Lakers-At-Mavs: The L.A. Secret?

The guys over at DallasBasketball.com have given their “take” on the Lakers’ D for the first 5 games…

DallasBasketball.com: The blogosphere has created any number of fancy-schmancy explanations for the Lakers’ 5-0 start. “Strong-side zone defense’’. Gasol’s increasing unwillingness to get elbowed in his ugly mug more than twice. Stay-the-course stability. And all of it adds up to “Just so you know, we now think this whole NBA season is rather pointless on account of the Lakers’’.

But I’ll tell you what I’ve seen in my glimpses of LA’s games this year, and it casts an ominous cloud over the head of “I’ve-Got-To-Get-The-Troops-Ready’’ Dirk as he and the Mavs prepare for the 7:30 Tuesday visit from The Drama Queen and his Lakers:

LA refuses to let the other team’s best scorer score.

I noticed, as we probably all did, that LA completely stifled Tracy McGrady on Sunday, allowing him just three points (!) on 1-of-11 shooting. Now, T-Mac is complaining of suffering from some sort of ailment (yeah;he’s a puss). … but. … three points?

Like the announcer said the other night during The Rockets game…”if you haven’t seen The Lakers this season…THEY ARE LOADED WITH TALENT”….it’s over for Dallas (thank Shaq and Wade for that).

Jeez dude. We get it, you don’t like Kobe or McGrady. No reason to let your jealousy spout off with so much venom. If the writer would put away his childish cry-baby act about those guys maybe he’d have something to say. Otherwise, that was nothing i couldn’t have gotten from the stat sheet.

    Weak sauce.

This guy was a azz, biased, and dissed Kobe to the fullest. But for some reason, I respected his honesty… and kind of liked him. T-mac is the softest player in the game by the way… him and his cousin vince.

…I think if any Laker fans are at the game, please do us at Lakernation-ites a favor…put on a DAVID WEST mask on,a picture or…better yet,

    be afraid. be very afraid!

  • Lakers 24 7

The Lakers not only did a good job of shutting down T-mac, but also shut down Artest, and kept Yao below his average. Thats 3 stars.

Q: Who really is Billy Kupchak?

    clue:

“Add it up: That’s four stars, in five games, averaging 10.4 points per game while making just 22 baskets on their combined 74 shots.”

the correct answer <~ gets to sit behind the bench during this season with me @ Staples Center
