Interesting news being reported involving Mike Miller. FoxSports.com is reporting Lakers have offered the full MLE:

Twitter: Source told FOXSports.com that Mike Miller has already met with the Lakers, Knicks and Heat out in L.A. Lakers offered 5 years, $30 million.

Though ESPN is reporting no offer has been made as of yet, discussions are on!

ESPN: The Lakers have opened discussions with free-agent swingman Mike Miller although no contract has been offered, a source close to the situation said Thursday.

meh, not sure if i like this.

    booking it..Welcome to LA

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

Man, I really didn’t think he was within our reach. I think this throws T-mac & Felton outa the picture.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

But damn the front office is killin it. Lamar, regardless if you like him or not, we got him for an alright dollar. Artest took a pay-cut and now Miller for $30/5 Years when he could go for $34-$37 Mill.

  • Touch ME

DO IT MITCH AND MIKE MILLER !!! I’m all Lakersnation agrees.

  • inverse

    T-MAC>MILLER

    IMHO

  • KMAC_321

    TMAC FTW! screw Miller

  • truRenegade

trade odom for collison and okafor ^^

    • nath

Hornerts is not stupid to accept that trade

    • ship.luke.out.now

keep odom and get rid of luke. please make it happen mitch!!!

  • http://miunex.com/ Vigilante

Why would the Lakers do this? This has gotta be false, no way they offer FULL MLE this soon in the free agency.

And I want T-Mac over this guy, or get both Mitch their both good!

    • http://www.myspace.com/626bones Lakers 24 7

It’s early in free agency, but they provably looked at and analyzed all the free agents before free agency opened up.

    • Big Chris

T-Mac is done. Thats why nobody wants him. Mike miller fits the system perfectly. Way better shooter.

  • 09-10-11champs!

we´ve been discussing this in the shoutbox for like 2 hours now..

realgm.com says that lakers did offer him 5yr/30 mil, and gave him a deadline of tonight to accept or decline

  • bc18

YES! He would fit WAY BETTER than Tracy McGrady! T-Mac is a volume shooter…Mike Miller is a shooter…theres a difference, and if we are running the triangle offense, we need SHOOTERS not VOLUME SHOOTERS…good IQ player also. Not a good individual defense player, but a good team defense player. Shows toughness—> remember when he elbowed Kobe? lol…T-Mac could NEVER play defense; imagine how he is now when he is dramatically slowed down by injuries…

Hopefully this trade goes through. TRUST ME TLN, you will love him if he joins our team.

  • tmac all day

i really prefer t-mac over this guy.. i think miller is also plagued with injuries.. plus t-mac can slash to the hoop while miller is more of a catch and shoot person

    • http://www.twitter.com/TLN24 Marwan Marzina

Don’t worry, a Laker source said that if TMAC doesn’t return to Knicks or retire, then expect him to be signed by the Lakers by the end of July.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

        Do you have that link?

      • tmac all day

hope that is true. plus t-mac is a prolific scorer, i will bet u that he can win a game for us just like robinson did for the celtics.

        • Shizzweak!

Who the F*** cares if robinson won ONE game. Are you stupid? you want player who can’t even play 50 games. Instead of having orgasms, T-mac gets back spasms. oh did Robinson win them the championship? NO YOU F***ing IDIOT! SO….. that means that game does not mean SH!T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON PEOPLE BE F**king SMARTER!!!!! damn………..

    • Shizzweak!

Miller is also plagued with injuries? What about T-Mac? He has more injuries! Remember when the rockets played the lakers when t-mac was hurt like 10000000 times….. took the lakers to game 7 without him. Also never got out of the second round…. you people are BLIND!!!!!!!! Just like how people want the 38 year old Kurt Thomas AHHAHAHAH you people are F***king funny. Ignorant FOOLS!

      • lol

why you hatin’ im just saying my opinion, this is why laker fans are getting bad reputation, they dont have respect.

    • Big Chris

Mike Miller better not turn out to be a Radmonovic

  • http://miunex.com/ Vigilante

I’m down with both dudes, I just would like T-Mac more. I would rather have T-Mac on my side then on Bosh/Wade/Lebrons super team.

    Come Mitch lets get both!

    • http://lexworld Lex

That’s right we need T.Mac before some other team thats close to becomming a contender signing him like the Magic or this planned dreamteam of Wade-James-Bosh.

  • http://www.twitter.com/TLN24 Marwan Marzina

This would be a good pickup. Miller is a great shooter, especially from 3. In fact, the lowest he shot from 3 in a season was 34%. The highest he’s shot the 3 in one season is 48% which was last season.

    • Wilt

Good point we need a shooter not an all washed up injury prone shooter like tmac. we have enough injuries with just bynum if we get tmac than you can double the injury count. To my knowledge i dont remember miller being injury prone.

      • jonb

really then u must not have watched him last season. The guy couldn’t catch a break with injury after injury.

        • Wilt

Ok i didnt know i have only seen him in videos i mean when you play for a 3rd rate team you tend to get overlooked you know.

  • Anthony

Little too much money I’d say. I would much rather a proven post season player. We’re trying to win rings, not 70 regular season games.

    • kobe-wan kenobi

      proven like tmac?
mike miller is a good player
dont forget that gasol before playing w kobe got swept 3 times…

but w us i guess it worked out pretty good right?

      so dont worry bout it

miller would be a great pick up for us, i am worried about the 5 years 6 mil a year
      is alot
but compared to sasha and luke it is a steal!

      • http://youtube.com/lakersftw2010 RonRonGq

to much money? So Walton 5 million is good fo his 2 point average can’t even shoot for his life while an extra mill is to much for a former 6th man of the year and is lights out form 3′ssssssssssssssssssssssss…. varejao is getting paid more

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

You say 70 games like thats horrible? There’s not a career 40% Tre shooter thats played in the post seson available besides Korver and we ain’t gettin Korver man.

  • Xtro

Do it! We need to boost the bench, guys. Plus, miller can handle the ball as well a la Toni kukoc

  • Be Strong

Great but also get T- Mac….ohh by the way Anthony Morrow anyone????

  • mr.laker

He is our best option, better fit then T-mac and Felton or anybody else we can sign. He can shoot good and fits our offense well. Good choice Mitch! Now lets try to get Fish and Shanon back

  • Patrick Bateman

now for the full MLE? I dont think I like it, but If yall take a look at MIke Miller’s stats, he is pretty damn good.
He could be our Paxson, our Kerr, but taller.

Fisher signing is must and most likely going to happen since PJAX is back.

But dont we have Sasha already? Unless PJ plays this bench

    Sasha
    Miller
    Odom
    PF (via FA)
    C (via FA)

more scoring, but we need someone like Shaq to pick up the slack down low.

  • ^ ^

C’mon sign it Mike! Let’s have Miller time in L.A.!!

  • G Ariza

Forget about Tmac. He let down the Rockets and gave up and he is more injury prone than Mike miller. I’d prefer Mike Miller over Tmac. Tmac is a wuss.

    • http://lexworld Lex

Listen u don’t need Tracy Mcgrady to be T.mac we have the Mamba u just need him on the court as an apossed threat

  • lakeb

YES. this guy is a beast. sign him.

  • Marwan Deletes My Comments

It never amazes me how f*cking stupid most Laker fans on this site are.
    .
Mitch, you are a freaking GENIOUS! If this goes through, to be able to land Mike Miller for the Mid-level is incredible.
    .
The Laker offense ALWAYS has open shots for whoever is playing the small forward spot. Remember Ariza’s 3-point bombs? WIDE OPEN. Artest had wide open 3′s all year, except he couldn’t consistently connect. Miller shot 50% from the field and 48% from the 3-point line last season. Can you see what this guy will do in this offense?
    .
All you TMAC>Miller people are complete morons. As a shooter, Miller is entering the prime of his career. He’s been in the league 9 years and is primed to spend his best years wearing a Laker jersey. Yes, hes 30, but freaking Ray Allen is what, 50? As for TMAC, you’re lucky if you get one good year out of him.
    .
Also, Mike Miller is 6’8″, listed as a Guard/Forward. He will log-in minutes behind Kobe and do the same for Artest. So by backing up the 2 and 3, he will log-in close to starter minutes for LA, which means that he will easily average 15 points per game and the Laker offense will have a great shooter out there most of the time.
    .
This move is nothing short of f*cking pure basketball genious on behalf of the LA Lakers! Proof again why your Los Angeles Lakers IS the BEST basketball franchise in the world. F*cking amazing.

i wish he could average 15 but um i dont think thats happenning unless he’s always playing when were blowing teams out which i doubt

    • NBAmazingKB24

15 points? hmm not sure about that
would be great to see but i don’t think that 15 point will happen from miller.

    • ALMIGHTY _LAKERS

      well said.

    • More Cookies 4 Kob

Finally somebody said it. “Marwan Deletes My Comments” you are officially the 4th person I can take seriously on this site.
      .
It should be noted that Phil will try to cut back Kobe’s minutes, as he’s been logging in more minutes and injuries in recent years. Mike will probably average 11-12 pts a game; production we’ve tried to get out of Sasha since 08.

      • 242LakerFan

This is a great point. Miller won’t be required to score that many points a night. His role will be to hit a couple of 3′s and stretch the floor so that Pau and Drew can operate in the middle and Odom and Kobe can slash to the the basket without having the entire other team collapsing on them like an Obama economic stimulus plan.
8-10 is plenty of production from him once he keeps the other defense honest.

    • Reality

Great reality check and spot on!

  • drewdeluxe

Reminds me of the Vlad Rad signing.. Everyone was high on him as our shooter with size.. Good pick up, but for the Full MLE? We need a point guard really bad.. Hopefully Mitch has something up his sleeve and trade Sasha/Walton for a good PG..

  • Lakers=beast

mike miller will be an excellent edition to the laker family, I wish we could have mike miller and t-mac but it might happen! and btw, even though I know derek will play with the lakers, I still want conformation of him playing

  • http://www.michaelserna23.com Michael_23

I’m not sure what to say about this. He’s a very good player (Mike Miller). I don’t think we “need” him. We need a PG. It’s possible we may not have a PG for awhile til August. And we just need descent PG, although D Fish sometimes can’t keep up with the top PG sometimes, we need a solid contributor on defense. With the triangle Sasha and Shannon can run the PG or SG position. But they are not starters. The triangle runs through mostly Kobe, Pau, and Lamar.

D Fish deserves the 4-5 mil. He’s proven to be a trusty PG to make the big plays down the stretch. I know we’ll lose Farmar, Morisson, Powell, and Mbenga. I think Shannon Brown comes back.

So we have about 7 players under contract. (Don’t forget Luke!) + 2 new draft pics. We need 3 more players to fill 12 players.

Here’s what I’d spend for MLE, minimum, and any leftover $$$ if any.

Shaq (to come off the bench)
T-Mac (great ball handler and scorer, can run point forward at times or the SG)
    D. Fish

    What do you guys think?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

The front office isn’t goin to pay much more than 200k-500k over the Vet min. Baring that this is legit and Miller does use the MLE, this narrows the T-Mac window. You gotta take into consideration what Miller brings to the table with the ability to play 1 spot, but obviously the 2 & 3 a whole lot more comfortably. T-Mac can attack the basket much better than him, but Millers 3Pt% outweighs in my opinion. I’m pretty set on Raymond Felton though at the 1 but that ain’t gonna happen now.

    • domz

The most I would offer to Shaq or Tmac is the Vet’s Min.

As for this possible M. Miller signing, i’m on board with it. Even that means we would not sign another PG. That means for PT for Sasha as PG and Miller will play as SG for our 2nd unit. Mike Miller can also play as PG in the Triangle O since our offense doesn’t need a true PG.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

I agree with you, & I’m on board with M. Miller, but once again, us Laker fans are reading the same poem. “What do you we do about the slashing guards?” Sasha ain’t stayin in front of Chris Paul, Tony Parker, Rajan Rondo…

  • YELLOWPURPLEFEVER

If this happens, we are heading in the right direction in FA. Did Mike cut his Euro-hair style? He’ll fit right in with Sash and Pau. Mike will Open up the middle and spread the floor…Guarantee! PJ approval totally. We need someone to take Luke Walton off our hands, since we got Mike.

  • ricky

I’m all for Miller, I think he would be great having another shooter, but giving him the full Mid Level is kinda wasteful. If we can get him for maybe half of the Mid Level it would be much better. Also, for those who think T-Mac won’t work, I disagree. He’s a former all-star and him coming off the bench gives us a big spark. Plus, he’s hungry for a title so it gives us added motivation throughout the season like Ron did for us last year.

Don’t count out Bell either, he’s still a good player and off the bench, his defense and shooting would be very helpful. The point guard situation is definitely an issue, it’s hard to gauge this early but I hope we can either get Blake, Ridnour, or whomever for cheap.

Also, we should sign our two draft picks, I like both. Ebanks for sure looks like a great lanky defensive forward very similar to Ariza and he looks anxious to develop even further. This next season looks promising since we’re the defending champs and we still have an amazing core with Kobe, Pau, Lamar, Drew, Fish (surely resigned), and Ron.

  • ricky

Let’s hope Javaris Crittenton has a good showing in the summer league and we sign him, he’s very young and has some good upside. He’s a big guard and has the ability to drive the lane so it’s a plus if we can get him behind Fish to replace Farmar.

    • http://www.myspace.com/guszo gus26

now we’re talking like GMs and being realistic…

  • kbfan24

How does this sound for lineups:

    Andrew bynum
    pau gasol
    Ron artest
    Kobe bryant
Derek fisher (hopefully if he resigns)

    for bench:

    Andrew/pau
    Lamar
    tmac
    mike miller

    That sounds pretty good!
    Sasha vujacic

    • jonb

wheres our POINT GUARD idiot. what of fisher gets hurt?

    Whats the Mid-night update?

  • the pauverisor

I really like this move IF, we can move Luke somehow. They play the same position, but Miller would be way more productive as far as putting points on the board. A couple of years ago, Kobe said this guy is the best pure shooter in the league. Check this out:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjKk092NupI

When Miller’s on the floor, there will be no way to double team Kobe. I’d really love to have T-Mac and a back up point guard like Ridnour or Blake, but Mitch would really have to do some magic to make all that happen.

    • http://youtube.com/lakersftw2010 RonRonGq

kobe and miller had some beef when miller elbowed kobe and kobe came back and elbowed him intentially

  • patrick bateman

I researched online and says we already offered him the MLE and just waiting for MM to accept the deal.

after watching that video, i believe the Lakers should make MM spot up on that side of the court. hehe

Ariza did well in the triangle and MM should do wonders as well.

  • harmony_smurf

Great Pickup! This will finally make the triangle deadly, no more double teaming Pau or Kobe or you get burned!

  • patrick bateman

    • NBAmazingKB24

      ouch lol

  • mendiarvin

Not a bad pickup, remember this guy was memphis 2nd option during 05-08 seasons. He also played with kobe for the US team. Kobe and Pau will make it easier for him to fit the team.

  • Sasha4Lvp

i have always like mike miller and was always hoping he would become a laker for a few years now. but i just dont like 5 years, 3 years would be perfect. if miller does sign, then mitch has to have a plan to get rid of sasha. why would we need 2 spot up shooters?

  • Drake Ramoray

If we can unload Walton and Vujacic to Toronto for Calderon, we should be good!

    • jonb

finally a smart comment. well not really but i love your wishful thinking. The raps r looking to trade but he’s unfortunately too expensive w/o sending luke and sasha.

      • Drake Ramoray

Wishful thinking or a possibility? No contract is untradeable. If the Warriors found a taker for Corey Maggette and his contract was worse than Waltons, then Mitch just needs some work to do. You can’t get rid of a bad contract without taking one back. This in essence wouldn’t be a bad contract for Lakers because Calderon fits the PG need for us and Walton and Vujacic = 10 million which would save LA one million this year and save Toronto almost 13 million through 2013.

    • ship.luke.out.now

we think a like bro, Luke the puke must go. He is slow, not athletic, can’t shoot. What does he do besides nothing. The most overpaid guy in the nba must go!!!

  • Josh in D 310

Looks like a good add for The Lakers. No Double team on Pau, Drew, or Kobe? I’ll Start saving up for my Finals tickets now and camp out for a great Parade spot near Staples. Hope they Have a Rally next year. Let’s Go Lakers!!!

  • awesomerob24

i don’t like this deal at all!

  • Mamba4Life

It’s REALLY REALLY good real… Luke Walton is pretty much dead.. We had to play with Kobe in SF, Farmar/Fish – Brown sometimes.. now there is legitimate sub for Artest & he can actually give something positive compared to other cough*s(cr)ubs*cough.. but my fanboyism favors T-Mac.. and I can actually support my opinion with facts.. think about T-Mac healthy.. I mean I know it’s hard.. but just think. He’ll come from bench, play what 25-30 minutes? I’d take him over Miller ANY GIVEN DAY.. simple as that.. Talking about him as All-Star is downgrading.. He was @cking Superstar.. The guy at Kobe’s calibre.. It’s his bad luck that he couldn’t get rid of injuries.. and his team pretty much sucked all the time.. now he has VERY GOOD chance to get a ring? with playing along Kobe, Gasol, Artest, Bynum.. he won’t bear any burden to carry the team.. he won’t have any worries.. he can bring his game with healthy mind/body from the bench freely.. he can sub Artest/Kobe and he can play as PG, yes he can.. Lakers we know doesn’t need a true PG in the first place.. we’ve seen Shannon Brown playing as PG, why not play with T-Mac as he’s a good passer, right?

but getting both is also possible.. I know I’m being greedy at this point but listen. Lakers can offer him a veteran contract, now you may say why the hell would he accept such thing when he can get 10M per year with ease? My answer would be playing with the strongest team in the NBA with a legendary coach, and one step to getting that ring.. no more 1st round exits.. and Lakers can offer him MLE next season.. as he turns to 32.. he will have 4-5 years of time to play with Kobe/Gasol/Bynum.. I mean it’s not asking too much.. We’ve seen players like Rudy Gay getting 16 per year.. but what’s it in the end? of course he’ll get rich but in the end it won’t matter.. nobody will remember him except the fat contract.. T-Mac earned the money all he wanted.. He got money from clubs, from endorsements in his 12 years of career.. what did it worth? maybe easy retirement life.. but if he wants to be a Hall of Famer, which pretty much every player/coach dreams of.. he should get a ring first, and that’s what Lakers can offer ahead of any team out there…

Do it Mitch. Do it T-Mac.

  • LakerSinceBirth

Houston is shopping Ariza. Mitch should explore trade options to get him back.

    • http://www.twitter.com/TLN24 Marwan Marzina

They are shopping him for Bosh, not for anyone else. Although, the Lakers should go after him. I wouldn’t mind seeing Trev back in P&G as long as we don’t give up the starting 5 and Odom.

      • LD24

I also have a feeling that Ariza wouldn’t also mind being back in LA…

        • Why

well i say we bring trevor bac home….some combination of luke and a draft pick or sasha expiring contract and a pick
might get that done …as far as mike miller and tmac i think mike miller might be the safer option as far as fitting in staying healthier…but we could get Tmac for half of what we will give miller and ther is a chance he could return to wat he once was…at the end of the day i think we should go after Tmac becuz this will leave us more money to go after a quality PG which i think is the number one issue for us right now

  • hypocrite

its funny how everyone wants to get rid of bynum for being injury prone but they want to bring in Tmac who is the most injury prone player in the NBA not named grant hill or yao ming

    • ^ ^

Duh… are you stupid?! They are all older in age but to tall but short bynumnuts is just 22 yrs old and younger. Plus T-Mac is more athletic then “traveling” bynumnuts. Get rid of him!!! Bluh!!!

  • Kia Rondo

Lakers should give Antoine Walker the full MLE!!!

    • ebak force

      lol. tonteria.

  • jaydubb415

Damm some of you ”quote on qoute”laker fans still don’t get,no dis-respect,but do you really know what the TO-offense is about.Mike miller is a ”true shooter’n way better shooter than ”mcrady is”n he’s a ”under pressure”shooter 2 we have a player that can get his ”own shot”do i really have 2 say his name?) so i think ”mike miller”would be a nice addittion espicially if he can stay away from ”injuries”knock on wood.

    • 242LakerFan

OMG!!! I try to restrain myself (I try reeeeally hard) from correcting everyone’s little grammatical gaffs, but this is just hilarious!
      “quote on quote”? Really? Seriously?
First of all, it’s “quote/unquote” and secondly, it’s something you say, because you can’t actually attach quotation marks when speaking. In text, you actually can put quotation marks around a phrase, so there’s no need to type “quote/unquote”, much less to actually put it in quotation marks, then not even put the phrase you’re emphasising in quotation marks! And it’s not as if you’re shy with quotation marks, either, since most of what you have placed in quotes shouldn’t be.
I won’t even bother to mention that the rest of your post is completely unreadable.
This is wrong on so many different levels I can’t stop LMAO while typing this!!!!
      Thanks for making my day!!!
      LMAO!!!

      • WTF!

Dude, wtf!? You again…talking about grammar? This is a basketball forum!!! TALK ABOUT BASKETBALL!!! At this point it’s getting ridiculous how you harass other board members about freaking grammar problems in their writing! SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Oh, was that about basketball? I couldn’t tell. At least I can understand what you mean.

          • WTF!

Man, just trying to keep the board positive dude! I’m just saying it’s plain mean-spirited to attack people who are trying express their opinions on something. We’re all Laker fans, there is no need for it. Nobody is laughing when you do it. Just relax and lay off people. We get it…you’re REALLY good at grammar! ;)

    • Robert

Actually, I’m laughing too! This is just a ‘blog’, and I consider it mostly entertainment. 242 you’re a riot! Some of these posts are actually painful to pore through, and ‘generally’ I get the message.
      .
But many of them (like this) are entertaining and quite ‘funny’, actually.
      .
Free comedy. It doesn’t get better than this!!!

  • More Cookies 4 Kob

MIKE MILLERRRRR!! This is one of the smartest choices this front office could have made. TMac is as fragile as a porcelain doll, Miller eats up garbage opportunities with tough play and hustle.

  • lakers0828

NBA .com has It Posted that Lakers are denying any Contract talks with Mike Miller and that they had not offered any deal what so ever to Mike Miller

  • http://lexworld Lex

The Miller move is very GOOD now let’s make it GREAT
    by adding T.Mac

  • T-dub

OK…I got. Miami sign and trade Jermain Oneal and Micheal Beasly for Odom…since they are trying to move Beasly anyway and already let JO walk. Then we use the MLE on either Miller/T-Mac/Korver. Looks something like

    Fish/Critt

    Kobe/Sasha

    Artest/Miller-TMac-Korver

    Gasol/Beasley

    Bynum/J Oneal

    That’s a squad!

    • Jake Gasol

Sounds awesome, and also increases payroll dramatically.

  • http://lexworld Lex

Citt thats dumb. Every Thing else you said lookd good

  • Robert

Think about this, TLN – the 3 players within the last year for which the Lakers have shown interest, are all ‘former nemeses’ of Kobe. Ron-Ron, Miller, and Bell. All had physical scuffles w/Kobe.
    .
So, I have a feeling that 1) Kobe has both ‘respect’ for these players, and has the attitude “let’s sign the ‘enemy’, then we’ll be formidable”. 2) Phil made a decision this soon (not in a week) for, among other things, to have a say in who he wants to be on the team to repeat a Championship. If Scott had signed on as coach w/Lakers, they would be pursuing PGs. Phil, on the other hand, likes ‘bigs’ more.
    .
These 2 things make it easy to understand why they would offer MM a deal. And one more thing: D wins Championships. Although MM ‘could be’ an improvement in offense, opening up the lane and possibly getting open shots, he has been an ‘intimidating’ presence in the NBA. He has not only gotten in scuffles w/Kobe, I have seen him mess with other players. Add Ron-Ron into the mix, and we have ‘scary’ defensive unit. If Raja Bell comes instead (or, in addition!), then it’s OVER. Lakers will become a ‘Defensive’ juggernaut, and say goodbye to all other teams, even for a few years!
    .
Also, after Phil retires (next year? year after?) these guys can shift from Triangle based to more pic n roll (I think Phil uses that sparingly in offense, if at all). And these guys (MM, Bell) are perfect for that! That would even allow Kobe to work on the all-time scoring title over the next few years, in addition to other Team Titles.
    .
    This is a good move.
    .
T-Mac could be good short term, but not long term. You think his back is going to get better over the years?
    .
If they can have both MM & T-Mac (or Bell), great.
    .
And then, I predict J-Crit will be back! He fit in well with the Triangle, and look out for a ‘new and improved’ bench mob.

    • http://lexworld Lex

2much to read man but ur over thinking the T.mac situation were talking 3peat you sound like ur thinking
      6yr deal

      • Robert

Actually, 3-peat is only part of it. I AM looking down the line. We have maybe 5+ years left of Kobe.
        .
T-Mac is an “All-Star” and formerly potential top 100 player (until all those injuries). He’s ‘closer’ to Kobe’s class than most players (Arenas ‘was’ close too, T-Mac ‘was’ close, same with Vince Carter – sort of 2nd or 3rd level behind the ‘Kobe’ class – not quite really up there in Kobe’s stratosphere – maybe made 1st team once or twice, right?).
        .
So, T-Mac has a ‘big drop’ to operate as a role player. Ron-Ron (although one of the best Defenders ‘ever’, maybe even top 5), was not an ‘alpha-dog’ scorer like T-Mac, Kobe, Arenas. So it was less of a drop to become a role player. T-Mac would have to swallow his ego in the presence of Kobe. Only Phil could manage coaching that. After Phil leaves, T-Mac would be a liability.
        .
Better off with ‘certified’ role players like MM, Raja Bell, etc. Heck, Pau has to compete with our prized ‘Alpha Dog’, Kobe for touches. We don’t need any more egos on the team.

  • Drake Ramoray

A 3 team trade that needs to happen. Lakers, Minnesota, and Washington or Toronto. Lakers send Vujacic to either Washington or Toronto as an expiring contract, Luke Walton goes to Minny to help Kurt Rambis run the triangle, Minny sends Martell Webster to Washington or Toronto, and either Washington sends Hinrich our way or Toronto sends Calderon our way. Toronto wants to trade Calderon either way. He and Walton are owed through 2013 only Walton is owed alot less and Vujacic comes off the books after this year or even can be bought out!

    • 242LakerFan

wow, you really took a lot of time to think that one through. That would solve a lot of problems all around, wouldn’t it? I like it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1460601006&ref=profile OaklandLakers

Legitimate proposal man. Don’t know if I agree with it all, but legit.

    • Robert

Interesting, to say the least! Someone here is truly evaluating talent, $, and other considerations. I see ‘GM’ in your future!

  • Joselio Nimasaja Anicar Tado says:

    PG Fisher/Shannon/Sasha
    SG Kobe/Bell/T. Allen
    SF Artest/Miller/Ebanks
    PF Gasol/Odom/Powell
    C Bynum/Gasol/Mbenga

    • Robert

‘almost’! I still contend that we sign Crit after he passes through D-league. Maybe drop Powell and start off Crit at another position, then transition to PG (or play the ‘tandem’ PG role that Farmar would play w/Shannon).
      .
      What do you think?

      • Joselio Nimasaja Anicar Tado says:

        good idea

        PG Fish/shannon/crit
        SG Kobe/bell/crit
        SF Artest/miller/ebanks
        PF Gasol/Lamar
        C Bynum/gasol

  • Austin

I think Lakers will sign Mike Miller on Tuesday (the day he says yes) and then go out and resign Derek Fisher and go get Steve Blake. Then, they will trade Bynum (injury prone) and Sasha (as an expiring contract) for Bosh or even add in Odom for Hedo Turk???? IDK, but I believe that Mitch will do anything possible to get some great role players for Phil Jackson and for him to relax in his final year!!!

    • http://www.myspace.com/guszo gus26

how are they going to sign blake after miller???… to the vet min???… rethink that one buddy…

  • DCLakeshow

Honestly…I don’t know much about Miller, other then the fact that the only time that I’ve seen him miss, was in my dreams.

Seriously though… I like the fact that MM doesn’t just settle for the jump shot and can take it to the hole. IF this deal goes through, that’ll be pivotal in our offense. It’s really what we had hoped to get from Vladamir R a couple of years ago, but he kind of flew the coo-coo’s nest!

  • Austin

Derek Fisher, Steve Blake, Javaris Crittenton
    Kobe Bryant, Mike Miller
    Ron Artest, Devin Ebanks
Chris Bosh, Hedo Turkoglu, Derrick Caracter
    Pau Gasol, DJ Mbenga

That is my plan for the 2010-2011 Lakers!!
What do you guys think? Chris Bosh and Pau Gasol will switch once and a while during the game at the Center position. Caracter can easily step into the game and be the center for a few minutes. (AKA Glen Davis) So I don’t think it would be bad!! Whats your thoughts???

    • Robert

Nice, but we’re still missing a ‘true’ center. Caracter might step in there (?), but still falls short of Bynum’s ‘bulk’ (really, all that Drew has to do is stand there, and swat flies – get rebounds – make a few baskets – keep bulky guys from pushing to the basket).

  • TripleOcho24

I hope they don’t give him the full MLE cause miller reminds alot of the Space Cadet except with tattoos

    • 242LakerFan

This is not the first time I’ve seen the comparison made between Miller and Vlad the Impostor. This is not valid at all. Miller is a better shooter. He’s a smarter player. He hustles way more (which is to say “at all”) and he isn’t afraid to drive the ball once in a while (something Vlad only did when the moon was full).
And I hope you’re not dissing people with tattoos. I would become very sulky indeed if that were the case.

    • Robert

Miller is also an ‘intimidator’, like Sasha, Bell, Ron-Ron, Battier, etc. Players around the league don’t like him, because he heckles them. So they like to elbow him in the face (right, Kobe-ster? :). PERFECT FIT for the Lakers! (Sasha’s mug is elbow bait too). One more piece that will intimidate other offenses, especially the Cel-dicks (who might not make it to Finals again!).

  • 242LakerFan

Well, reports say Blake is a Laker with a 4 year deal. I hope this doesn’t put Miller out of the equation.

  • Spectorman

T-Mac doesn’t fit on this team! Why sign someone just for the name!? C’mon people. Miller is the better fit between the two.

“T-Mac can slash.” “T-Mac can shoot.” “T-Mac is a prolific scorer…” BLAH BLAH BLAH. Those days are DONE! Dude never even got out of the first round in his career. Why should the lakers do HIM a favor and sign his ass so he knows what it feels like to advance in the playoffs?

Too much ego in that dude. You can see it in his lazy eye. LOL!

  • ^ ^

Sign Miller for two years a deal of 14 millions. Good idea? C’mon we need a sharp shooter!

  • mike FTW

saw some youtube highlights of mike miller. we should definitely get this dude..he gotta cut his hair though haha
