UPDATE: It looks like the Lakers are interested in picking up Finley…

Yahoo: A league source also said the Los Angeles Lakers eventually could have interest in Finley as an “insurance player” to help strengthen their own bench.

Would you guys pick up the vet for the post-season run?

Sporting News: Speculation around the league, though, has Finley looking at league powers like the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics. “There are other teams, championship-caliber teams that want Michael,” Thomas said. “But he is not going to be in a hurry. If you know Michael, you know he is going to think about this very carefully and make the right decision for him and his family. He won a ring with San Antonio and he will never forget that. So, that will weigh into his decision.”

He can still knock wide-open three balls so I think he’ll still be a good addition to the team if ever that happens.

I’m always down for experienced Vets.

Bring him on… We can use another vet, he can still knock down shots and he’s also a solid defender! Come on Fin… You know you have a better chance winning another on with us.

If he could provide a reliable spot-up shooter off the bench, it would be a very good thing. We know he has the stroke. I’m all for this.

Good fit ! I think he would be a key for the Lakers, esp. for the playoffs.

This definately would be a prudent move for us.

Norm Nixon (on Lakers Live) doesn’t think the Lakers will make a move for Finley. Ah well. They did pretty well tonight anyway – no reason to mess with the works, I guess.

Well I hope he doesn’t wait too long to decide, I don’t think Phil is not gonna wait for him to decide when he feels like it, the triangle offense is not learned over night, just look at Ron ron. He is starting to know the triangle now, if MP want to win another ring he knows who are last years champs.

    lets get it done

You have to think, if the Spurs let him go, how much more does Finley have in the tank? Great locker room guy who can help out with some of the younger players, but as far as effective on the hardwood, he might be a shadow of his former self.

gotta keep in mind bro, the spurs didn’t actually let go of michael finley; he personally requested to be released himself. i guess it’s dark times in san antonio, eh? this would be a great move, but the lakers have had a recent history of not liking to make late season acquisitions… but in all seriousness, this is a very low-risk high reward move. it’s not like finley’s one of those players that takes awhile to adjust (usually for reasons like normally being a number 1 option or always wanting the ball in his hands). he simply plays off the ball and hits shots. he can be an asset anywhere, really. hopefully we do it!
