The Lakers call back up Sun… The Los Angeles Lakers have recalled guard Sun Yue from the NBA Development League’s Los Angeles D-Fenders, it was announced today.

Sun, who became the 25th NBA player assigned to a D-League affiliate this season on March 6, played 4 games (4 starts) with the D-Fenders, averaging 10.3 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.25 blocks in 36.0 minutes.

Originally selected by the Lakers in the second round (40th overall) of the 2007 NBA Draft, Sun signed with the Lakers the following summer (August 25, 2008) shortly after representing China as a member of the Men’s Olympic Basketball Team in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

Making his NBA debut on December 7 versus Milwaukee with four points on 2-of-3 shooting in five minutes, Sun has appeared in 10 games with the Lakers this season, totaling six points, two assists, a steal and a blocked shot in 28 minutes.

We don’t even play Shannon Brown so Sun will get even less playing time.

What is our front office thinking?
In order to lose his “deer in the headlights” appearance on the court, Sun needs to be playing FULL TIME in the D league!

Absolutely agree! Like Nancy Kerrigan said after Tanya Harding’s loser husband beat her with a pipe…”WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY….?”

He looks like he does have skills BUT he needs confidence. This is something that he lacks. The defense knows to bug him enough and he will make a bad pass or even loose the ball. He needs to drive to the whole a couple of times, make some mid range shots and that will not only give him the confidence he needs but will also slow down the defense and give him more room to operate.

He just need some playing time. I’ll take him over Fluke anytime. Hell, i’ll take shit over fluke.

At least Sun has potential to improve. With Fluke, his game is what it is – Garbage. Its not going to improve. Unfortunately, we are stuck with FIVE MORE YEARS of this with Luke and his no talent presence unless Mitch can unload him.
