Great. Now, we can see that Kobe & Coby backcourt that we’ve all wanted to watch. The Los Angeles Lakers have recalled guard Coby Karl from the NBA Development League’s Los Angeles D-Fenders, it was announced today. Karl, who became the 11th NBA player assigned to a D-League affiliate this season on November 28, played 10 games (10 starts) with the D-Fenders, averaging 18.3 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 38.5 minutes while shooting .435 from three-point range and .492 from the field.

In two games with the Lakers this season, Karl, an undrafted rookie out of Boise State, has posted two points, one rebound and two assists in four total minutes.

i wonder what this means. dont do something stupid mitch!

he’s probly going to use him in the Suns game, like laker fans do research, phil said he is the best three point shooter on the team, and he wants that in the suns game, Hope Coby does well… and luke is injured so he wants his bench to play great like when we blew them out last time(i like saying that…hope i could say it again)

I think the reason Coby was called back up is because of the inconsistent play of Sasha, Farmar in the NY game and the inexperince of Critt (if you really think about it Critt only had 1 year in college, so he’s basically a H.S. school player that went to the NBA). Phil was lacking a bigger guard in the NY game and probably could’ve given minutes to Coby. I think Phil just wants the option to use him if needed.

Ut oh, Critt lovers watch out!

I hardly think PJ will want to call up Coby becuase of 2 games they didn’t play well, while they have been playing solid the entire season.

His numbers sound great. I hope he can help the team. We should send Crit down to the D league for a while. He’s not getting any better sitting on the bench. The D league really help Farmar. His play has been solid this year, but I would hardly call Sasha’s play “solid”. He has had a few good games, but has been very inconsistent.

Coby recalled… New Jersey signs guard Billy Thomas yesterday. Does this mean we’re trading away Farmar and Vujacic? I would hate to see Farmar get traded! But it looks like we’re getting J-Kidd.

Inconsistent for 2 games?? Have you been watching? The Lakers bench is slowly starting to become more inconsistent, which is concerning. Going into this road trip, the Lakers bench was #2 in scoring. After this road trip, they’ve fallen to #4. I’m not saying Coby Karl is going to raise those numbers, but I think Phil wants the option of another player being there.

Not to mention more Lakers are still injured (another reason why Coby is probably being called up, to have more man power, just in case). Luke is injured, Kwame, Kobe has his strained groin, and ever since his sprained ankle and concussion (thx Dwight Howard) Turiaf hasn’t been the same.
