Here’s an article out of Chicago that talks a little about KG and the Lakers. It also speculates on reports which suggest Taylor told McHale to get a KG deal “done.” Lastly, Bulls are expected to continue/open up talks about KG:
Chicago Sun Times: Unlike last July 1, Bulls general manager John Paxson and coach Scott Skiles aren’t on any covert flight to an NBA outpost in hopes of landing a superstar free agent today.
Not only are there no Ben Wallace-type big men available, but the Bulls also don’t have the salary-cap room to accommodate such a marquee signing when the league’s annual shopping spree starts today.
That’s not to say Paxson isn’t thinking big this summer in his pursuit for a veteran post presence.
Kevin Garnett still is very much available after the Minnesota Timberwolves tried in vain to trade their superstar before the draft Thursday. Reports out of Phoenix are that the Suns — Garnett’s supposed team of choice — are done trying to deal for him after predraft talks broke down. The Los Angeles Lakers, still trying to placate Kobe Bryant and his demand that the team add some serious star power, are still said to be very interested in Garnett. But the Timberwolves already have said ”no thanks” to a package of Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom, and adding the Lakers’ Luke Walton in a sign-and-trade likely won’t change their minds.
