Lakers rout Warriors for fifth straight win

Lakers Warriors BasketballYahoo! Sports: Kobe Bryant sat at his locker and praised Pau Gasol, both of Bryant’s feet in an ice bucket and two more bags numbing each knee.

On a night when Bryant was far from his dominant self, Gasol showed what a key piece he is for the Los Angeles Lakers despite being overshadowed by superstars. They dearly missed him for the first 11 games, when Gasol was sidelined with a strained right hamstring.

Gasol scored 22 points to lead seven players in double figures and also had 12 rebounds, and the Lakers won their fifth straight game with a 130-97 victory over the Golden State Warriors on Saturday night.

“Pau’s just being Pau,” Bryant said. “He’s one of the best in the game. We missed that.”

Ron Artest added 19 points, five rebounds and four assists, and Bryant had 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and five steals after a slow start to help the Lakers to their highest point total of the season.

Los Angeles had plenty of offensive power to beat the Warriors for a sixth straight time, getting 13 points and five assists from Derek Fisher and 12 points and seven boards from Andrew Bynum. Reserve Shannon Brown added 17 points, including two spectacular dunks.

You can start Vujacic instead of Bryant and still win or have I gone to far with that?

      • http://LakersNation Marwan

  • allthewayLA

we’re unbeatable. i mean i know we’ll have some along the way buts as long as we are healthy, quote me on this: “LAKERS BACK TO BACK”

I know Lakers are going good so far but dont get cocky. The real challenges are ahead. Boston, Cleveland, Orlando are ahead.

So dont get cocky, karma will get you back.

Im a Laker fan so dont assume I’m not.

Exactly. Remember, Boston got off to a very good start last season too and were also talking back to back and then they got plagued by injury and got knocked out of the 2nd round. Please note though that we look WAY better than that Celtics team last season. =)

Guys, 37 more games and Kobe will break a record and make history by becoming the youngest player to play 1000 games. He will break Kevin Garnett’s record. The game that Kobe breaks this record will be Saturday, 6th February at Portland. Hopefully Kobe will explode and destroy the Blazers and break that 4 year losing streak at Portland.

Congratulations Kobe! I wanna see him play 1000 more games after he breaks this record.

    • SmartKobe

He has an outside chance to even break Kareem’s record if he can play til around 39 years of age.

This is how we’re supposed to win games against sub-par teams. I’m so tired of Laker teams playing down to the level of the competition. I don’t want nail-biters against scrub teams. I want a two-isted beat-down like the last few games! I want to dominate!!! I want blood dammit!!!!!
    (Too much?)

      You forgot about cum.

  • Robert

The Lakers blew out GSW, and didn’t even look like they played THAT hard. Whereas the Celtics had to give it their ALL just to beat the Knicks (barely). The Lakers can definitely reserve their strength for the big games, and also for the playoffs, when they REALLY play hard. Look for another Championship, or 2, or 3 (we really have to top the Celdicks in most franchise wins).

  • SmartKobe

Since the Lakers didn’t play their starters alot of minutes they should be ready to beat up on the Nets with plenty to spare.

    • Short Dog

Tell everybody your real name bitch. Dont be a bitch. I’m never going to stop bitch until we settle this. Drive down, walk down,I’ll pick you up i dont give a fuck. Fuck you.
      Short dog
