Just for funsies, what do you think the Lakers 07-08 record will be? Sound-off in the comments!

HOOPSWORLD.COM: The schedule for 2007/8 NBA Season was finally released on Thursday. The Los Angeles Lakers have an interesting to-do list with a particularly brutal February. Considering Kobe Bryant’s still festering trade demand, it’s difficult to predict how the season will pan out.

Will the roster be the same on opening night as it is in early August? Will players like Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum be able to work alongside Bryant as if nothing was said? How will that team with such a shaky foundation handle adversity?

There are no easy answers for the Lakers. They appear to be a good team but not a great team. For the fans who are used to more than a round or two of playoffs each year, that’s just not enough.

But the schedule remains . . .

October/November
A challenging start to the season with the opener in LA against the Houston Rockets. The Lakers will later face the San Antonio Spurs and Rockets (back-to-back). They’ll get Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics on November 23rd. Other difficult games include visits to the Phoenix Suns and Utah Jazz.

if we get JO and keep LO with kobe…our record will be….
    (also health is great)

56-26 …NBA FINALS AGAINST CELTICS!! LAKERS WIN!

    …and thats when i woke up…. :(

Dark Ice How do you match Oneil’s 19.7M salary without including Odom? You have to come up with 14.9M to make a trade work.

I do not think the Celtics will make the finals. If it was 3-on-3 basketball then they would but basketball requires 5 players. They could but I think Chicago and Detroit (if they don’t implode like they did against Cleveland) are the two best teams in the East. If Shaq is in shape and Wade is healthy then Miami is up there too but that is not likely. If Cleveland can get a quality PG then they can be up there too.

I Think technically it is, though I’m not 100% sure of Cooks base year compensation on his contract. But isn’t that basically the same trade that the Celtics made to get Garnett? and JO isn’t even close to the player that Garnett is.That would only leave the Lakerrs with 10 contracts, 11 if they give Coby Karl a guaranteed contract (unless a trade happens he will not make the team). It would leave the lakers thin in the back court and thin in the front court. It is just not worth it to get O’neil.

is this a joke were going to be the same 8th seed and for GODS sake please change this site, you guys need help with it let me know ill help but please change this site.

Given the fact the FO have not address the defense issue in our line-up… and the team is healthy… I would say 46-36 if Kobe plays.

we still have good bigs if we get JO: JO,Lamar, mihm, ronny, vlade, and with the addition of JO other veteran bandwagoners might wanna come for cheap…. Chris Webber???…also we can sign others…Lakers arent dumb, and JO would flourish under Phil Jackson’s system…just imagine a lineup of Fisher/Kobe/Lamar/JO/Mihm

Here is a trade proposal that I think works. Not my idea though It is from warrenweelim on forum blue and gold.

Brown, Vlad, Sasha (a pick if necessary)
    for

    Kerilenk and Jarren Collins

First why the trade makes sense. The lakes drastically need defensive help and AK is one of the best defenders in the league. AK is not doing much in Utah and he is their highest paid player. They are going to need to cut salary so that when they give Boozer, Okur, and Williams extensions they do not go (too far) into the luxury tax. Brown and Sasha are expiring contracts plus Brown gives them depth in the front court. When Brown and Sasha come off the books next year it saves them almost 10M. Vlad gives them a 3-pt shooter who would probably be pretty good in that system playing with Williams and Boozer.

Two problems with this trade. One. Utah is not likely to deal with the Lakers because they are in the same conference. Two. Vlad was injured most of last season so his value is way down. If he is healthy and ups his numbers at the beginning of the season to about 9-10 ppg then this trade is more likely. One other problem is that the long term financial situation is not too good for the Lakers.

One that is pretty funny. I like the second trade. LO and Kobe for the entire Atlanta team. But if we were trading Kobe to Miami Id want wade. That way there could be a shaq and Kobe part 2.

i would love to have AK, but why would the Jazz wanna help us…and kirelinko to me is on a decline…but yea he is a great defender…the reason we need JO more than anyone out there because he is a great defender and great 2nd option behind kobe plus last i heard JO wantsa be a laker…and that means better chemistry and him and kobe are good friends…also keeping LO at all costs will take so much pressure of him and he would flourish as a 3rd option…PLUS THIER ALL IN THEIR PRIME!!!!

  • lakerfan81

The Jazz might trade with the Lakers if they want to save that 10M. But it would also depend on how Vlad and Kwame play coming off injuries, so a trade would not be able to happen before the season starts. I think that AK would be good for the Lakers because they really need a defensive wing. besides that AK can defend multiple positions. I think one of the reason his numbers are down is because he has had some nagging injuries. With a different environment he might flourish.

I have a good feeling about the lakers this year.

Without JO – Lakers go 50-32

With JO and Odom – Lakers go 60-22

  • lakersforlife77

current roster with no injuries: 45-37
    current roster with injuries: 38-44
    with JO(and LO): 50-32
with JO(and LO) with injuries: 43-39
    with JO no LO: 44-38
with JO no LO, with injuries: 37-45
    without Kobe: 25-57

the only realistic prediction you made was the 25-57 w/o kobe.
otherwise if we have JO and LO your crazy only 50;we would get at least 55(healthy)with the team we have now we were on pace for 52 wins(healthy)now we fixed our pg spot dramaticaly(fish and critt are way better than smush)we would at least get 50(healthy)

Without Kobe: 23-59 (Do not make the playoff)

With Kobe and same roster: 46-36 (5th Seed and make it to the 2nd round)

Kobe,JO,Fisher: 53-29 (3rd Seed and go to Western Con. Finals or further)

Kobe,JO,Artest,Fisher: 59-23 (2nd Seed and go to the Finals and could win)

Kobe,JO,LO,Fisher: 61-21 (2nd Seed and go to the Finals with a lot better chance to win it all)YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! :)

    I think this will happen.

I feel that we still be the best team in the NBA if the GM
makes the right moves knowing KG is gone.
