wtfkg.jpgHere’s an article out of Chicago that talks a little about KG and the Lakers. It also speculates on reports which suggest Taylor told McHale to get a KG deal “done.” Lastly, Bulls are expected to continue/open up talks about KG:

Chicago Sun Times: Unlike last July 1, Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles aren’t on any covert flight to an NBA outpost in hopes of landing a superstar free agent today.

Not only are there no Ben Wallace-type big men available, but the Bulls also don’t have the salary-cap room to accommodate such a marquee signing when the league’s annual shopping spree starts today.

That’s not to say Paxson isn’t thinking big this summer in his pursuit for a veteran post presence.

Kevin Garnett still is very much available after the Minnesota Timberwolves tried in vain to trade their superstar before the draft Thursday. Reports out of Phoenix are that the Suns — Garnett’s supposed team of choice — are done trying to deal for him after predraft talks broke down. The Los Angeles Lakers, still trying to placate Kobe Bryant and his demand that the team add some serious star power, are still said to be very interested in Garnett. But the Timberwolves already have said ”no thanks” to a package of Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom, and adding the Lakers’ Luke Walton in a sign-and-trade likely won’t change their minds.

Garnett’s main condition was a warm city…….last time I checked Chicago is not a warm city

  • lakersforlife77

In order for the bulls to even match the salary they would have to atleast include a signed-and-traded PJ Brown or Ben Wallace. Why would a rebuilding team want those two players

  • shibernibber

I don’t understand why the Bulls are always in these trade rumors. They have a good young nucleus. Why would they want to mess that up for an aging player?

  • kgmvp

nah chicago is a cold city and your right they have to include pj and ben so get chicago out of the kg sweepstakes.

That’s a good one. The Bulls. The windy city over southern cali beaches. Common now!

  • lakerfan81

Chicago has everything Minnesota wants. Young talent (deng, Gordon, Thomas, sephalosha etc). Noah, Who is overrated, just an energy player. I’d like to have on my team coming off the bench though. But to make a trade they would have to get either Nocioni or Brown to agree to a sign and trade. Brown makes more sense because it would essentially be a expiring contract for Minn. But brown already said that he is either going to retire or play for a contending team, I would guess, Detroit or San Antonio.

    LAKERS WONT GET KG!!!
Bynum and Odom is already to much and walton to!!??? dont overpay a old hall of famer

  • LAKobe4Life

Last time I checked, the Bulls regarded Kirk Hinrich, Luol Deng, Ben Wallace and Ben Gordon as “UNTOUCHABLE PLAYERS.” I’m sure Timberwolves would want to include them in the deal for Garnett, which won’t happen. I think the Timberwolves are sooner or later gonna fold and accept the Lakers offer because Phoenix gave up, Golden State isn’t gonna happen, Chicago won’t give up their untouchable players, so it’s inevitable, they have to deal KG to the Los Angeles Lakers. Why are they saying it’s a package of only Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum? I thought the package was Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum and Kwame Brown. That’s a good deal for KG.

  • dlakerfanforlife

People just forget about KWAME. Thats all. Its an easy oversight. He sucks so he really does count except for the fact that he would gives the wolves cap space because of his expireing contract.

  • Agor711

i don’t see how the bulls can get Kevin Garnett because John Paxson said he didn’t want to gut most of his team to get Kobe Bryant and you know Mchale is going to want a lot of that young nucleus so i don’t see chicago giving up those players for Kevin Garnett

  • kb24mvp

    a.k.a windy city lol.L.A. a.k.a sunshine state

  • http://www.hehatemeisgod.com Hehateme

Mchale is such a bitch. The only team the Wolves can trade KG to is the Lakers. The only one stopping this is that damn Celtic McHale. The Laker deal makes sense for the Twolves and I personaly think Bynum and Odom are too much to give up for KG. The hell with Mchale just give him Kwame and Bynum. There’s no way in hell KG plays for the Wolves again. Mitch Kupcake you have the upper hand you moronic fool. Do not fold to that bitch Mchale.

  • LETSGETKG2LA

Hehateme my oppinion is that therer both sucky GM’s and they can’t deal with eachother. What i hope will happen is that Chicago stays put- not because I want Lakers to get KG, because Chicago is already a really talented team, just like the Suns, that don’t need someone like KG and should’t sacrifice there talented players. Lakers on the other hand, aren’t winning at all and they have reasons to get a superstar. I dont like the fact that teams that don’t need a superstar are thrown into this. By the way, KG didn’t say for a fact thet he wants a sunny city, he just picked a few, Lakers and Suns, that he would like to go to more than others. Well i hope Bitch Cupcake can get something done, if not lets land Kidd, JO, or Chauncy Billups if detriot doesn’t find the cap to sing him.

KG is gonna be a laker….

  • RC

Laker fans, KG will not come to the Lakers. Listen to this, the lakers just signed Coby Karl (son of George Karl, Nuggets coach) to a free agent contract.

Now that is a mistake waiting to happen. As soon as cancer Coby Karl gets lonely, he will call his father and give away all of the Lakers secrets, and the Nuggets will end up beating the Lakers in the regular season or the playoffs. The Lakers front office are the most stupid idiots (I agree Kobe) in the NBA. Hire George Karl’s little spy, his son, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID.

And you KG fans think KG is coming to the lakers, not with this lakers front office, wishful thinking, PAY ATTENTION, they are idiots (and Kobe said it)!!!!!

  • MCADAMS711

Kwame is too much to include in the deal for KG. Kwame is on verge of great success; in fact, I guarantee Kwame is an all star next year. He is a true champion at heart and with his great defense and soft touch around the rim, he is destine for the Hall of Fame. Why trade a young hall of famer for an old hall of famer? Doesn’t make any sense. If the Lakers keep Kwame, they can expect him to receive the finals MVP. Don’t even get me started with Bynum and Odom, aka the next Kareem and Magic. Just stay put Lakers because the NBA Finals are on the horizon!!!

My goal is to bring quality players to the Lakers and tell like it is, it is respectful to disagree with strong points on both sides. Yes, as GM of the lakers, I would ship out everyone on the team except Kobe (as starter) and the following BENCH players (Walton, Turiaf, Evans, Farmar, Mihm).

The rest of the team would not be welcomed and they would all be placed on a first class cruise line with a letter from Kobe, stating go ahead and “SHIP their asses out”. You dig it BRO!!!!!

  • lakerfan81

Kwame a all-star? I don’t think will happen. But I do think if he stays his numbers will be better next season. He isin a contract year so will have more reason to succeed. Also in the last 2 years he has improved a lot on the defensive end. He is at about the right age to start to come into his own as an NBA player, for a big man out of high school. His trade value is low right now though because of his recent surgeries. He has to prove that he can come back strong from them, which can not happen until July. So I think there is a good chance that the Lakers keep Kwame and trade Odom and Bynum. They probably will resign Mihm, but for much less than what he’s asking. He will see that no one will offer him that much and resign with the Lakers probably for about 2-3.5M a year.

The JO trade is still on the table and they may ultimately take that. The problem is that JO and the lakers will have to come to an agreement on a reasonable contract extension. (probably round 3 yrs 40-45M). Its just a matter of if he is willing to take it.

The other option, perhaps better option, is trying to pry Gasol from Memphis. We have the asset in Bynum to do it if Gasol really pushes for a trade. A Bynum, Conley, Gay trio might be pretty good in a few years. I think Bynum has a good chance of being a 18 and 10 guy (perhaps better) and a good interior defender. In the meantime Odom can put up similar numbers to Gasol if he has the ball more often, (at times he looked lost with Kobe) assuming his shoulder is better.

Charley Rosen and Phil are real tight. Charley wrote an article today about the best spot for KG is Los Angeles playing with Kobe, I think the Lakers already have a trade in place that brings KG to LA. Taylor always said he would do right by KG and I think he has. Plus no way Buss hands Luke 6yrs 30 mill. unless he knows Kobe aint going anywhere. KG makes Kobe happy, together they make Laker fans happy.
    Opening Night Starting Lineup
PG- Looks like Blake, want Mo Williams
    SG- GOAT
SF- RC u wont like this but… Luke
    PF- The Big Ticket KG
C – I have no clue need some suggestions

Laker2421 so u think if the deal hadn’t been done the article wouldn’t’ve appeared?))…I feel u then homie)

Laker2421, in YOUR starting lineup you have Blake, Luke and no clue for Center, thus it looks like you have 3 BENCH players in the starting five. Even with the MVP and KG, there is no chance beyond the 2nd round, you have to understand BENCH players like Blake and Luke need to come off the bench!!!!!

  • laker2421

First Deep Frost I truly believe KG
will be a Laker if he’s not already. Second RC I feel you about blake and luke being bench players I just think we don’t have better options. PG I want Mo Williams, never gonna happen. SF I want Artest, this is possible. I still say KG is a good start and watch for Chauncey Billups if he doesn’t sign w/the Pistons right away and KG comes sooner rather than later Chauncey B could take our MLE him and KG are tight.
