lot of numbskulls out there, who call themselves “True Laker Fans” that will mindlessly worship anyone with a pulse that is wearing a Laker uniform. Whatever…

    • YellowPurpleFever

Us fans have been pushing to get RID of the same guys for the past 2 years:
      V-lady
      Fluke
      LameDumb
      Mihm
If any of these or combinations would be IDEAL. We have 2 weeks to find out. Do it Mitch! Amare for Odumb. dont wake me up, i am dreamin’

    • Drake Hunter

Trade Luke, Mihm, and Josh Powell to the Clippers for Marcus Camby. When Bynum comes back, Camby goes to the bench and plays with the 2nd unit and the Lakers are 10 deep. Done!!!!

As sorry as Luke is, he moves the ball and will make the Clippers better. Mihm backs up Kaman and Powell backs up Randolph. Its works out for both LA teams.

Lakers then trade Radman in the offseason and sign Artest as the starting small forward. Re-sign Ariza and Odom only if he takes 8 million. The Lakers are a dynasty!!!!!!!!!!

The Clippers have been the subject of much trade discussion this season, owing largely to the fact that they have three guys on the roster who can play center. Every team in the league that needs a big man . . .which is nearly every team . . .has been linked to trade rumors involving the Clippers.

Camby is available, if the Clippers want Radman instead of Luke, thats fine too!

Oh I didn’t know the Sucdicks were getting past the Cavs this year. I honesty think it will be Cavs vs. Lakers finals and you know the NBA wants Lebron vs Kobe finals.

Like I said in another thread, the NBA needs the Lakers. In the 90′s it was Jordan, which was fine and all but how great would it have been in the 90′s to see Jordan vs. Magic in the Finals multiple times. Yes, we had it one time in ’91, but after that, Magic was forced to retire which put a halt to the Lakers. After that, noticed how the NBA in the 90′s was lame.

The the Lakers in 2000 came back with a force with Kobe and Shaq dominating the NBA. When this happened the NBA rose back. Ratings were higher and more people were interested. Let’s face it NBA fans, the NBA NEEDS THE LAKERS!!!

    • ph33shy

bring back HORRY…. free agent … just sign his ass!!!

    • hyperdunk247
    • pat bate

Lakers played hard, missed free throws, kobe jack up horrible shots late in the game but we played solid defense the last minute of overtime.

Im all for trading Vlade because he just doesnt fit to what we are trying to accomplish, DEFENSE!

Sasha good defender, but he shoots toooo much, he didnt really help tonight.

Fisher cannot guard Rando in a 7 game series and Eddie House was httin his shots

      GREAT W anyway

      Time for CLEVELAND!

      TIME to snap another streak!
23-1 cleveland @ home after we play them!
