Lakers’ new ticket policy

Inside the Lakers: If you want to see the NBA’s top teams at Staples Center, be prepared to pay top dollar. The Lakers, following the lead of a number of other teams in other sports, announced that they have instituted a new variable ticket pricing policy for the upcoming season.

Tickets in various sections will have three different prices for 2008-09.

No. 1, a regular individual game price.
No. 2, a discounted season ticket price.
No. 3, a premium price for seven so-called premium games.

The seven games are: Dec. 25 against Boston, Jan. 19 against Cleveland, Jan. 25 against San Antonio, Feb. 20 against New Orleans, Feb. 26 against Phoenix, March 15 against Dallas and April 3 against Houston.

Individual game tickets will go on sale Oct. 4 at Ticketmaster locations, at ticketmaster.com and by calling (800) 4NBATIX. There are roughly 1,000 seats available for each home game this season, the team said in a press release.

  • Michael_23

    2 Laker section 113 tickets! 400 bucks! I would skip on a PS3 for a Laker game!

    Uhhh … hmmm … LoL

Not that we didn’t already know this anyway, but it’s interesting to see a number put on that stat. On average only 1,000 of the 19,000 possible seats are available to purchase BEFORE the season starts for us regular folk tying like mad to buy from Ticketmaster. I’m not great with math, but that’s barely over 5% of the capacity up for grabs, and of course that’s an average so good games like the seven stated above will have less, maybe 500 tickets. Well, at least I have HDTV, it’s “almost” like I’m there. Not.

  • LakersNo1

So all the rich non-true fans bought all the tickets before us. That’s messed up.

  • RAZOR RAMON

YES, i can go to the discounted games!!!

    i <3 memphis

  • Laker power

Thats why the Staples Center is not that loud compared to most of the other NBA Cities!! Its BULLSH!T cause you got all the rich folks that aren’t gonna get rowdy and loud like true Laker fans would!!

I mean I was at Game 1 of WCF and Game 5 in the Finals and it was loud!! But I can’t imagine how much louder it would be with true fans and not rich people that look out for the image their.

I think it’s part myth about STAPLES not being loud:

    1. Just because people are “rich” doesn’t mean they’re not Lakers fans.
    2. The noise gets sucked up into the ceiling; even Phil mentioned it in one of his books
    3. I think the fans are very loud; especially in the 4th. Players like Melo and Iverson hate playing at STAPLES because of it and if I remember correctly, talked about this most recently in the first round of the playoffs.

Damn, Thats crazy. I didn’t know this and I am a season ticket holder…

My tickets were $38.00 last year, this year I had to pay $40.00 each….

I just checked the website and they are Charging reg price of $45.00 and those premium tickets are $55.00 for my seats….

Thats just crazy…. You would think they make enough money as it is that they wouldn’t have to up the prices like that…

So I take it the food and drink prices will go up as well…

  • zain

this is why are crowd is always the quietest…only the rich people who aren’t true fans can afford the tickets.

  • Phil Jackson

no wonder our home games aren’t loud look at the rich people, you know most basketball fans arent rich you know. They just lose more money this way!!!

  • sleddog

you can bet that the ticket brokers will still some how magically have plenty of tickets at triple the face value.how do they get whole rows when you can only buy 4 or 6 tickets per game?nothing odd there!

  • gugy

The problem is regular folks have not much chance.

I want to take my son to watch a game and is so hard and expensive. Seriously I won’t pay $400 to watch a regular season game. Too much. Maybe $300 at the most, but even though I bet it is not a good seat.

I guess I will just buy a killer flat panel HDTV end enjoy the games. Too bad.

My consolation I met Kobe in Beijing, he sat right next to me to watch the Brazil vs. Argentina soccer game. The whole stadium was more interested in him than the game. Absolutely crazy. He seems to be a nice guy in person, He exchange few words and he was in a great mood.

  • JC

I LOVE The Lakers but those Tickets are so Freakin expensive. Even in the very top row where the players look like ants. You gotta drop a small fortune just to get a good seat. – Vote for OBAMA and maybe he’ll create a new Lakers Policy so the Middle Class fans can attend a game… :) – GO LAKERS and GO OBAMA!!

  • JACKIE MOON

I THINK THIS IS BULLSHIT IN RAISING THE TICKET PRICES AND THE FOOD AS WELL. IN BAD ENOUGH PARKING IS EXPENSIVE AND JUST TO BUY A MARGARITA THAT COST 20 BUCKS IS A JOKE. I BELIEVE THE MIDDLE CLASS PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE DIBS FIRST INSTEAD OF THE RICH QUITE PEOPLE. LAKER REVOLT AND LET’S KICK THE RICH PEOPLES ASS NOW. I HATE GOING TO A LAKER GAME AND THEY CONTINUE SHOWING THE RICH PEOPLE’S FACES IN THE BUBBLE VISION AND I THINK THAT’S A WHOLE CROCK OF BULL. EVERYONE KNOWS THE LOUDEST FANS ARE THE ONES THAT SIT AT THE 314 SECTION OR THE PIGEON SEATS. OBAMA 08 NOW LET’S GET RAINFOREST SWEATY!

  • CHEWBACCA

GO LAKERS ROAD TO THE FINALS AND BRING ON THOSE CRYBABY CELTICS. AAAAAAAAAAARGH!

  • JC

LOL – Jackie Moon for President of the Rainforests!

These ticket prices are going to suck my bank account dry.

  • RAZOR RAMON

    everyone is trippin’….

    IM LOUD and IM RICH!!!

  • Shock

Im far from rich, but I am LOUD the whole game!!!

Thats why I like where my seats are up top…I’m in section 302 and can see the game perfectly. I dont even look at the damn jumbotron.

I picked up a couple of games last year in the Premium section and I was getting mad because nobody, and I mean NOBODY was cheering on the team.. Half the people weren’t even in Laker Gear.. WTF is up with that?

In case some of you don’t know. You can sign up on the Lakers website for the fan club. It’s free and they will send you a Presale Password for tickets so you can buy them the day before they go on sale to the general public. Hope this helps… GO LAKERS!!!!
