Kevin McHaleI found this interesting in the latest report from the Star Tribune. McHale makes it seem like there were legit KG trade rumors going around, but now since they didn’t obtain another top 10 pick, it may be that Garnett remains a Timberwolf come fall.

Star Tribune: Finally, after a week of smoke, some fire:

The newest Timberwolves first-round draft pick is Corey Brewer, an athletic, versatile — and, yes, fiery — forward with a championship pedigree and enough character references to fill a bunch of résumés. And one of his new teammates is, at least for now, Kevin Garnett.

Oh, the rumor mill was rolling. Los Angeles. Phoenix. Atlanta. Late in the day, Charlotte. There were rumors of two-team trades as well as three- and four-team trades that would have had players and picks traveling all over the country, rumors that gathered steam as draft time approached. Don’t expect them to slow any time soon.

But in the end Garnett stayed put. And with the seventh overall pick, the Wolves grabbed Brewer, who brings with him two NCAA championship rings from Florida, the ability to blanket both guards and forwards on defense and an offensive game that continues to improve but is already clutch.

Contragulations for ruining a 10-time all-stars career Mchale you incompetent sack of dirt. Don’t expect to be keeping your job much longer.

  • Rpoc

Ha, they seriously might just wait until trade deadline in Feb.

  • lakersforlife77

I was going to but hZm doesn’t like people cursing so I was trying to be courteous in respect to him. But you’re right he is what you mentioned

  • kgmvp

Why is it too late to trade KG you still have july and august crazy kevin mchale

  • DeepFrost

McHale is a BITCH… I’m starting to hate him… I feel like he chose keepin’ KG with the Wolves for some time over sendin’ him to the Lakers…

A true Laker hatin’ motherfuckin’ Celtic… a goddamn piece o’ SHIT!..

though I still hope Mitch & Dr. Buss got somethin’ up their sleeves…

…whew… sorry guys… had to spit it out to cool off…

  • Conor

    How ugly is mchale!?

  • Justin M

No surprise, Lakers still have done nothing. This is getting me mad. If the Lakers just want to keep the roster the same and see how their season goes they should just say it instead of keeping all their fans in suspense about a trade or trades that are never going to happen.

  • wes22

its time to ponder the things dat had happened the past few weeks to our laker team…the trade demand of kobe, the insider, the lies of FO,the inability to make a trade, the draft picks..every laker fan in this earth like me waited this draft day, atleast,a trade,a good pick from the draft would delight us all but unfortunately we are all disgruntled of what is done..some hated kobe for his public demand for a trade,we curse mitch cupcake,we lambasted the buss family.after all this things that had happened, who’s to blame? KOBE? MITCH? BUSS FAMILY? all of us lakers fans just wanted our great team be great again..3 years of waiting is too much for us,hopefully the FO make a gradual change for us to be competitive again..hopefully this will serve as a wake up call to the FO that, not only kobe wanted to win but the whole laker fans wanted to WIN! just thinkin aloud!!!

  • Lakers Dynasty

Mchale is all of the above!!

  • David

On top of all you guys mentioned, he looks like Frankenstein too. That son of a bitch.

Maybe Jerry West is coming July 1. Remember he still under contract with Memphis until this date, so maybe there is hope

  • gcdeen

sad sad sad. another 3 guys with potential. we should of made some moves to get the #5 pick or the #8 pick and then trade that w/ players to minnesota for garnett. jerry west would have gotten this done. another problem is that mchale is horrible too. hey mitch, look how the blazers are running things, man, now that’s management! grow some and make some moves!

Kobe gone by now and the Suns with KG, so I guess things aren’t that bad! :-)

  • lakerfan81

Not that I’m trying to defend Mitch Kupchak but most of the things people are calling him out for are just rediculous . I’ll be the first person to tell you that he’s made some bad mistakes and that he hasn’t done alot to make the team a contender. However you can’t call him out for not making a KG trade and you can’t call him out for pickups like (boozer, Artest and Davis) which never were going to happen (and in the case of artest shouldn’t) I think Mitch tried to do most if not all of these trades that people are mentioning (at least the ones that make sense because alot of them do not make any sense at all). DO you honestly think that they didn’t call Jordan ask about trades for the #8 pick or ainge (who is the worst GM in the league) for the #5. Quite frankly they didn’t want what we had to offer. Most of you don’t understand how the NBA works. You cant Brow beat someone into making a trade. You call the team up and make a proposal then you negotiate until you come to an agreement that both people agree on, which most of the time (99%) does not happen the talks usually end with the proposal. I know West is an amazing GM but I don’t think he could have pulled off a KG trade before the Draft. i don’t. He couldn’t have done more than what I’m sure Mitch did and make proposals. I know everyone is upset that a KG trade didn’t happen but get off the F Mitch stuff its annoying.

I am sure that those talks have occurred and will start up again on sunday. But all you can do is make the proposal and see if indy will take it you can not make them do it. And as far as trading Odom and Bynum for o’neal you have to put yourself in Jerry Buss’ shoes. Would you be willing to pay millions of dollars in Luxary tax for a player and trade unless you were certain that it makes your team better. and overpaying for O’neal does not necessarily make your team better. If it did not make the team any better than you would be paying 20 million dollars in luxary tax for nothing. Thats a hard decision to make. Easy for the fans who have nothing staked in it though.

  • _HuStLiN_PhEnOm_

Charlotte already sent Brandan Wright to the Golden State Warriors. With that said, I believe the Golden State Warriors may package a deal around Brandan Wright for KG.

  • kyler

you kno whose fault it i this its not cupcake nor mchale its boston the deal was gonna be done but they didn’t want to give up Al jefferson

  • lakerfan81

hustlin thats obviously not true since Charlotte trade Wright who they picked at 8 for richardson.

Very good point but I disagree first off Buss already said he is willing to pay the luxary tax, KG asked Buss if he was willing to give him an extension and Buss said yes, but he wasn’t going to pay the 15% increase that KG has on his contract now that I can agree on. Second, we have nothing to offer and this is because Mitch has brought in has beens that have done nothing, so yeah how can we trade when we have nothing to offer history speaks for itself, the only reason we one 3 championships straight is because he didn’t modify what the Jerry West did, once he traded shaq, he went on to trade Caron and brought a huge contract for Brain Grant that we are still paying I believe and we have Kwame wow!!!! this butterfinger licking guy can’t hold on to the ball if you put super glue on him, Bynum is a good player but Kobe is right on this one, I wouldn’t want to wait in my prime for this guy to develop, so basically we are back when we traded shaq with no players a player that is pissed off and nowhere to go, is really sad that these are our Lakers until and when some shake up occurs…

  • rmeazy82

I feel like kobe i have no faith in our F.O. we can make all the excuses in the world for why we didn’t make a move. It seems like every team in our division made a move to get better, I can’t say the say thing for us. We are holding on to bynum like he is the best thing we got! Let that dude go if we can get help right now. True that 99% of trades dont go thru but every other team was batting 1000 last night except for you guessed it.. The Lakers.. We better make some kind of move soon!

    Its never 2 late MChale

  • lakerfan81

Shins74. I know buss is willing to pay the luxary tax, he has always been willing to put out he money to bring in big time players. But why pay the tax for a trade that gets you a player that does not make the team better. He’d be willing to pay for KG in a heartbeat, but what about paying for O’neal if you have to overpay to get him. Thats a much harder decision to make. But it is easy for a fan to make the choice because the fan is not putting out millions of dollars to do so. that was the point I was trying to make.

  • Justin M

Man the cause of all this fustration is not Mitch, Kobe, or the FO. It’s RIC BUCHER! He is the one that is blowing this whole thing up way out of porportion and getting us angry and pissed off. He is basically turning us against the Lakers and he is succeeding, just look at all the crap were writring about Mitch, the Buss, Family, and the FO. He said there is no chance of kobe being in a Lakers jersey next season, no chance that KG will be on the Lakers(we had plenty of chances) and KG will go to PHX for in a three team deal where Amare ends up with the Bobcats(If Dantoni said Amare doesn’t want to go to Atlanta what makes you think he’ll play for the bobcats?) and on draft night he had the balls to say even if the Lakers get KG, Kobe would “consider” staying with the Lakers, but even then he still will want out! Come on. He should not have a job on espn next year and Lakers fans and Kobe fans could make sure that happens. It’s just a thought guys, don’t kill me for it lol. Peace

  • DeepFrost

    I still hope KG’s comin’… cuz something’s too fishy with Dr. Buss & Co…

    Totally agree.

  • LakerKobe4Life

Well, I 110% GUARANTEE that Kevin Garnett WILL NOT re-sign with the Timberwolves next summer. Trust me, Kevin McHale is just bluffing, they know KG isn’t going to re-sign with them next summer, so what choice do they have? They either trade him to the best possible destination for the best possible deal on the table, which is the Lakers, or they lose KG next summer and they get NOTHING. I’ve said this before, Kevin McHale is gonna have to make a move, cuz his position as the GM is in total jeopardy as he’s shown that he hasn’t taken this team anywhere with a great franchise player in Kevin Garnett. So, he’s on the edge of getting FIRED. They’re gonna have to make a decision quick, whether it’s the right choice or the wrong.

For me to respect KG, I would like to see him be more of a leader like Kobe Bean Bryant. KG is a quiet loyal person, and that doesn’t do it for me. He should be in the media and speak for himself and state what he wants or does not want. If he wants to go and only go to the Lakers, then I want to hear it from KG. Samething, if he wants to go and only go to the Suns or whereever, be a MAN KG and speak to the world and say it.

You act too much like a little boy, that is in hiding. I respect Kobe for his expressed frustrations, at least you know where he stands, he wants to play for the Lakers if Kupcake AND the Buss Family finally is done with their 3 year vacation and GETS SOME TALENT. I would do the same thing if I was Kobe Bryant and I would say it louder, get off of your A*ses and do it NOW.

KG, be a MAN (no longer a high school boy) and tell Kevin Mchale that you will opt out if you are NOT traded to whoever you want to play for. Now if you want to stay in Minnesota, also state that, but you would lose a lot of credibility staying with a loser for 13 years consecutive.

Bottom line–KG, you are not acting like a leader (as in Kobe or Magic), you are presently acting like a high school kid, get it!!!!!

  • DeepFrost

I wonder what does Billy Kupchak have to say about it…

  • aaron

i dont get it? this guy is an idiot its his fault that garnett is loosing, i think mitch and kevin are brothers. there both idiots.

in fact, you can quote me on that. and when the last day to trade comes down in february, you’ll say that “gcdeen” guy was right. then we can all celebrate because he’ll be a laker.

It’s not that hard to predict, look at McFail’s track record.
