Here’s a blurb from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that gives us some hope that the Lakers are actually interested in smart-minded basketball players. Doubt we have a chance to snatch him with the MLE but trading him for a player like Vladimir Radmanovic would make for a nice trade. ;-)

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Agent Mark Bartelstein, who represents Bucks free agents Mo Williams and Charlie Bell, said Tuesday that talks were ongoing for both players.

“We’re having a lot of conversations for both,” Bartelstein said. “We’re just pursuing everything right now.”

Williams is an unrestricted free agent, and Bell is restricted. Harris has said the team wants to retain both players.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers have indicated interest in Williams. But all those teams have salary cap issues and could not offer more than the mid-level exception ($5.5 million per year).

The salary numbers for Williams could come into focus now that the Detroit Pistons have agreed with point guard Chauncey Billups on a five-year, $60 million deal, according to an Associated Press report.

He wants 8-10 million a year. Not getting him.

GET MO WILLIAMS!!! Wonderful rotation of PG’s between Williams & Javaris. i LOVE Farmar….but we might lose him to trade bait. but Williams is what we need….aggressive, passer, scorer, smart, strong, young, and experienced. GET MO WILLIAMS!! i think he’d be willing to take a paycut for this yr if he knows he’d be playing alongside Kobe and Garnett!

The chances of Williams taking a MLE contract when he has already been offered 5 yr 40M contract are small. He holding out to see if he can get a bigger contract. It would be nice but its bot going to happen, Sign an trade maybe, but I don’t know if he have anything Milwaukee wants.

  • kim

i hope we get MO, and it would be a smart choice for him to sign a5 mill contract with the lakers because eventhough its not that much money, then if he plays a good season then he will get a lot of money because of commercials.

lol if we get garnett all we’ll need is a 3 player lineup Mo Williams, Kobe, and Garnett – everyone else can be reserves when someone gets injured or sick of winning every team by 50 points =]

  • RC

The one and only RC is back, for Mo Williams, I would provide him with the Max MLE and give some of Luke Walton’s money as well.

This is a player I approve of, do a sign and trade and make Milwaukee happy. Mo Williams, unlike soft Walton and ridiculous Steve Blake, get my RC stamp of approval!!!!! YHIHF baby!!!

I like Mo, but who do we have for a sign and trade? Kwame and Farmar? Vladimir and Farmar?

  • RC

RC approves Mo Williams, jerry buss get off the toilet and make it happen.

We lakers fans don’t give a shit about Steve Blake, Luke Walton re-signing, we CARE about a player like Mo Williams. So since we care, YOU WILL DO NOTHING, like you won’t do anything about KG, JO, Pau Gasol or Ron Artest.

But you can draft Marc Gasol (throw a parade), you can draft Sun Yue (throw a parade), overpay Luke Walton (throw a parade) and probably overpay Mihm (throw another parade), the buss family should NOT be in basketball any longer!!!!!!

hey everyone, i’m not sure if this projected lineup would work, but is it possible and what do you all think?

    Fisher
    Kobe
    J.O
    Walton
    Artest (I wish)

    Remy,

Your lineup is a nice, but Artest and Walton play the same position, so put Walton on the bench and provide a Center to play the remaining position.

Fatty, I was not saying that we could do a sign and trade for Williams, I was just trying to point out that a sign and trade would be the only way we could get Williams.

Once again Lakerfan81, you are nicely thinking out of the box, but do we have our front office doing that. I would say the buss family and mitch are taking this week off and next week. They’ll get back to work after July 11th, when all of the free agent players are GONE!!!!
