Here’s a blurb from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that gives us some hope that the Lakers are actually interested in smart-minded basketball players. Doubt we have a chance to snatch him with the MLE but trading him for a player like Vladimir Radmanovic would make for a nice trade.
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Agent Mark Bartelstein, who represents Bucks free agents Mo Williams and Charlie Bell, said Tuesday that talks were ongoing for both players.
“We’re having a lot of conversations for both,” Bartelstein said. “We’re just pursuing everything right now.”
Williams is an unrestricted free agent, and Bell is restricted. Harris has said the team wants to retain both players.
The Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers have indicated interest in Williams. But all those teams have salary cap issues and could not offer more than the mid-level exception ($5.5 million per year).
The salary numbers for Williams could come into focus now that the Detroit Pistons have agreed with point guard Chauncey Billups on a five-year, $60 million deal, according to an Associated Press report.
