UPDATE: It looks like Oberto agrees to sign with the Wizards; picking them over the Lakers.

Washington Post: Oberto chose the Wizards over Phoenix, Oklahoma City, Sacramento and the Lakers. He was hopeful for a return to San Antonio, where he spent his first four seasons, but the Spurs signed veteran center Theo Ratliff on Thursday.

I’m surprised this pinche hoto didn’t sign with the Lakers and find a pad in West Hollywood.

I didn’t even know the Lakers were after Oberto. We don’t need to add more to the payroll, as we still have Lamar to re-sign. However, on a basketball sense, I would have like him on our team. He’s a veteran who has won with San Antonio and he gives a solid effort in the post. But Mbenga is still younger and much more bigger and stronger, so sticking with DJ is still best as a last resort backup at center.

i doubt this rumor is true. this might be a tactic of other teams, so lamar would knew that lakers are also after other players who can play the same position as lamar’s. other teams are getting hopeless to break our team up.

    F-U-C-K you Oberto!

[Comment ID #80923 Will Be Quoted Here]

The Lakers would have to sign and trade LO for Al Harrington PLUS New York would have to be willing to want to take LO for what LO’s asking for.

  • ceballos_neverforget

If the Lakers even did contact Oberto, it was nothing more than a smoke-screen to pressure Lamar.

The Post is only including this long list of “suitors” to embellish the victory for their hometown Wizards.
