The Marbury drama continues… He claims he has a verbal agreement with the Celtics, *cough* TAMPERING *cough*, but he also claims he could play for two teams; could it be the Lakers?

Hoopsworld: In an hourlong interview with The Post, Marbury also said another NBA team has made an overture toward him. Miami is known to have expressed interest.

I know I’ll be able to sign with two teams,” Marbury told The Post.

Marbury would be wrong for the Lakers. This team is built for the long hall and everyone knows their role. Marbury demands the ball and has a huge ego that won’t work with this team. On top of that, he doesn’t know the triangle. Most people take a full season to grasp it. Bad move for Lakers. Let him go to Boston. He’ll destroy their chemistry and drag them down.

I see were you are going w/ this but think of this…what if he doesn’t mess up the chemistry in boston? I think if the lakers can get him then they should. If he messes up the chemistry they can always trade or just sit him in the bench. Besides, no matter where he goes, it’s pretty much his last chance and he knows it. I don’t think he will mess it up. Remember Rodman, lakers were the last chance.

So if NY releases Marbury straight up and we don’t have to do a trade, we should pay for his services to just sit on the bench and keep him out of Boston? Not sure that’s the right business decision considering how much money we have on the books right now.

He’s going to go with the Celtics or Spurs.

  • xtro

    he’s going to L.A.

  • ICE CREAM MAN

Sometimes you got to do what you got to do to win the war. Back in the 80’s when Boston found out that L.A. got michael thompson from portland Larry Bird was pissed. He said that he (out of his poket) would of gave portland the 100k (alot back then)that the lakers gave just to keep him away from us. So sometimes you just got to sacrafice a knight or rook to avoid getting a checkmate.

  • Mitch4Pres

i hope we can sign him if for nothing more than keeping him out of boston. marbury may or may not work out but if garnett can turn rondo and perkins into legitimate players then imagine what he could do with marby. just like ice cream man said, this is chess it ain’t checkers.

  • LakersFirst

I hope the Knicks screw Starbury and hold on to him just so he can’t join a championship team.

Actually, I think the NBA should put a stop to these players who get bought out, only to go and join a championship team. I don’t have a problem with teams buying out a player’s contract, however, I think that a player must be on a team’s roster for a minimum of 41 games in order to be on the team’s playoff roster.

  • dcb2069

its not tampering if the knicks allow him to talk to other teams (which they have)

  • Paul

HE should sign with Miami :)

  • Nate

If the NBA did that LakersFirst, the Lakers wouldn’t have had Gasol for the playoffs last year… he only played 27 games for the Lakers last year.

  • gugy

Marbury can take Boston to another level or can completely destroy them. Would be interesting which result will come out of this trade if indeed happen. I hope for the second option.

I don’t think we need him. Specially now that Farmar is back in full force. Our team is good. Just leave the way it is. Bynum, Ariza and Farmar are playing way better than last year. I think we are unstoppable in the West.

I agree dude. Players nowadays demand buyouts just because they wanna go back to their old team after they get traded. WELL YOU GOT TRADED, YOUR ON A DIFFERENT TEAM, SO JUST PLAY!

Lakers 24 7 is making a point when players are BOUGHT OUT….gasol was traded not bought out.

True, but going out publicly and making statements as such will piss off fans, coaches and franchises (as the case here). You think Boston fans want Marbury now? Think again…

  • Fred A.

I say YES!!!!!! Bring Starbarry!!!!!!! He would make a great 3rd string point gaurd behind Fisher and Farmer. :)

  • LEADERFISH

If I am the knicks I wait til the last minute before I buy out Marbaby. See how much he wants to play this season. I bet he goes to 2 million and a deal is worked out.

That’s different. Gasol was traded, his contract was NOT bought out. There’s a difference.

  • T-Dub

A “Rondo/Marbury” backcourt would murder a “Fisher/Farmar” backcourt. That will make the difference in the series!!

I like to see your continued faith in our Laker team. As always your lack of faith never ceases to amaze me.
