I never really considered this guy an option as the Lakers PG but it seems the Lakers thought otherwise. Plus, EuroBasket claims two other NBA teams made offers for his services:

The most high paid European player will be continuing his career in the CSKA Moscow untill June 2010! Theodoros Papaloukas became officially the most expensive player (European) with the new contract of 3 million euros (net) per year for the next three years who will be wearing the Russian jersey of CSKA…. Papaloukas had offers from NBA (Lakers, Timberwolves and Miami Heat) and also from Panathinaikos and Olympiakos but he kept his promise to the Russian management as he told them that if not NBA I will be staying in Moscow!!

  • nyla

Rpoc, Doesn’t work for me either.

I guess Kobe apologized to Bynum long before he apologized to Mitch…or at least thats what ESPN just said. Bucher was on, too, and basically said the apology meant nothing about his trade demand, and he believes Kobe will not be in a Lakers jersey next year unless they get KG. He then went on to say that there’s a slim to none chances we’re getting him.

I don’t believe a word Bucher says anymore. He’s been advocating KG to the Suns for the last 4 weeks. Speaking of that…Amare was on the Dan Patrick Show today and said all the trades of him are just rumors.

    Fatty,

Chris Weber is a free agent now. You probably got your info from the BSPN Trade Machine. That one is giving you the 06-07 salaries which has expired now. Go to Hoopshype.com, they have the updated salaries. Weber being a free agent is subject to market value and I personally believe that he would get the MLE at about 30 Mil 3-4 years, if he’s lucky.

  • cyrus

Paploukas is signing with CSKA, that brings us step closer to Fish.LOL

  • lakerfan81

Webber will most likely sign for the Vet min with a team he believes can contend. I don’t think at this stage in his career he cares about money.

“ay fatty what’s with the trade-o-meter?))”

I started with the [Trade-O-Meter] because of all the junk espn has been spewing out and wanted to counteract it and have a little fun with the KG trade.

Its my invention. It measures all the facts, stories, gossip etc..etc…. On that basis, it calculates the probabillity of KG being traded to LA.

When I started it two weeks ago, its first measurement had KG to LA at [50%] Its been growing steadily since each team is being ruled out.

After Kobe apologized, it started to humm tunes. Its now starting to think on its own after an unfortunate accidental Mountain Dew spill. I’m afraid soon, it may even start posting on the blog.

Rick Bucher said that the only way Kobe would stay is if KG got traded to LA. oh and look at this article the Warriors dont want KG anymore b/c they alreay signed Brandon Wright and thats probably the only player Minny want and when u sign a free agent u cant trade him for 30 days. so its just us and the Mavs to get KG i guess.thats good for us.

No KG? Warriors Sign Brandan Wright To Rookie Contract
    RealGM Staff Report – 07/06 – 5:47 PM EST
The Golden State Warriors have signed Brandan Wright, the eighth overall selection in last week’s NBA Draft, to a contract, Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Mullin announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

Because of this contract, Wright can not be traded for 30 days.

Wright, 19, was originally selected by the Charlotte Bobcats with the eighth pick in the 2007 draft and was acquired by Golden State in exchange for Jason Richardson and the draft rights to the 36th overall pick (Jermareo Davidson). A 6-10 forward, Wright played one season at the University of North Carolina, averaging 14.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.76 blocks per game, while shooting 64.6% (228-353 FG) from the field. Wright led the Atlantic Coast Conference in field goal percentage, while also ranking sixth in the conference in blocks (65), 13th in points per game and 14th in rebounds per game. For his efforts, Wright was named ACC Rookie of the Year and was a Second Team All-ACC selection. [READ]

  • Cyrus

    Fatty,

Sorry Fatty, this is becoming really complicated because if you lookup the list of free agency at the Hoopshype.com, he is on the list under Detroit. I am pretty sure he’s a free agent now, although 76er are paying his salary of $19-Mil for one more year. Is it the same situation as Brian Grant and Lakers?

You are right that he’s under 76’er payroll, but he’s a free agent at this point and he’s 34 years old, so, he would want to have a contract for more than a year. I was wrong with my MLE suggestion but not that far off unless he wants to retire.

  • two0one7

Thats 3 million euro, faith. I don’t know the exact conversion but I think its roughly 4 million US dollars. Still, we could offered him the MLE at 6mil. He doesnt’ want that?

  • J-Cool

    How You Doing Faith?

  • Faith

I’m allright J, what bout you?

Wait, now that I think about it, he would have gotten the full MLE…and with what I heard most of it would have gone to the team (to buy out), so he’d probably just end up with a mil or 2…so maybe not so chump change like.

  • steve

WELCOME LAKER FANS.i know we already have enough point guards but a sign and trade with the bulls for mihm and duhon does not sound like a bad idea. The front office would know by now what they plan to do with farmar or critt and its a good way to get a little value for mihm incase he plans to walk.Im on my way now to get a heap of coal for the trade o meter, gotta get it crankin.lets go mitch

  • Cyrus

    Fatty,

I dug out some articles about weber and it pretty much confirms what I am saying:
This from Detroit Free Press, June 27th,2007

“Webber could try to reach a deal with the Pistons, but the team hasn’t made many public overtures to indicate it would like him back. He doesn’t fit Dumars’ desire to make the team younger and more athletic.

If the Pistons were to sign him, they have only two ways to do it — with all or part of the $6-million mid-level exception or with a veteran’s minimum contract. Webber also could move on to his sixth NBA team and fight for that elusive title somewhere else. Webber said he hasn’t talked with Dumars yet, although he said that conversation is coming “pretty soon.”

    http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070627/SPORTS03/706270383/1051

    Also, NY-Post, April 10th 2007

“Asked if he meant disappear as in retire, Webber said, “I got to win a championship this year and I might then disappear. I don’t even know.”

Last summer, the Sixers offered Webber to the Knicks, but Isiah Thomas wasn’t willing to take on a ton of payroll. Thomas’ offer to the Sixers was weak – centered on Quentin Richardson and Malik Rose. Philly preferred to buy Webber out than take on those contracts. Thomas was hot and heavy for Webber in January because of the cheap price tag – a $1 million veteran’s minimum.

This summer C-Webb will not come as cheaply – likely for a large portion of the $5 million mid-level exception. Thomas is extremely close with the Goodwin brothers who represent Webber. Asked about Webber’s long-term future in Detroit, Pistons coach Flip Saunders said, “I can’t even talk about that. You’ll get me in trouble with the league.”

    Cyrus

    My understanding on Weber.

Philly released him but still paying him.

Detroit signed him for vet min to finish year.

Weber is now FA, but still makes 19 mil from Philly (and we thought Grant’s was bad)

Weber can sign with anyone for what ever price he can get.

Now my opinion: If Weber was willing to take vet min from Detroit last year to hopefully win the title, why wouldn’t he take the min this year in hopes to win a title?
I mean the guy is making 19 mil already.

That’s why J-Cool, I don’t think he will sign with the Lakers unless we get KG. He just waiting on us.

  • cyrus

    Fatty,

And now we are back to my original post to “Steven”, where I said “He’s 34 years old and I would take him at veteran’s salary but I think he’s looking for more money than Lakers are ready to pay for the 6-10 forward.” . Maybe I should have phrased it differently and mention his salary with Philis. Anyway, You last post is good enough for me and we leave it at that.

    Hey Cyrus (Vent), Hey Fatty.

Just to jump in (like jumping in a cool pool lol)…I don’t think Webber to LA is all that possible. For a couple of reasons, I believe he’s looking for more money than we’re willing to pay him…and keep in mind that he talked with PJ earlier and it wasn’t exactly positive.

  • cyrus

    Fatty and Faith,

I assume you like “Laker Tom” as much as I do and she would be a great asset to this site. How could we get her to move over here????

  • Faith

You’re right; Webber to LA is a very remote possibility. He probably will stay with Pistons for another year before he retires.

  • Fatty

    Man, Amen to your post.

    Faith

One of the rules to this site is you must agree with everything I say.lol

I think Weber is in no hurry if he will work for the vet min. He might just want to wait till every team is built for the season and then make his choice. Faith, I didn’t know him and PJ had words. Was it more than “The triangle is too hard stuff?”

Give Fish Half Of The MLE.

All Right What About Jamal Magloire?

Here’s the problem as I see it. The Lakers are pursuing Darko. It will take the full MLE to get him here if he comes at all. Fish would have to play for the Vet Min for that to happen. But if Fish wants more like you said, then pay him half like you said and pay Magloire the balance if we need a back up center. Fish is much more important than Darko.

I feel Fish needs the Lakers as much as the Lakers and the Laker Fans need him. He is the right person, not just the right player at the right place, and at the right time. J-Cool, I honestly feel he is the answer to many peoples prayers. He needs strength to help his family, and his friends in LA can really help him.
