A wonderful piece by Hoopworld’s writer Eric Pincus. I highly recommend it you give it a read…
Hoopsworld: My brother isn’t a basketball junkie. He doesn’t mind it. He’ll go to a game now and again and enjoy it unlike yours truly, an unabashed NBA geek.
That’s why it’s not fair that back in elementary school his best friend’s father had Senate Seats at the Great Western Forum.
My brother has a vague memory of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar doing something and the game stopping. He didn’t really know what was going on and frankly it didn’t mean much to him. Something about a rocking chair..
I don’t like to talk to my brother much about those days. His memories just aren’t descriptive enough.
But enough of my unabashed jealousy . . .
I’ve seen my share of NBA moments since covering the Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and NBA in general professionally since 2003. I can’t complain.
On Tuesday night the Lakers raised their 10th banner in the city of L.A. – 15th overall as a franchise (commemorated by a single banner for the old school Minneapolis team which I was lucky enough to see go up).
