Lakers’ Bynum optimistic, Gasol not

Here is an update on our injured bigs.

Picture 1Press Enterprise: Andrew Bynum said after Sunday’s game that he hopes to return to practice Tuesday and play against Phoenix two days later, but the prognosis for Pau Gasol appears to be far less optimistic.

Gasol said he’s still experiencing pain in his strained right hamstring each time he tries to practice, acknowledging, “It’s just not there yet and it will take a little more time.”

“Every time I put a timetable in my mind, I get disappointed, so I can’t afford that anymore,” Gasol said. “It’s a matter of time before it gets better. When, who knows? They cant tell me, I can’t tell them.”

Gasol has missed the Lakers’ first seven regular season games after suffering the injury during training camp on Oct. 10. Twice he has returned to practice, but both times the increased workload has led to pain and soreness.

“It’s been hard so far,” Gasol said. “I have no other option than to stay positive and be patient. It’s a matter of time before it gets better. That’s what they keep telling me and I have to get in my mind.”

Gasol you Idot why did You go an Play for your Internation Team ???
You Should Of listend to Kobe and Take the summer Off and rest Up now You probably won be back until Late Nov Dec.
Although Im pretty sure thats what all the analyst and sports writer will be Saying that but now I feel we wont see Gasol until the 2nd half of the season I believe

    • http://LakersNation Marwan

He injured it in training camp, not the Euro games. He hurt his finger in the Euro games but thats all better.

By the way, relax on him, he is the 2nd main reason we got the ring, Kobe being the 1st, obviously.

I know that You Moron but if He Had Rested instead of Playing for his National Team we Wouldnt Be talking about Gasol so MUCH WOULD WE

        • Kelly

actually, I don’t think you know. his playing for the national team didn’t have much effect on his injury now.

  • drive-for-16th

come on pau we need u man soo bad, its good bynum will be back but comeon pau get better by thursday and play man. this is taking longer than it should have. go lakers

    • kobe-wan kenobi

      actually we dont now
6-1 is good enough for now
      rest and get better
      and let kobe being kobe

  • Trem

Come on this keeps lingering on just gotta keep hoping for the best go Lakers

  • Mitch4Pres

gasol needs to man the fluck up and play

  • gugy

    Be patient guys.
Gasol is very important for the team and we need him back 100% healed.

  • http://LakersNation Marwan

We need them back 100% not ASAP. You saw what happened to those who came back ASAP claiming they are 100%. KG did it, and he made it worse and missed the playoffs. TMAC did that and he made his knee worse and missed the season and the playoffs.

So Pau, Andrew, take your time, come back when you are ready. As long as they are ready for the playoffs and we win that ring, Im ok with it.

if these soft lazy f`s only got paid if they played, they`ed be out there…..

    • WifelovesLuke

Interesting perspective but I think the other thing to consider is that the LakeShow is still able to win (6-1) while the big guys can heal up. If we were 2-5 it would be a different story.

  • drive-for-16th

we need these guys on thursday cause we gonna have to score a lot against phoenix, they are 7-1 like wtf that wasnt expected at all, we have to be the #1 in the west. These guys better get good by thursday man we need them. we have to beat phoenix.

  • drive-for-16th

wats the deal with t-mac comin back in a week yall

  • Popcorn

We need Gasol but we need him 100% healthy like it has been said before. Bynum is coming back soon; and this is a good opportunity for the bench guys to get PT.
If they all step their game up and play good we should be ok.

Take care all this games at home and just do your best on the road; once Gasol gets back we’ll get better.

  • LAKERS)(-10CHAMPS

yea u dnt wanna rush the injury..but u kinda wonder what culd be taking a STRAIN so long to heal? i mean its not the most serious yet its taking months.. we go to denver after phoenix everybody..they are third in the west..we gotta come correct this week or we could easily slide down to third or fourth.

  • gugy

    What’s the deal with Bynum?
I hope at least him is back against the Suns.

  • Kelly

let him rest and heal. it’s better that he’s resting rather than having him play with an injury, because Pau playing when he’s not at 100% could only do more harm than good. in the meantime, the bench players are establishing themselves as essential, strong parts of the team. I agree with what Marwan said up there, let them do what they need to do as long as we make it to playoffs and get that next ring.
