If he was optimistic Fish would return, he could be right.

Whittier Daily News: The Lakers’ pursuit of Shannon Brown continues.

After signing free agents Matt Barnes, Steve Blake and Theo Ratliff this month, Lakers general manager Mitch Kup- chak said he’s still negotiating with Brown’s agent about a possible return to the two-time defending NBA champions.

“We’re still talking to Shannon,” Kupchak said Friday at the Lakers’ El Segundo training facility.

“I think there’s a good chance that in the next couple of weeks we can have some resolution with Shannon.

“I’m optimistic.”

Great news! Get it done Mitch! Shannon will do well for us!

  • laker warrior

Shannon for a cheap price is good. He really is a lost soul needs work. The guy over dribbles and cant play any defense. And cant ht open shots.
But maybe with the 3 defenders he can learn.

  • Lakers_The_Truth

I like Shannon but he really needs to work on his game. Just spectacular dunks and occasional 3’s won’t do it.

  • leor_77

Good looking out, Mitch. It looks like Mr. Buss is willing and able to shell out that cash.

  • laughoutloud

With Luke out, Shannon would be good for us!

  • lakers0828

Yeah I would like to see him come back he is such a spark for us off the bench and really can dunk

  • Joseph

minimum 2 year contract with team option on 2nd year

i would like to see T.Mac

    • LakErS 3 pEaT

T-Mac is over weight and old. He also needs the ball to create shots. We have that already in Kobe Bryant

  • laker warrior

Get T mac , not Shannon over dribbler.
T Mac would be 100 per cent better than this guy.
He has been passed around like a cheap whore.
    Why because he SUCKS.
How does he fit in Steve Blake is better than him and Sasha
is equal to Shannon so why would you want him.

I am indifferent on whether brown is coming back or not. But I really think they should get Jeremy Lin.

  • kobe279

let his sorry ass go mitch you are making it harder than what is.

  • Seriously

Why the hell do retards keep harping on and on about getting Lin? Especially since he’s already joined the Warriors. Cause he had a decent couple of summer league games? Cause he’s asian? Give it a rest already!

It seems like I’m with the minority that thing he should return. His repertoire isn’t as diverse as other shooting guards but he’s definitely had some spectacular dunks that have led to pivotal sparks during the past 2-years.

But can someone explain how this would work? Considering that we spent the last of our MLE on Matt Barnes, how exactly would we re-acquire Shannon? I’m not exactly a financial whiz

    • Mike

Shannon has early Bird-rights with the Lakers which allows them to sign him without going against the MLE, though they still will have to pay for his contract and the luxury tax.

  • lakerman34

I said “get any SG not named Shannon Brown.” We got Matt Barnes (listed as SF, but can play SG).

And STILL we have $ to get Brown, so I say why not? Sign him to a 3 yr deal, make the 3rd a team option.

  • Laker s Army

If Shannon is al that is left for scraps get him. Other wise
his value is not so great he has been passed around like laker 24/2 mother on a friday night nickel night at the whore house.

I seriously just talked to michael smith…this isn’t good news but he said the clippers have a lead in signing shannon :(
