Phil Jackson said, “This series is not over yet,” in his post-game conference. It is a very well known fact that no team has ever come back to win the championship trailing 1-3. Many Lakers fans feel this series ended with the Lakers 24 point lead tonight.

However, I ask you this. How do you feel right now as a fan? Do you really believe we can even extend this to six games, let alone seven? At this point all we have left is one game at a time. And like our website here, all we have left is to believe. Like our motto around here, We Follow, Because We Believe.

How deeply do you believe?

THIS IS THE DEAL LAKERS WILL WIN GAME 5 ONLY BECAUSE BOSTON WANTS TO WIN IN BOSTON SO WE CAN HEAR THE BOSTON FANS SCREAMING “KOBE SUX KOBE SUX” ‘BEAT LA BEAT LA” WOW PAUL PIERCE KICK KOBE REAR END IN A FINALS

I am hurting I really am, but for some reason, I’M FIRED UP!!!! AND I’M READY TO GO!!! I believe in these Lakers. I am a third generation Laker fan, and this is all I know. A fresh wind is blowing in Laker Land, and this is only the calm before the storm. You will see a new intensity in Kobe Byant, one that has never been seen before.

They say it’s impossible, but knowing him, he’s not going to let this chance slip away, not this time, not this year. I urge all of our fans to get our players fired up and ready to go!!!!

    YES WE CAN!!!

    YES WE CAN!!!

yea. and this coming from a guy who benched a SOLID lamar odom and derek fisher in the 4th quarteer! im having my doubts on the so called “zen master” now.

  • 7Lakers7in7

I think Phil is going to spin it to the team like this. Under most most assumptions we were going to win the title in 6 games by doing the unprobable of sweeping all 3 at staples. Now its going to take 1 extra game to get that done, not a big deal. Right now its about grabbing the next 2 games then game 7 is a single elimination ncca style march madness, throw HCA etc out the door. We had won 10 in a row at staples center prior to this meltdown and i cant see us going out 2 in a row here at home.

  • Joe Demarne

wow son, a true laker fan will believe to the end. Like Phil said, It aint over yet. Its their own fault for settling for jumpshots, and letting their defense deteriorate.

  • LAKing

Phil Jackson really screwed up big time in game 4 even when the game was in his hands. Unbelievable, the most disappointing loss I’ve ever witnessed in all my 15 years as a diehard Lakers fan.

  • 123KID

this is the time that separates the bandwagoners from the real fans!!! all real fans will stick with their team till the last sec of the game!!! some people might say im crazy, but just cuz there has been no team that has come back from 3-1, doesnt mean it cant be done!! its all about perfect basketball starting sunday! LETS GO LAKERS!

n yea it can all end…this is it..LETS SEE IF THIS QUOTES WOULD COME TO BE A MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!

lakers need to take 1 game at a time..anything can happen!!!!!!!

all im hearing in my head is…””AND THE LAKERS ARE THE FIRST TEAM TO EVER COME BACK FROM AN 1-3 DEFICIT IN THE NBA FINALS HISTORY””

    GAME 5 CELTIC 92 LAKERS 96

    GAME 6 LAKERS 95 CELTIC 88

    GAME 7 LAKERS 101 CELTIC 97 KBMVP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LakersFirst

First thing is….FOCUS ON GAME 5 ONLY!!! The motivation should be for the Lakers to NOT ALLOW Boston to celebrate on your home court. That’s the first step.

Game 6, if there is one, would be the hardest game to win (difficult, not impossible). As for a game 7, anything could happen, no matter where its played.

But the first step, focus on Game 5. Don’t let them celebrate on your home court. Have some f’n pride!!!

  • LAker

I wanna slap the s#it out of ray allen and his peanut head.

Agree- feel terrible. Devastated. Imagine how the players feel. :(

Do I believe? I believe anythings possible. Boston is pretty banged up. If KG or Pierce goes down and OUT with an injury, then there’s a good chance. Otherwise, it’s looking pretty damn slim. But with the way Celtics are dropping like flies, you never know.

The question now is: how will the Lakers respond to this? Will they prove to be warriors, and fight to the death? Or will they play like it’s already over? If they man up and give the Celtics a fight, then they can hold there heads up high no matter what.

  • xtro

If the Celtics made history, then the Lakers will make history by winning all 3 games en route to the championship glory. Believe!!

    I still believe.

Remember what Phoenix did to us 2 years ago, when we were up 3-1 ?

This is our chance for vindication.

Formula = One game at a time.

    i believe.

  • Mike

Oh I still hope he Lakers take this no doubt. But give the Celtics some credit they have been the more mentally tougher team than the Lakers. What pissed me off last night was Sasha. How could you let Ray Allen drive past you like that?! Sasha you’re supposed to be that tough, hard-nosed, pesky defender. You have to at least shadow him or in stay in front of him if you’re not gonna be bodying. Instead Vujacic stepped aside and was like “Okay..Mr. Allen right this way sir”. Ridiculous. I don’t think this was the worst lost every for the Lakers, but certainly one the most outright embarassing loss. After the game Vujacic said he was “afraid to foul him”. Which is better? Ray Allen easy layup or fouling? I take the former. Sorry just expressing some dissappointment.
As Kobe said we can’t look at this as coming back from down 3 to 1. We have to focus on Game 5, win than, then GM 6, and so on and so forth. Don’t get too comfortable and complacent, EVER, when you have a big lead…especially with the Celtics, and especially when it’s the NBA Finals – with a championship on the line. C’mon Lakes….let’s make history instead of being history.

  • Remy

all people who believe that this is over, believe what you want to believe, but IT AIN’T OVER!!! until somebody wins 4 game, then it’s over…phoenix has shown that it can be done, now it’s our turn to believe that too

For everyone who’s blaming phil jackson…you just don’t understand his method of coaching…yea he benched lamar odom in the fourth, but lamar odom’s aggressiveness came when everyone moved the ball and he was attacking the rim, BUT WE LOST BC WE WERE SOFT AND SETTLING FOR JUMP SHOTS INSTEAD OF ATTACKING THE RIM…so it probably would make a little difference when he came back in…cuz the ball stopped moving, and we were settling for jump shots

WE DON’T HAVE TO BE MIRACLE MEN…WE JUST NEED TO STAY FOCUS ONE GAME AT A TIME LIKE THE NCAA…JUST PLAY OUR HEARTS OUT CUZ IF WE PLAY RIGHT…WE WILL WIN…THE POINT MARGIN WASN’T THAT MUCH IN BOSTON

  • sK

    my story-

years ago a couple of us guys tolet papered and terrorized this girls house. we got it good.

the next night we thought… hmmmm let’s do it again. At first it sounded crazy but we went for it. and we did! two nights in a row.

she ended up calling us and asking if it was us and we denied etc. etc. sh*ts and giggles right?

the third night we thought ” r u thinking what im thinking?” no way in hell would someone be crazy enough to expect get 3 nights in a row!? … we did.

the next night we drove by and found them outside waiting for a 4th. by then we were done. 3 in a row.

the key was we took it one night at a time… we never planned to do it 3 times, we did it once and then thought to do it again.

lakers. win one and then well go from there.

  • Reyes

We must have faith that we will send this series back to Boston. I know everyone is tired of hearing this…but we really have to take it ONE GAME AT A TIME. What one of the other fans said is true…this is where the true Laker fans come out. Bandwagoners get lost! Everyone from the valley to south bay and all over LA County knows that the 1st degree Laker fans are the ones that are from Los Angeles. last night was one of the worst nights ever. i cant believe we had such a drastic meltdown.

now its all one game at a time. win friday. then go to boston and take care of business there.

weve had too good of a season, and we are too good of a team to get beat by them so fast… or beat by them at all.

now its all about playing the best defense we possibly can, and executing our offense just like the way we have done all season.. and just the way weve won all the games so far.

i got faith in my beloved LAKERS. i believe were gonna turn this thing into a series… and come out on top.

  • Matt OD

Never in my life have I witnessed something this catastrophic happen to our Lakers. I have been a fan since 1996 and I can only remember being on the 20+ point comeback side. We have done it so many times, the Mavs game years ago, Portland, San Antonio, the list goes on and on, but this is the first time truly have experienced anything like this. First half saw the Lake Show shoot lights out, Walton was hitting 3’s and Odom was dropping 18 ft’s like it was clock work. Then it happened. There is no one finger you can point nor should we even bother. We all know what we had last night, we had life, we had a series, we had the dagger. It was all lost. Although the future doesn’t look too bright going down this road of the finals its not yet over. Boston did it to the Yankees and they got to feel the feeling of coming back from something that has never happened before. We can still do this if we just play our game. June 19th mark it on the calender make sure we schedule our apt. with Boston. This cant happen like 2004 it just cant. Better call Bugs Bunny and get that water they gave the team at half in Space Jam because were thirsty……

  • http://myspace.com/plummerrocks Machinehead18

I believe we can still do this. I believe Boston wont try very hard in game 5 so they can return to their home crowd and try to win it there.

And,I hate to say it like this but, for NBA ratings reasons, I believe the refs may help us in game 6 to set up a game 7, in which we will make history and come back from 3-1 and win the NBA Finals.

Thats just what I think may happen.

  • Bartlascasas

C’mon people. Why is everyone giving up? You all knew we were soft and that the bench never played well against players close to thier talent level. We have the worst dribbling team in the league, the worst player in playoff history-Luke Walton, and 1 tough player- Kobe- on the team, yet we are still in the Finals. If the Lakers can gather some hate and fire, and they have personal pride, they can beat Boston. If you need to blame someone, equal blame goes to the crowd for sitting on thier hands during Bostons comeback. That and the lame diagnosis on Bynums knee. Nice job Staples. I didn’t hear anything during the 3rd quarter. I think KG has Laker fan scared to death along with the Laker team minus Kobe. Also, I couldn’t even figure out who was in Turiafs uniform. He had no spark, fire, effort, no nothing. He looked scared to death. Only cowards give up before the fat lady sings. Keep your flags up and get of your lazy, rich ass at Sundays game, or give your tickets to real Laker fans who will leave the arena-win or lose- without thier voices. We still have Kobe. BELIEVE

The lost is not as big as how they allowed the Celtics to come back! Settling for outside shots…One after another…over and over…over and over…even Kobe didn’t drive when we needed to stop the bleeding…coaching…what a disappointment…Zen?!?! vs. Doc…what a wasted 24 minutes of Lakers domination with Farmar capping off end of half shot! Coaching is to be blamed and blasted. Kobe should only be on Pierce on occassion…he should just be on Posey or House to keep him fresh for offense…Ariza should get more playing time…Pau…so tall yet so timid…even his dunks are so timid…just go tough or go home…Pau where’s your pride?!?!? As long as I see the effort…I don’t mind the defeat…but no effort…just plan your off-season plans to Barcelona…

I’ve been bleeding purple and gold my entire life, but with the way the Lakers have performed in these four finals games, I sadly lost all faith and don’t believe.

  • http://yahoo markco2

first of all.. it takes 4 w’s to clinch it.. all we have to do right now is to make (it hard for)them earn that 1 more “w”.. (as many said, thats the most difficult part of it, closing out a series)

game5 is winnable.. c’s wont force it, if it wasnt there.. they will try to make it close and try to win it..
all we have to do is focus.. and go for it.. (motivations; last game in staples and no celebrationns in our court please!!)

game6.. motivation,, a chance to tie it at 3-3!! afterall commish wants it at 7!! (we have donagthy ghost! lol)

    game7.. see y’all at TLN in game7

  • LAKER

the future of these finals looks dim to the laker fan… but you need 4 W’s to be the champs… there is still a chance a very depressingly slim chance… but it is STILL a chance… game 4 was horrible bad coaching is to blame… phil should have left the unit that made that tremendous 24 point lead… he should have left ariza on pierce… kobe should have stayed a facilitator instead of trying to take the burden of the whole game once again… the laker’s should not have settled for jump shots AGAIN… there are many reasons why we lost but the biggest is… who wanted it more… the celtics found there drive and took the lead away the lakers were scared at the end and lost their confidence… this loss was the worst i have ever seen… but there is still that slim… very very slim chance we can win… like i said before…lakers in 7…..(hopefully)

  • kb24-4lyf

As simple as this guys… “No will to win, No ring at all”
total domination in the 1st half.. it seems the lakeshow disappeared in the 2nd!What happened? They dont have the will to win! The guys became so laid back on defence, And they blew the lead! The other guys should have kobe’s mentallity.. “One quarter at a time guys!” I know kobe and zen master phil can comeback and win this but they do need all the support they can get! WAKE UP YOUR F’N MIND GUYS! YOU CAN F’N DO THIS AND GET YOUR RING! ONE QUARTER AT A TIME… ONE GAME AT TIME! GO LAKERS! BOSTON SUX!

  • Geloman

Phoenix came back from 3-1 on the Lakers a couple of years ago. So it’s been done before. MAybe not in the finals, but it has been done.

Phil is getting out coached so he needs to get it right in game 5.

What did Ariza do wrong to not have a chance to play in the final quarter? I agree, the lineup that got them the 24 point lead should have been the one to close the game out. Kobe tried to do it himself all quarter long in the 4th and the Celts new it and collapsed on him everytime he got the ball.

Now I’m not gonna say the Lakers have the worst fans in the NBA, but the ones that fill the Staples Center are definitely the worst. Without a doubt we have the quietest home court, it’s so freaking pathetic. When we were building this huge lead all the fans just got quiet for some reason, and i was sitting at home thinking WTF are they being quiet for? We’re building this huge lead and they’re gonna get quiet like that? They should’ve been even louder than ever! Ans I see all our guys smiling and looking happy, and PJ changes the lineup and puts luke in. The only thing I was thinking was why the F are they so happy? Why aren’t we trying to make this lead 30-40 pts? What’s with these stupid subs? We should’ve been trying to crush them, but instead chose to let them back in the game. The whole time I had the feeling the Celtics were going to come back, and when I did I was sooooooooooooo pissed off

  • @LakersFans

Can we please save at least the 300 section for real fans to attend the games? I mean c’mon, $350 minimum for a seat in nose bleeds?!? These rich, lazy, bandwagon fans that show up in their random clothes, late to arrive and early to leave, with no purple or gold and force out all the true, die hard Laker fans with these high prices need to be banned from Staples. The prices are so ridiculous that the majority of die hards are screaming their heads off in local bars and at the house. Kupchak, please do something about this!

Now to my die hards, we need to stand up for all the quiting bandwagon fans and show our pride for the wonderful season our guys have givin us. If any Laker or staff is reading this, THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!! This year has been amazing and I’ll be damned if one loss is going to kill my spirits! Thanks to TLN for all your hard work. I’ve been hooked this entire year! We have to believe in our guys that this can be done. One game at a time is the way to approach it and to have confidence that it can be done. If it happens that Boston takes this, then show respect to our guys and get ready for next year. When we finally have a healthy team with our big man back in the center, all the other NBA are gunna be running scared.

Keep your heads up, forget all the haters and trash talk on our guys and especially Kobe. BTW, Kobe is Kobe and all the MJ comparison crap is making me sick to my stomach. The media will never give Kobe the credit deserves and will hate on any great player that follows (Thanks espn!). But we all know in TLN that he is the best player, regardless if it is the best ever or the in the top ten. He is a hall of famer and that’s all that matters. Keep them flags up and lets make history….

    Genuininely and whole-heartedly…I believe

  • One game at a time

Sports analysts are all spur-of-the-moment, flipfloppers. They all say LA is done. But what happens if we blow out the Celts in impressive fashion in game 5? “Well…since they showed us something…maybe if they can steal one in Boston anything can happen.” And what happens when they do come back, being the first team to come back from 3-1 in the finals? All of the sudden Kobe is in MJ debates again, and KG, Pierce, and Allen’s hearts are challenged once more. Being professional sports commentators, they should know better than to jump to conclusions. Did they not witness the Red Sox comeback just a few years ago? I know the odds are not in our favor, but the point remains that you cannot take little windows of a team or a player’s game and think that you can define a whole career in one performance. Wherever the Kobe MJ debate was at before, I think it was the same before and after game 4. I grew up watching MJ, and Kobe is playing as close to that level as I have ever seen. And Kobe still has close to 5 dominant seasons left. Let him play them out. There could still be one more three-peat left in him, with or without this season.
