This afternoon our beloved General Manager was on the Loose Cannons commenting on last night NBA Draft and what the Los Angeles did. Mitch actually showed some personality in this interview considering what is going on.

Here’s the interview from AM570:

    amen brotha

  • Lakes on 3!

Just get it done!!! I am soooo sick and tired of hearing trade rumores. As far as I know Dr. Buss has been involved in trade rumores! Mark Cuban Dr. Buss swap! WE WOULD HAVE A RIDICULOUS SQUAD!

  • Lakers305

    @LD2k
isn’t this, the same thing that Kobe has been complaining about?? They said they were working hard but they went out and did the same thing again right. isn’t that a rebuilding process??
Now he’s going about and saying that Andrew Bynum looks really really good. man, i dont see how we can keep kobe after this season. You think he was pissed before, imagine now, he’s probably on the brink of explosion.
And next year they’ll have to give Kobe up for cheap since kobe will have all the leverage: 1 year left before opting out and no trade clause. And i know kobe wont let the other team(most likely chicago) to gut its roster or let both Gordon and Deng go for that matter.

  • Kobe Hater

Trade Kobe NOW! And get want we can for him before it’s too late and we’ll end up with a team like the 90s, dont even remind me of the Lakers in the 90s (horrible…just horrible)

  • One35

I wish Mitch dies seriously… that little prick needs to go to hell.

  • GETsomeONE

I don’t care what they have to do. They have to fix this team. I can see that, and I live in freakin’ Tennessee. They need an inside presence. If they can get KG great, do it. If you can get JO, go get him, but giving up Odom and Bynum for someone that obviously pouts during games when they don’t use him as much as he would like is stupid. Plus he stays hurt all the time. I can’t even remember a season since Reggie retired that he played every game or even close. I’ve said all along that Pau would be a way better fit than JO, but not better than KG. They could possibly even land Pau without losing Bynum. We still have picks next year, a mid-level exception, and an expiring contract that we can trade. Get Pau Gasol. Resign Luke, and put Farmar at the point. And if we keep the mid-level exception we could possibly even get Grant Hill, who is far from done. Think about that.

    Jordan Farmar
    Kobe Bryant
    Grant Hill
    Lamar Odom
    Pau Gasol

    6th man: Luke Walton

    Bench:
    Rad-Man
Brian Cook or Luther Head if trade goes through
    Ronny Turiaf

This would be a good enough team to come out on top of the west.

Who knows, maybe the Wolves even lose KG to free agency next year, or whoever they trade him to. And we stilll get him. Our team would be even sicker then. The possibilities are endless. But we have to play the cards right.

  • lakersforlife77

That scares me if he is praising bynum that much. Maybe he is not our biggest trading piece :(

  • mitch_kupchac

will all you people quit telling me to die!! i am doing my best but no trades didn’t happen. yes we will look what we can get for kobe because bynum is looking really good.

  • http://myspace.com/wasayshahid36 wasay shahid

I think the Lakers should get pau gasol and get jalen rose and grant hill as free agents. Jalon Rose said he wants to play w/ the lakers if they have a chance of winning a championship w/ pau, kobe, lamar, and possibly grant hill plaus the addition of javaris. The Lakers are a serious contenden.

  • KOBEISABITCH

Can we make a petition to kick Joe Mcdonald out of the radio on 570 am. This guy is alwayz negative when it comes to KOBE>. I just don’t like this guy.

  • KBisDarthVader

mitch has caught a bum rap. he is the easy scapecoat, but consider that he cant make any moves without either the owners son or one of his players vetoing all his hard work. granted, he is the gm and has responsibility. but kobe as f*&%@d us all by trashing the organization and his teammates. other gm’s know we’re in a bind and are trying to take advantage of that fact in trade negotiations. and what free agent wants to come get involved in this mess now? kobe could have gotten his point across in private and we would have had a chance to make a good fair value trade. now we will overpay for any move we make, and even that isn’t likely to please kobe. we cant trade him now, though, and no, LAker305, we will have no less leverage next off-season than we currently have…either way kobe has to ok the trade, so we have zero leverage now and zero next summer. our best bet might be to let him walk and use the money to sign a marquee player(s), because it would be stupid to allow kb to trade himself into a situtaion that he thinks will allow him to go somewhere and be competative (cuz that means we aren’t getting shit back).

I listen to that and i hear him doing damage control , you put This clip together with Phils clip from yesturday when phil stated theres no way the same team we had hits the floor. lets you know there going to make a Trade .

is it guaranteed KG no but i do hope they can make it happen.

Also with Kobe’s Demand to be traded during this off season it put most teams on notice La Was Desperate to throw that off you have to Play Damage Control and make it seem like your prepaired to Keep most of your Current team, thats why you hear this talk about during jan we were 26-15 or w/e our record was, and make it sound as if the injuries didnt happen we would have finished 4th or 5th seed in the west..

Also why Make it sound as if Bynum is the Next Best thing and keep pumping him up thru radio shows talken about how much hes improving this summer and how wonderfull of a player he is ? ITs to raise his value to other teams. you cant have a Valuable player and make it sound like no matter what his ass is gone at start of next season you have to make it sound as if you are not willing to part with him Unless we get (KG , JO , Gasol ) etc..

i know were going to be trading some players for a Piece or 2 i know this will happen , will it be KG ? i dont know , but im not going to bad mouth Laker management because they have me checking this web site daily to see if theres a trade or whats the latest news .. Have some Patients things will happen before Camp this year.

Get Pau or KG i dont want JO hes Overrated.

    Snitch Chumpchange = Robot

These bozos are in this position mainly because of their own ineptness. Pretty much all the moves that they have made since West left the Lakers have backfired both short term and long term. The players they traded for didn’t pan out, and worse yet, they handcuffed the team with their salary issues. The Shaq trade deal was such a collosal mismanagement of assets that the entire front office should have been summarily fired, and that includes Buss’s idiot son. The net effect of that Shaq trade (for Odom, Grant, Butler, with Grant being let go and Butler traded for K Brown) has been: Miami ended up getting Shaq and unloading a ton of unwanted Salary (the only quality player they gave up was Butler), wound up almost making it to the finals the following year and winning it all the year after. The Lakers ened up with Odom and K Brown as well as giving up 45 million dollars in cash. Neither Odom nor Brown has been a big hit, both underwent surgeries last year, and neither has a big trade value having quelled any doubt about their so called “potentials”. Had they done the worst thing they could have imagined back then, let Shaq go off on his own without making a trade, they would have had a lot more cash at hand for the past couple of years to sign pretty much anyone, and NONE of the contractual baggage that’s tying their hands now. The bottom line: Their front office blew it big time.

What’s the way out of this? They do have to get a major player who doesn’t have a lot of baggage. They can get whoever they want, KG, JO, Pau… it is not impossible. But that means because of their past blunders, to get those players they can’t just count on the trade value of the mediocre players they foolishly took in their idiotic trades. They’ll have to cough up cash. And lots of it. KG can be had. But they’ll have to offer cash in addition to players. That’s the bottom line.

To the Lakers front office: You made this bed, you’ll have to sleep in it. I doubt you have the gumption to do the right thing after all the wrong moves you have made. The damage from the Shaq trade is not over yet. To make it be over, you’ll have to cough up some major dough to get someone like KG, accept that you’ll have to pay tons of luxuary tax, and MAYBE get to keep Kobe. Short of that, the worst case scenario that I predicted 3 years ago in the aftermath of the Shaq trade will happen: You’ll end up with neither Shaq, nor Kobe, nor a single player from the championship years. The Lakers will be another Clippers (if not already, with the ex-Clippers on the roster as the main attraction of the team). In that scenario, the team will also be without Jerry West AND Mitch Kupchak, the latter overseeing the complete gutting of the team before his firing. The team will be without Phil Jackson and any of the old coaching staff. It’ll be a sad repeat of the New York Knicks. And who knows, maybe some day Jerry Buss will wake up hung over and puking in his yach in Italy and just before drowning in his own vomit think “oh what a mess.”
