It wasn’t exactly something that was covered as much as it should have been; especially here. But while Lakers fans, and the entire NBA Nation were resting in preparation for what has the potential to be the best season in recent memory; there was a Basketball World Championship being played in the other side of the globe in Turkey.

The games themselves were missed by many — some blame scheduling based on times zones, some had no interest in watching what they called “B-Team.” With all that said, the United States stomped their way to a World Championship; their first since 1994, a 16 year drought. In the middle of the United States road to supremacy was one of our own, Lamar Odom. Arguably one of the most frustrating Lakers to watch since the dawning of the Kobe-era in L.A. (strictly based off of our expectations mixed with his potential), Lamar set himself apart as one of the most prominate figues in the World Championship.

We all know the Lamar Odom story. His road hasn’t been the easiest, but his selflessness has been well documented. On behalf of Lakers fans everywhere, we want to congratulate and thank Lamar Odom for his recent string of success and restoring pride in both the Los Angeles Lakers organization and the Team USA Basketball program.

A recent article by SI‘s Jack McCallum sums up much of our feelings; take a read.

When last some of you saw Lamar Odom, he might’ve been passing through your consciousness, or semi-consciousness, on a clip from the reality-TV roll. Maybe he was looking perplexed as he learns that his then-fiancée has misplaced the $850,000 engagement ring he had bought for her. Or sheepish as he fails to pick up his now-wife’s swimming tips. Or surprised when his spouse lays a $400,000 Rolls Royce on him, a bauble presented in recognition of the NBA title he won with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Such is the course of your 24/7 public life when you become a citizen of Kardashian World, as Odom has done with his marriage to Khloe, who is one of the Kardashians, though I know not which.

It all gives rise to the supposition that the man is a little, well, loopy.

Actually, he is.

Thank you, at last, Kam. A nice collection of articles and clips.
I did find this bit quite interesting, though. “For we tend to think of pro athletes as finished products, masters of their own domain, supremely confident about their own talents. Certainly many of them act that way, some to the point of delusion.” How odd that Jack McCallum worked a mention of Paul Pierce into an article about Lamar Odom. LOL

Oh, wow, I’m sorry for dredging up those memories of you and Paul Pierce. Well, don’t worry, I’m sure he’s be waiting for you at the front gate when you get out. He’ll be the one in the wheel chair.

It’s about time LO got some recognition and credit. This ones for you Candy Man:

  • F__K That!

I like Odom, I just believe he has a mental block, maybe too much pot. The guy have the skills and the talent. He is just too inconsistent.
If he played games like the first two against the Suns last season more often, he would be an All Star.
too bad, who knows maybe hanging out with team USA might make him be more efficient from now on. We’ll see.

242Lakerfan.. Please stop posting.. I’m so tired of seeing ur face on the bottom of the shoutbox. I know u like attention. But spare us.. Pls..

    • 242LakerFan

I realize my face is a constant reminder of how cruelly fate treated you in the genetic lottery, so here’s what you do. Go to your screen resolution settings and change them so you no longer see past the bottom of your precious little Shitbox, then you and your little buddy Phenobarbitol can have your puerile little conversations in private and not worry about the grown folks (and laffs atu) out here in the adult section of the blog.
      Have a great night, boys.

lol. i agree. do you have a life.. or something…?

  • Robert.

I guess it was worth the wait. This is good stuff on LO.
My speculation is that since “Summer Games” tend to spark something in players on the team (e.g., LeBron, Carmelo, etc.), then this will help step up LO’s game.
With a ‘newly revamped’ bench, he can now test his leadership skills and have a chance to help produce something like the ‘original’ Bench Mob of years back.

I feel sorry for you. What a fu-ckin loser to hang on Lakers site just to spill bullsh-it.

I guess you don’t have much going on in your life anyway. LOL

Take it easy on laffs atu, okay?
There really isn’t much to do in prison these days, besides taking care of Big Marge’s “needs”. That leaves 23 hours and forty-five minutes to take out her own sexual frustrations on the object of her deepest desire and her unrequited (in fact, unrequitable) love, one Mr. Kobe Bean Bryant. So she comes to this site and spews the same old tired lines over and over and over again, services Big Marge just before bed, then it’s lights out and more dreams of Kobe and his “Black Mamba”.
You really can’t help but feel sorry for her. At least for a second or two.
        Keepin it real.
        Laughing at…you.

  • kobe4ever
