Looking down the Garnett road

Here is a great read from the O.C. Register blog. Keep the hope alive fellas!

O.C. Register Blog: The Lakers walked away from draft night feeling fine, expressing these opinions: There is time (all summer), and there is still opportunity to make the trades that they want.

Minnesota didn’t trade Garnett, meaning the Lakers could have come in with the best deal for him, because no one else did.

Keep the hope alive, my friends! BELIEVE!

  • Coca

Like Ive been saying, Lakers dont have enough and even if we did, the fans put more enticing packages and ideas together than our FO. Mitch has no vision, thats why I hate his fucking guts. Also, Bynum needs to be shipped the fuck out… I hate this fucking kid

  • Coca

Oh, and if you guys dont think that Noah to Chicago didnt have anything to do with KG, then your dreaming

  • ericthaimyshoe

    “We Believe!”

  • Lakers305

See?? I did say that Bitch Kupcake sucked as GM. Lamar Odom is clearly better and cheaper than both Jason Richardson and Ray Allen.
After this draft and the moves we saw minnesota and BOston do, we clearly had very very good if not the best possibility to get KG.

So this is clearly a disappointment, we all were asking ourselves why didnt the Lakers contact Danny Ainge directly or why he didn’t give MJ a call. not only that they could have sweeten the deal by taking Hudson’s or Jaric’s contract—->they could have bought them out, so it wouldn’t count against the cap.

  • http://kb24.com MO6

Praying, Believing and doing whatever to get KG in a Lakers uniform. I think we do have the best chance to land KG.

  • LAalltheway

Hmm…I’d like to think that they made a sweet offer to Charlotte and Boston. The Celtics probably just didn’t want us to have KG because they’re bitter that he didn’t want to play there, because they turned down JO. As far as the Bobcats go, man I KNOW we could have offered more than Richardson. Are we really doing everything we can???

  • Rpoc

    Noah = Bust

  • magicbalala245

yo man i still believe KG is coming to LA cause if KG really wanted to go somewhere else let’s say suns why didn’t he talk to Steve Nash
he talk to Kobe and talk how they will play together and dominate the league i just have a great feeling that KG will be loose from his shackles from the Timberwolves chained him in and let him free and go play with the greatest player in the world KOBE BRYANT

  • Kobe For Pres

    Lets go get gasol

  • lakersforlife77

I’m still keeping the hope alive but there are two factors that keep the fear of it not happening alive:

1)The Lakers cannot make a 2-way straight up deal. Minnesota does not want Odom’s contract and without Odom it’s nearly impossible to match salary without adding Radmanovic, whose contract is even worse than Odom’s. So it would have to be a 3 way deal at the least, possibly sending Odom to a team for young talent or expiring K’s. And that scares me because I don’t know if Mitch will be able to pull off a 3 team deal.

    2) Garnett plays a big role in his own departure. He said no to Boston, and the Timberwolves backed off. He said yes to Phoenix and LA and the Wolves considered their options with us and Phoenix. Because of this, Garnett might not get traded because of his lack of desire to be traded all together. He says he would like to go to Phoenix or LA, but he’s never said “I want out and I want to go here NOW”. Minnesota is already reluctant to trade him in the first place, so that might lower his odds of being traded.

But besides those two factors theres lots of hope, considering Garnett could opt out next season and Minnesota could get desperate to trade him, and Odom’s contract could start looking better and better. And also the fact that it looks like nobody else has a standing offer for Garnett. So keep the hope alive people :D

You seriously better stop fucking around on the website and get your ass on the phone

  • Hustla

    Take it easy now…..lol

Ive always believed we can land KG, we fought off Phoenix, Celtics, Now we have to fight off dallas and GSW.

    WE BELIEVE!!!!!! DO IT MITCH!!!!!!

  • mikedeezy2k8

what does mitch think about during the day id like to know how his life is, does he know hes a complete fucking idiot or what? mitch stop being gay and dowhat needs to be done and i will respect you.

  • Mitch Kupchak

Trades are difficult to make. It is not as easy as waving some magic wand. I have discussed a three-way deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Chicago Bulls. I will send Kobe to Chicago for Noah straight up, then I will send Lamar Odom to Minnesota for the rights to their Mascot. You all thought I was incompetent, but I’ll prove you all WRONG!!!

  • punkjones

We really do have a good package for Garnett. It just turns out that as many expected McHale truly hates us. More than that I really believe that the Wolves are completely content to let Garnett’s contract expire and have the 23 million off the books. Why else make such a stink about Lamar’s 2 year contract. Jeez. He’s a good player and doesn’t make THAT much. Bynum would have been number 4 in this draft without a doubt, better than Celtics 5 pick. He’s a big man they could build around. 19 got us a damn good prospect, too. Seriously, McHale says KG will be a Wolf this year, and that’s the way it will stay. I’m not going to get excited about any Garnett talk. I don’t think he’s going anywhere.

I really wish we could Gasol. Just don’t know how we could do it. Doesn’t seem like we’re even trying. Why is he not on the radar for the Lakers? I would personally do the JO trade for LO and Bynum because I think he would help a lot, but it’s not going to happen. Lakers are too stubborn and so is Indy. I don’t see any compromise on either side. Not unless Kobe says do it and I will stay.

  • ryguy2303

    whats the latest news fellas?

  • mikedeezy2k8

i say fuck it just rebuild and trade kobe, we arent going to do any big trades kobe is gonna wanna be traded just rebuild bitch, i mean mitch. keep baby bynum and build around him and let kobe go somewhere else ot get rings… asswipe

  • ray

maybe the reason we haven’t attempted to get gasol is because our best offerings have already been saved for a trade for garnett?? a trade yet to come….lets hope!

  • ryguy2303

yea, mikedeezy we dont need your negativity around here.
    theres still hope

  • mikedeezy2k8

but im saying is that even if we get garnett people are coming to the conclusion that we are going to be the best, come on tmac and yao cant do it, and thats what are we gonna be lookin at here kg and kobe, makes us one hell of a team but not hcampionship material. we still need the supporting cast and with odom gone we wont ahve it this year maybe next year tho if we get garnett.

  • LAalltheway

Maybe we should go ahead and announce an interest in Gasol to let Minnesota know that we have other options to explore. If they really are desperate to trade him, let THEM explore 3 team options since they’re so damn picky. We’re the only team that is:

    1)willing to pay up
    2)somewhere Garnett wants to play

And at least we won’t be wasting our time if it turns out we really don’t have enough to offer the T-Wolves or a third party, and have the option to land Gasol before some other team picks him up. I’m tired of us playing bitch to the Timberwolves. KG needs us (and they need to trade him) as much as we need him.

  • lakersforlife77

Just because we go into rebuilding doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed to become as great as we once were. It takes good decisions, and with our fo, do you really want them to start a rebuilding program? We could go a decade without another playoff win or appearance, and 20 years without a championship. Or we can build now and go for a championship immediately.

  • Lakerboy248

    “Keep the HOPE alive”

I’ve been saying that this whole time!!!
but im saying is that even if we get garnett people are coming to the conclusion that we are going to be the best, come on tmac and yao cant do it, and thats what are we gonna be lookin at here kg and kobe, makes us one hell of a team but not hcampionship material. we still need the supporting cast and with odom gone we wont ahve it this year maybe next year tho if we get garnett.
That’s sad that you are comparing tmac(who has never won a playoff series) and yao ming, to a Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett combo. How about you just think about that for a second. How can you compare them.

And if we get garnett, you kno how attractive that will be for people to come here the next couple years. Like Jalen Rose said “Get Garnett and I will play for food stamps.” We can get cheap established veterans within a couple years and make a great run, with two players that are in the Top 5 of the league.

  • DYNASTY

tmac and yao cant do it cuz they suck playing together and if one aint injuried than the other one is.thats why they really suck!

  • LAalltheway

I agree, lakersforlife77. T-mac and Yao? Come on. And I heard some critics saying they would be like AI and Carmelo. Kobe has way more offensive versatility than either of those guards, or anyone for that matter, and KG is one of the top 5 power forwards of all time, in my opinion. And KG plays with passion. Don’t underestimate that. If he’s put on a contender, we’re gonna see some fire out of that man that we’ve never seen before. And it’s gonna be scary. And yeah, it would be open season for vets who are looking for a ring. That’s why I hope this deal, if we can pull it off, happens sooner than later.

And check out hoopsworld.com if you haven’t recently. They have an article on the Lakers’ draft that’s pretty interesting, but I don’t know how to do links.

If we cant get KG lets get Gasol f@$k JO he sucks balls and is WAY to OVERRATED! Gasol would be a good fit and he is younger and cheaper and he is from Spain and can play with his brother.

really good article..u think we we probably overgiv for kg..i’m willing to do it if it gives us a team that will get us to the finals or a championship..because thats what kobe wants and thats the only reason he will stay with the lakers!

Lol i never said to trade kobe you are referring to the person who I quoted. So you can hate me even more now.

  • punkjones

Ridiculous. On one hand we’re supposed to be have faith that Mitch will be able to pry away KG from McHale when KG won’t help us by asking for it to happen, and on the other we’ve got someone saying to rebuild around BYNUM?!!!

Hold on. Please. Both of those are self-destructive moves at this point. To have faith in Mitch to get KG is going to end in utter depression. Sorry, they already said no. What the hell has changed? They are fine with letting him opt out despite what knucklehead Bucher says (who was wrong about all things KG so far). They wanted draft picks. Draft is over. Unfortunately the closest we got was when Jerry and Glen were talking about it as owners. Once it went to McHale and Kupchak it was over.

I don’t even want to address the horror of building around Bynum a nineteen year old who is a very immature 19 at that. He has so long to go on his game, his attitude, his stamina, his body growth, his defense that it isn’t funny. I for one, and Phil and Kobe for two and three and so many others got so sick of watching him crumble in the second half of this past year. It was awful.

He is far from prime time. Years away. He needs to go. You don’t trade the franchise player away. Ever. Kobe is hands down the best player in the league. I know it’s cliche at this point to say so but it’s true. Just the fact that the guy can take over the games the way he did at the end of the year, you had to watch. It was insane. When have you ever seen anyone do that. No one since Jordan and Wilt before him. He is the most captivating, scintillating player the league has seen since … well MJ again. And while he may not be as dominant as MJ he is arguably more exciting and spectacular. Those threes this year were unbelievable. No one can pull out the miraculous shots he does. That is Magic-esque actually.
