I guess nobody else wanted him after all those work-outs.

L.A. Times: The Lakers have re-signed center Chris Mihm, but terms have not been disclosed.

Mihm, 28, didn’t play last season after undergoing reconstructive ankle surgery last November.

He averaged a career-best 10.2 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2005-2006.

The Lakers now have 14 players under contract. The league maximum is 15 players.

Holy sh*t good f*cking move!!!! Damn Mitch you’re doing all the small things right, now bring in the money baby!! bring it home!!! (kg)

  • klao

Is not that they did not want him, Chris was asking for a LOT of money and of course no team was going to pay him, after an injury like his.

At least he works harder than Kwame and even injured he tried playing, that’s what set him back, his desire to play hurt him at the time.

I for one am happy the Lakers re-signed Chris.

  • two0one7

Good, as long as they didn’t over pay (something Mitch has a habit of doing)

  • SILO

Damn it. i send you guys the article. i guess you didnt see it. oh well. Glad hes back. Now we can ship kwames ass out. no more dropping passes and missing lay ups.

so this is how the lakers are looking so far….

    Fisher/Farmar/Javaris (DEEP)TRADE?
    Kobe/Mo Evans/Sasha
    Luke/Vlade
    Lamar/Ronny/Cook
    Bynum/Kwame/Mihm (DEEP) TRADE?

    *Marc Gasol…*Sun Yue….OVERSEAS…

now that our 2 weak positions last year is officially deep…we should trade Farmar and Kwame for Artest….then trade

    OR

trade vlade and farmar for artest….

    Fisher/Kobe/Artest/Lamar/Bynum = STARTERS….hmmm interesting???

Guys with this signing I’m am convinced that the Lakers HAVE made a deal with someone(Pacers or Wolves). There is no other way to explain this signing. They have agreed to a trade and they needed to sign a center, because Bynum and Brown are no longer on the team.

  • http://ld2k.com LD2k

GREAT move for the Lakers. I have a feeling the contract IS in the Lakers favor :)

I agree Ed24 there has to be something else thats brewing behind closed doors. Im sure that the KG deal that involes all of our youngsters is a go. man im excited. Now i just have to figure out what color KG jersey i want to buy the white one or the purple one.

  • Big D

I bet it is a one year deal for about 3 million or so. And with this signing, we can now ship Kwame and Bynum’s ass out if needed to make a big deal happen.

  • http://Lakers.com Ed24

    hahahahahaha JK24 good one.

  • Sep08

Either this deal was made to use in a trade for JO (KG dosen’t seem possible anymore),or it was made in defeat of making a big trade, basically they gave up and went for their Plan C (mihm). If Mihm is getting more than 3M a year it would be a joke.

  • KOBE

    championship baby!!!!LOL

  • lakerfan81

I doubt that Mihm signed a big contract, because after Fisher signs the Lakers will be in Luxury tax territory. So Buss would be paying double whatever Mihm signed for. I think that would be a hard sell for mitch to make.

  • lakerfan01
  • http://myspace.com/crunklilgangsta Kenny

this means that were doing a trade 100% positive its gunna heppen we cant have 3 centers and 4 pg

  • Q WUOR

yeas yeas yeassssss. and No i’m not white….Great move maan..we need mihm. GET J.O plz..even if it cost us injury-prone lamar AND I’m-not-sure-if-i’m-gonna-be-great-bynum

  • Ricky

i think it was a good idea to resign mihm. either the signing was made because there is a possible trade in the makings or it is just to secure the frontcourt for next season, but either way, it was a good idea. mihm played well before he became injured and i hope that after the surgeries and time off, he will be back in shape come next season. im satisfied with the current roster the lakers have, its a deep team, however it could use some more work, but i think the lakers can still be a 6th, possibly a 5th seed with the current roster.

    C- kwame, bynum, mihm
    PF- odom, turiaf, cook
    SF- walton, radmanovic
    SG- kobe, evans, vujacic
    PG- fisher, farmar, crittenton

we can still sign another player and i think the lakers should do so using however much money they have available to use depending on how much was used to sign mihm. perhaps another veteran PF or SF.

nice..but he didnt make the 0.4 shot in the 2001 finals…

    it was 2003-04 season.

  • fred0s

Awesome. Eventhough Mihm was a walking foul magnet, it was because he actually TRIED to defend the paint, unlike Brown and Bynum. Now with Mihm back in the line up (If Bynum doesn’t improve, Mihm is going to be our starter). Now we should trade Brown and Vujacic (I still think Farmar is going to be a future great) and a first round pic for Artest. I know it seems like we are short changing Sacramento in these scenerios, but the only players I would be trade for the troublesome Artest would be either (in any combination) Brown, Cook, Radmanovic, Vujacic or Evans plus a first round pic.

  • http://getgarnett.com Shawn D.

They needed a dedicated center good job by Mitch

  • Ricky

speaking of trades to acquire the troublesome ron artest, the only players on the current roster i would deal would be any combination of kwame, cook, radmanovic, vujacic and a first round pick. i wouldn’t trade evans because he played well for us last season (8.4 ppg, 3 rpg, 1 apg). evans showed a lot of heart offesensively and defensively and is a great backup for kobe, so i think evans should be a keeper.

mihm plays hard and puts everything he has out on the court. mihm plays with more passion and aggression than kwame and bynum do, so i think it was a good idea to resign mihm. i just hope that he will be 100% fully recovered and back in basketball shape by the start of the season because we really need him.

  • Kevin McHale

Congratulations! You guys got your big man! Hope you’re happy with him because he’s the only “big man’ you’ll be acquiring this year. You might as well face the fact that any trade for KG will be torpedoed by me, so you might as well just go fuck yourselves. You people have a good night!

    With Warm Regards,
    Mr. McHale

Mitch, so far so good. If you can land an allstar in the near future we will remove the Cupcake from your name we promise. Drafting JC, signing D-fish and Mihm…not bad. Keep it up and we might call you Mitch “Jerry West Who?” Kupchek.

  • tj

This guy has to prove now he can get through a season without being injured which has been a major problem for us….I’m on the fence with this signing….but I hope he has turned the corner on playing a whole season.
