wallESPN: Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant were dominant forces on the same court where they were All-Star Game co-MVPs three weeks ago.

Give this one to Shaq and the Suns.

O’Neal scored 33 points and Phoenix overcame Bryant’s 49-point performance to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 118-111 on Sunday.

Matt Barnes added 26 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as the Suns, without Steve Nash for the third straight game because of a sprained right ankle, defeated the Lakers for the first time in four tries this season.

Pau Gasol added 30 for Los Angeles, loser of two in a row for just the third time this season.

“We’re going through a period right now where everybody’s just kind of tired a little bit,” Bryant said. “It happens. … Everybody kind of goes through it a little bit. And this two games, we’ve been playing lethargic. It’s that point in the season where we kind of hit it. The key for us is to snap out of it.”

We’re Ok…better sooner than later…..Just a little, tired you could see it in there face’s.

  • xtro

we need to get drew gooden or joe smith

  • LakersFirst

Anybody who says Shaq still doesn’t have it is sorely mistaken. Shaq was quite impressive today. I thought there were a lot of bad calls, but if the Lakers are going to give up 20+ points to players like Matt Barnes, they aren’t going to win too many games.

  • jason

I dont know if i buy the whole tired thing but I do know they looked very lethargic yet again. I thought it was more of the “we just wooped him a few days ago so this will be easy” type lethargic though. And Lamar Odom where are u. You got Grant Hill guarding you and u only take 3 shots? I’m sure i’m overreacting but nows not the time to slip into a funk, nows the time to get things going to gather steam towards the playoffs. The last two games were unnacceptable effort.

  • Drake Hunter

Drew Gooden has just been bought out by Sacramento. Lakers need to pick this guy up to backup Bynum or Gasol for the playoffs! They have less than an hour and a half to make this happen so that he’s available for the playoffs!

  • udechukwu

title says it all though, lakers look DEFENSELESS… wheres the D guys?

    Hey Joseph,

I think we do have problems!! Was it just me or did anybody else see Jordan Farmar and Phil Jackson going at it? I saw the game on a 52 inch (HD) and it clearly showed Farmar talking mad 5hit!! I think we need address some things before we end up on a HUGE losing streak!!

  • lainok

they have had a hard schedual lately, I think they are just exauhsted. they’ll be back when minnesota comes to town.

What? They give out banners for 3rd place teams too? Sounds like the education system nowadays where there are no grades given, where everybody can feel good about themselves. Guess that’s perfect for you celdicks!

  • ilikebasketball

if there is a thing that will keep kobe from being known as an equal to jordan or even better, it’s that he doesn’t know when to stop shooting. he gets us back into the game with an amazing run. then throws up a couple heat check shots, which is fine, but when they don’t go down, he continues to throw up these horrible shots. These horrible heat check shots then end up in fast breaks for the suns. Instead, kobe after the first heat check, should’ve let the double team come or drive to get to the line.

and yet again, the lakers play against the refs. that foul against lamar that put him out was an embarrassment for the league and the refs as a whole. and also shaq being allowed to throw his weight into gasol, shoulder first, is a disgrace, too. All three announcers commmented on that.

these factors in the late 3rd and 4th helped lose a game that we could’ve won despite our crappy play.

  • Smush Walton

Fisher, Farmar and Sasha really sucked today.

Also having Luke on the floor is a huge liability. The defenders can basically ignore him and guard the other four guys and dare Luke to shoot, which he unfortunately does miserably.

  • lakerschamps09

man yea kobe was great as he brought us back but then he jus went crazy wit all those shots wayy too much…. out D aint help either but when refs let u shoulder gasol out the way how u supposed to play D??? LO had 6 fouls swear to god only 3 of them were actual fouls… that was BS… and u cant give up 26 pts to matt fu kin barnes… wtf is up wit that…
and in the fourth quarter when LO fouled out our lineup should have been-fisher,sasha,kobe,ariza and gasol…
that way we have shooters everywhere.. wit luke in there he aint helpin jack jus messes things up… so yea refs sucked,we aint play D but u cant play D when u get thrown out the way and kobe forgot how to pass the fu kin ball.. he needs to control himself….
ehhhhh gotta get another win streak goin

Sounds the Suckdics got punked by the Pistons at home no less – HAHAHA. Those stupid Suckdics. The curse of Marbury has begun. Next result of the curse, the Fleet Center and those sh*tty green banners go burning down (you know most of those banners were won back in the 60′s when there was like 8 teams in the league)

    Burn Suckdics, Burn!!

  • stdecker

our bench has been pretty horible. Waltons useless, sashas the worst player in the nba, fishers getting old, and ariza is back to shooting like ariza. besides all this, the refs are the only reason we lost this game. When they start giving rookies or whatever year mundoson is, calls over a veteran like lamar you know somethings up. (even laker hater vangudy had to admit the calls were shitty.

  • lainok

I’ve got a new nickname for sasha: “Vuja-brick”

  • ade

Kobe is taking too many shots now. I love Kobe, but he should at least stay with the context of team game. Sometimes your teamates are wide open and you don’t pass them the ball. We lost based on those shots that are not falling down. Same situation with Denver nugget game. They need to call him to order. We don’t want the old Kobe but the new unselfish Kobe

yeah, now everyone is going to start turning on our players????
    come on!!

our players are still the same players, all of them, that we were so happy with two days ago, even with the denver loss.

and now all of a sudden we have walton bashing again???? luke did really well in the last game, even defensively. farmar is the real no show. ariza and vujacic are putting themselves out there and still have high energy. we played like crap, but we could’ve won. the bad calls and and kobe going all trigger happy after he got us back in the game are the reason we lost. not because of vujacic or ariza.

remmeber late in the game, beginning of the fourth it was ariza with two threes and sasha with one that put us at a tie. and then kobe went back in and thought he could play the hero again. and lamar thought he was going to be allowed to play basketball.

don’t turn on the team so quickly.

we still hvae the best record in the league, by percentage.

and i’m surprised that you guys are saying van gundy is a laker hater. i always got the impression he was into us.
he always calls the refs out when we continually get the crap calls.

  • ShortDiezel

Why didn’t Phil Jackson keep Benga in the game and move Pau to the Power Forward Position?

Benga is stronger and more athletic.. on the flipside, no one on the suns can guard Pau at the PF position.. two big men in on the block would have clogged the lanes as well leading to less efficient shots and more offensive rebounds

  • jellybean

joseph is just sick of sucking marbury’s dick he came here to suck off some of the laker players….but he forgot that the celdicks are the only homo’s in the league!!!

I think its time for a contingency of Laker fans to attack the lame Red’s Army web site with our posts, similarly to the Suckdic fan Joseph. Who’s with me??

Just like they do in Europe, this Laker firm will beat the f*ck out of those Boston f*ggots.

Like I said, we should all invade the red’s army site and stake our claim there. Red Auerbach only won his titles when the NBA had 8 or 10 teams in the league, not the 30 there are now.

Too bad, but maybe we can let sun yue grow in the nba with another team and after 2-3years we can get him back again to replace Vujabrick.
