Seems like that Kwame for Camby rumor that I posted moments ago is now defunct, according to the Denver Post.

The Nuggets, who have no draft picks, have described guard Von Wafer as their second-round pick this year and believe he is more talented than anyone they saw at the NBA predraft camp. … Word is the Nuggets laughed at the Lakers last week when they called dangling butter-fingered big man Kwame Brown for Marcus Camby.

  • One35

The Lakers have to add a pick and Farmar if they want a chance.

  • leo

lol tats funny kwame for anyone is a good trade

  • no_garnett_then….

yeah thats true kwame really sucks and everybody has noticed….
best thing lakers could do is to wait for his contract expire and kick his sorry ass home…

  • dcb2069

how is that the best thing to let him walk for nothing? youre gonna need him in most trades for a superstar just to make the salaries add up.

  • no_garnett_then….

If they throw in Walton, Kwame, and a pick I think denver would give up Camby, and they still have Nene left…

  • arnel,chicago,IL

yea we all sort of knew that trade was not happenin… just get jo with keeping lo and resign mihm and walton and mle for grant hill.. starting lineup
    tinsley
    kobe
    walton
    odom
    jo
bench-evans,farmar,hill,turiaf,mihm and cook or rad vlad…
this is a contender for the ship…
    go lakers

  • Dan

Laughed at? I’m taking that as disrespect. Can’t wait to stomp on that team next year with Kobe, JO and Artest.

  • lamar_odom

lol hahahaa funny but sad at the same time

  • KBFAN_24

WE REALLY DONT NEED CAMBY, BUT IF WE GET HIM WHAT THE HELL.FOR ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT SAY WE SHOULD SIGN MO WILLIAMS, IT’S NOT HAPPENING. THE LAKERS NO DOUBT ARE GOING TO BE THE TOP 3 TEAMS IN THE WEST. I KNOW THIS IS GOING TO BE BIG AND WE WILL GET VERTEREN HELP AND EVERYTHING WE NEED TO CONTEND.KOBE MVP NEXT SEASON.
    088 STARTING LINE UP:
    NOT FARMER I KNOW THAT
    KOBE
    ARTEST
    LO(MAYBE)IF TRADED THEN JO
    MIHM(CAMBY IF WE GET HIM)

    SUMMER POSSIBILITIES:
1.SIGN PARKER\AND WALTON THEN TRADE THEM WITH COOK\AND OR FILLER AND SECOND ROUND PICKS OR FUTURE PICKS FOR BIBBY AND ARTEST
2.BYNUM, KWAME, SASHA OR COOK, 19TH PICK OR SECOND ROUND PICKS(OR FUTURE 1ST ROUND PICKS) FOR JERMAINE ONEAL.(IF WE CAN MAKE A DEAL WITHOUT LAMAR ODOM)
3.IF PACERS WANT ODOM THEN ODOM,BYNUM,AND SASHA OR COOK FOR ONEAL AND MIKE DUNLEVY.
    4.LUKE AND COOK FOR ARTEST.T
    5.SIGN GRANT HILL FOR MINIMUM
    6.KWAME AND FILLER FOR CAMBY
7.DONT MAKE A BID FOR GARNETT OLNY FOR A LOW PRICE. IF THAT DONT HAPPEN HE WILL END UP IN LA NEXT SUMMER WHEN HE OPTS OUT AND SIGNS WITH THE LAKERS FOR MINIMUM.
8.I HIGHLY DOUBT WE WILL GET MO WILLIAMS OR BILLUPS.NEITHER RASHARD LEWIS SO THOSE PEOPLE THAT SAY JUST SIGN BIILUPS. MO
    AND LEWIS ITS NOT HAPPENING.
9.IF WE CANT JERMAINE WHICH I THINK WE WILL ANY WAY WE CANT GO AFTER GASOL FOR PROBABLY A CHEAPER PRICE OR GET A PACKAGE OF JARRET JACK AND ZACK RANDALF SOME HOW.

WHATEVER HAPPENS WILL BE A WAY BETTER DEFENSIVE AND OFFENSIVE TEAM NEXT YEAR. THIS WILL BE A GRAT SUMMER. LAKERS TO WIN IT ALL NEXT SEASON. AND KOBE WONT BE TRADED HE WILL RETIRE A LAKER.

  • Cooleo24

    Kwame makes the team worse..

  • Jeff

This really doesnt surprise me. If I am the GM of a professional team i dont trade anybody straight up for kwame brown….. err, unless my name is Mitch Cupchak. Kwame sucks and hes proven to be a worthless big man.. Thank Mitch for that great acquisition.

  • Koobay is the massiah

Over the past 2 years kwame Brown hasn’t done shit but only sit there on the bench with his damn thumb in his mouth looking at kobe to do some kind of Houdini power shit (WHICH HE HAS) to get that team to the championship… laker front office jooneman ean Kwame Brown bezanesh khyaboon and get on with your life……. KOOOOOOOOBAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!

  • emericandream

what did the Lakers expect the response to be by offering such garbage ?

most everyone on here has came up with (as of now) unrealistic options for the lakers in the off season.

we need to realize that our options are very limited and we need to take it one step at a time, NOT coming up with HUGE packages that i feel most likely won’t happen.

it’s true we do need a decent big man, but the lakers need to think about this decision very conscientously because it can make or break our future.

i’ve heard the talks of acquiring jermaine o’neal. i’m fine with that, but what does that mean we have to give up ? if it means giving up lamar odom, i don’t think it would be such a good idea. kobe and o’neal could get us out of the first round possibly, but to the conference finals or the finals, is highly doubted. a scenario with odom, jo, and bryant would be more believable, but that scenario right now is very bleak.

  • lakerfan81

This doesn’t surprise. If i was an owner and my GM traded marcus camby for kwame brown I would fire him on the spot and im pretty sure noone else would ever hire him again.

Alot of the trades on here that people are coming up woith are quite rediculous. First of as far as signing free agents the lakers can only sign free agents to the mid level exception 30 mil for six years the league wont allow it it was part of the the deal that was made during the lockout season. So billups and mo williams and rashard lewis are all FA that the lakers have no posiblity of getting.

Secondly the lakers are not going to get KG. he would have to specifically ask to be traded to the lakers and he hasnt and probably wont do that. The ron artest traded probably wont happen either. Teams normally dont normally trade within their own division and the kings could do much better for artest than what we have to offer.

thirdly a trade for o’neal would almost certainly have to include both bynum and Odom. The pacers are not going to trade and all star PF for a future potential star in bynum. And they are not going give up a 7 footer without getting a 7 footer in return,

The trade option for the lakers are pretty bleak. I dont think there are many teams that will trade for brown but some might because his contract is expiring. so heres what i see happeing this off season. THe lakers will probably trade odom and bynum for Oneal they will probably try to see if they can sign grant hill for the MLE they will resighn walton and mihm. If they keep their draft ppick they will either take Crtittenton or rudy fernandez. If acie law is there (which is doubtful) they will take him..
SO next years line up will be

    C: Brown/Mihm
    PF: Oneal
    SF: walton/Hill
    SG: Bryant
    PG: ????? Farmar/williiams/trade

with this line up they will be better defensively but i think they lose something offensively Odom is an amazing playmaker for someone that is 6’10. But hthey will make some of that up with hill. With this lineup they will have a better chance of getting out of the 1st round but I dont know the suns/spurs/mavs/rockets/jazz are all very good teams. the west is loaded with so much talent.

  • Lakerjones

    Hmm –
Well, since the Lakers were shopping Kwame and I don’t think they want to jeapordize their proposed deal for O’ Neal, sounds like it probably will be Lamar and Bynum going. I would have loved it if we could have kept LO to go with JO but it may not be.

I hear what Lakerfan 81 is saying about Odom, but honestly they aren’t utilizing his playmaking skills much anyway. He’s basically been a great rebounder for the team and a very inconsistent scorer. They tried to make him playmaker at the 3 and it didn’t fly.

If Jermaine simply replaces him at power forward it’s still an improvement for the Lakers as it gives them a bona fide second scorer behind Kobe. Lamar never figured out how fit with Kobe’s game. With O’ Neal I think that will be very natural.

Keeping Kwame is not that bad because he’s a hell of a defender in the post, one of the biggest bodies around, and he can focus on that while playing center to O’ Neal’s power forward. That’s a hell of a big front court.

I believe the thinking in giving up Odom is that O’ Neal doesn’t want to play center. If we get rid of Kwame as well as Bynum we’ve got no center at all. People have talked about signing Chris Mihm but does anyone think he can ever really play again? It’s been almost two years. If he could don’t you think we would have seen it by now?

    the nuggets suck

  • Justin M.

Kwame may be a good person off the court, i dont know, but he really sucks at his job. If i was the GM of the nuggents i would of laughed to, He cant catch a ball, Cant finsh right next to the rim and goes up for shots instead of dunking whens he’s close (mabey that y kobe cant get many assists.) If we could get any superstar player by getting rid of kwame and keeping odom i dont see y there should be any heisitation. It would really be a championship team if we added J.O and Artest. Srry kwame but it was a mistake to aquire u and it will be a mistake to keep you because your not doing your job in a lakers jersey. Hope u have a break out season soon because i think if u dont next year ull have an early retirment.
