Another update from the Times:

The talks turned into discussions about a four-way deal among the Lakers, Minnesota, Indiana and Boston, in which the Lakers would have gotten Garnett. However, the deal broke down, reportedly because the Celtics didn’t like what they would have gotten, ending the four-way negotiations.

The Lakers are now back to direct two-team talks with the Timberwolves. However, sources say, Minnesota General Manager Kevin McHale wants young players and high draft choices and isn’t keen on the Lakers offer of Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom.

• Matthew

Yeah, this doesn’t surprise me. Boston was getting screwed in that other trade. Now that the 4 way has broken down, the Lakes don’t have the pieces.

• Jay

It was to good to be true…

• pLzDoNtLeAvEkObE

if its young players why not take lamar out and offer them bynum, kwamee and farmar though it would suck to see him leave but s**t its KG and well if they really want it top it of giving them Odom like i said its KG!!

• Laker-i3uddha

damnit… Boston killing our shot…

• Matthew

Latest rumor on ESPN was the same as the original 4 way deal, but leaving Jefferson out.

• Conor

I saw that too…leaving jefferson out….If we have to throw in farmar to minny…or get boston another pick…i dont care just get it done

• juan

leaving jefferson out would bode better for the Celts…jefferson and j’oneal.nice core.

• 2k8kb24

tell them to buck up!!!

• Matthew

Better for Celtics, much much worse for the Wolves.

• kobe24kg21

How is this bad for the celtics???? they get JO. they have a perfect duo of paul pierce and JO. they shouldn’t be complaining. if this trade doesn’t go through i will be heart broken

• nate

much much worse for Lakers if they trade with Wolves

• nate

the 4-way deal was good…pacers should have thrown in granger or greene for the celtics

• nate

this sounds weird, but kwame, bynum, farmar high draft picks for garnett would be an absolute steal for Wolves. it wouldn’t work anyways, you morons that came up with this cause the salaries and crap don’t match up. even though garnett has a huge paycheck, we can’t overpay. if we do and garnett gets a bad injury and gets sidelined for over half the season, we would suck and might not even make the playoffs let alone win a championship

• cyrus

Don’t give up so fast guys, you’re underestimating those “old bones” Jerry Buss, it’s Lakers tradition to land big tickets, he will pull this one through, I trust him .
Garnett has a house in Malibu and probably he’s living there right as this deal is happening. He wants to be in LA after 12 years serving the Wolves with dedication. Wolves owe it to KG to respect his wish.

Never mind McHale, He’s a former Celtic and doesn’t like the Lakers, he is not above the owner and his record in managing is too poor to make his voice be heard in this deal. McHale is on his way out and this is his last year with the franchise.

KG to LA? YES, absolutely, don’t doubt it. It’s the “Law of Attraction”

• http://www.hottopic.com Mr.47

Crap, this post just messed w/ my high. Had to be Boston to screw something like this over.

I’m counting on your MITCH, keep things ALIVE.

• lakerfan81

I still think something can be worked out that works for all teams, why not try some other teams with a high draft pick. Or maybe stil lsomething with Boston. As far as McHale not wanting to send KG to the Lakers he does not have much choice anyways he’s not getting Amare, and I wouldn’t not take Marion, he is way overpaid. He should be making 10 million at the most not 17. Boston won’t take a KG trade because he will opt-out. We just need to figure out something that works for Boston. Besides, O’neal to Boston to match up with Peirce is only a step below Garnett. Come on Dr. Buss and Mitch make something work.

• decade

DO IT AND DO IT NOW DAMNIT!

• kamran

Here’s a 4 way trade that works on ESPN’s trade machine. Boston wouldn’t have to give up Jefferson. Minnesota would get Boston’s #5, the Lakers’ #19, Gerald Green, and the expiring contracts of Theo Ratliff AND Kwame Brown. Which team wouldn’t do this?

• marky

please do something! This has to be done! Please God…put KG in LA!

• Conor

ESPN isnt running “Lakers would aquire Minnesota F Kevin Garnett” across the bottom anymore

• LAPride

If Mitch can broker a deal without giving up Lamar, for KG that would automatically make us title contenders. if not we have to get artest, we should trade cook for artest since bonzi wells wants to stay with rockets because Luther Head is just not enough for smart Laker Fans, we need ron artest. Then we sign Grant hill, steve black or charlie bell for the minimum., resign Luke, and we difinitely look intimadating. Please Get Artest and KG, Mitch!

• TheMagicMan32

I’m glad we finally have real talks about trades. not stupid speculations. Kobe must be a little satisfied for now…

• LAPride

KG will have to march to Mchales office and demand this to work, they will obliged since he was loyal. Expect KG in a Laker uniform, the ball is on KG court its all up to him. Please Make a DEMAND KG!!!!!!!

• http://Lakers.com Ed24

I told you guys this was all for show. The NBA wants to make everything interesting and confusing. I knew all along that the Lakers would land KG. I have a quesion for you guys. Isn’t someome from the wolves going on his honeymoon tomorrow? So doesn’t that mean that the deal needs to be done today? If this is true than that means that there is more pressure on everyone to make a deal and that could lead to stupid decisions by the wolves, like taking Kwame and Andrew for Garnett. If I was Mitch I would use this for my advantage. My Mitch pull something out of your magic hat.

KOBE IS THE GREATEST PLAYER IN NBA HISTORY

• Matthew

It’s not happening guys, give it up.

• Joe

PG: Billups
SG: Kobe
C: Garnett
PF: Artest
SF: Grant Hill

WOW! All-star lineup

• Fredos

*beep* McHale. I say let him have Garnett for a year and wait ’til it all blows up in his face.

• lakerfan81
PG: Billups
SG: Kobe
C: Garnett
PF: Artest
SF: Grant Hill

WOW! All-star lineup
???? Can’t happen. Besides that you can’t start ron artest at PF.

• GC

so is this going to happen or not?
i seriously hate drama. for once, i got a bit excited since the trade actually seemed possible. i still say keep lamar and get JO.
we need a solid core.

• lakerfan81

I think Chad fords four team trade works. La gets KG,works for La obviously, Indiana gets Lo and Bynum who they apparently wanted for JO anyways. Boston gets Jo and gets to keep Jefferson. JO and Peirce if they are both healthy will diffinately make the playoffs in the eastern conference. Minnesota although the do not get as much talent if you do not include al jefferson get 3 draft picks in a loaded draft, a good y oung players and about 20 million in cap space after next season. It leaves the lakers really thin up front and they would really be depending on Mihms ability to play again but they do have the MLE and 2 2nd rnd picks to fill in a couple of roster spots. I don’t know if they would contend but they would diffanately be better and with a core of KB/KG, would be able to fill even more spots the next off-season

• Matthew

The Wolves would not get cap space. Even if Garnett was to opt out (if a trade was not to happen), they would still only be about 4 million under the cap. If they trade for expiring contracts and draft picks, once you factor in the rookie deals they would not be under the cap at all.

The Wolves management are horrible drafters, so picks are not enough. They need proven young talent.

• http://thrrhtrh joge

mitch we believe in you please get it done
Pg farmar
Sg mvp Kobe
Sf walton(MLE)
PF Garnett
C ronnie

I really like that lineup better than the stupid suns

• http://thrrhtrh joge

lakersfan81 lets be realistic but it would be nice

• Danny

Here is a trade that takes Boston out of the mix:

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2748~617~1016~2421~615~261~998&teams=11~11~16~11~16~13~13

It Sends Bynum Sasha Vujacic and Odom to Pacers

Vlad Rad to Minnesota

Jermaine Oneal to Minnesota

Lakers get Trenton Hassle and KG from Minnesota…

Ofcourse Lakers should send Minnesota this years first, next years first and the year after that. And try to get Pacers to give up a first here or there.

MAKE IT HAPPEN MITCH!

PS if we have to we can send to Sasha (to Minnesota), or if that doesn’t work we can send either of them Farmar instead of Sasha (I would hate that cause Farmar is going to be great in a few years, but then so would have Bynum).

• lakerfan81

I realize that. cap space is not the correct word to use. Even if you count in rookie salaries they would still be cutting about 13-14 million. I haven’t added it up exactly, but thats what it would be roughly. Plus with the #5 and #7 spot they could fill two needs; a PF and a PG. Also in the deal that chad ford proposed, they would be getting rid of a bad contract in marko jaric. Granted the lakers would be taking on that bad contract but right now anything is an upgrade at PG. (hell i’m almost an upgrade and I’m a short fat white guy, Ok im not that short or fat). It’s not Ideal for minny and other trades might be worked out. But as much as McHale says he is not actively shopping KG, he obviously is and will ultimately have to trade him or get nothing in return. It is a long shot, but all trades are long shots. I don’t think it will happen but it is possible.

• Rpoc

JO and Pierce together in the East is good. Damn Ainge.

Bucher is still a bitch.

• Danny

Or:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=2748~617~1016~2789~2421~615~261~353&teams=11~11~16~16~16~16~13~13
which gives up Sasha and Ronny to Minnesota and instead of getting Hassle we get Troy Hudson who apperently wants out if Garnette is out.

I like it:
Hudson
Kobe
Luke
KG
Mihm

as our lineup Got Kwame backup center, Cook backup PF, and Farmar backing Hudson maybe get Grant Hill to sub for Luke and get Aaron McKie to start playing rather than ride the bench to backup up Kobe. (But always have Either Kobe or KG on the court at all times). Or get a streaky shooter from the draft in the second round (don’t we have a shooter in the DLeague?)Man, I like our chances…

MAKE IT HAPPEN MITCH!

PS Can send Ronny to Indiana if Minnesota gets to many players to not fit on their roster.

LAST ONE:

JUST Minnesota and LAkers:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=261~2748~617~1016&teams=13~16~16~16

Odom ANdrew and Vlad Rad for KG…

Andrew would be a 3rd Overall pick if he was in the draft… I think this should be good too!

• kenshi1023

lakers is trying to land kg, but kobe is still not happy wtf? he still wants out no matter who lakers get!!!

• kb24

kobe is happy if we land kg. bucher is jss a lil fag saying kobe will still wants out. bucher is out to get the lakers. hope he gets fired

• LAKingKobe

When you think about it, Kobe’s playin it smart. He’s continuing to say I want to be traded no matter what, just so the Lakers can get a Garnett at a good deal, without giving up too much, so nobody would think they’re desperate. If Kobe said I’ll be happy if KG comes to the Lakers, then the other teams are gonna demand more from the Lakers to keep Kobe from further demanding a trade. I really do believe the Lakers are gonna pull off this deal, I’ve always been optimistic and it’s really close to paying off. This is the Timberwolves last chance to get something out of Garnett cuz he’s 100% NOT gonna re-sign with the Timberwolves. Besides, Kevin McHale doesn’t seem to have anymore power on who goes and who stays considering the fact he’s taken this team to nowhere and Garnett has continued to stay loyal to them. McHale owes it KG to let him go to the best suitable destination, which is the Los Angeles Lakers.

• jorge

give us more reports we want kg in LA im from canada at i hate steve nash lets get kg and kill the suns next year. And if mitch cant make any trades there goes his career and kobe.So the whole laker nation will hate him.So trade odom bynum 19th pick and 40th pick and brown and cook and get garnett blount and hudson, and resign garnett to a 7 year deal worth 23.5 mill/year and sign walton with the mle 5 mill/year for 6 years and cupkake and Dr.Buss will look like guiness LAKERS4life kb24=mvp kb24 kG21=CHAMPIONCHIP

• DIGI

How about this…
Lakers get: KG

Minnesota gets: Al Jefferson, Kwame , #5 pick

Celtics get: Bynum, Odom, # 19

• http://thrrhtrh joge

i really like that trade idea DIGI it might judt be the trade that will happen to boston Bynum, odom and 19th pick to minny al jefferson kwme and 5th pick to lakers kevin garnett!!!!!!!
LKAERS4life

• RoeBoat

QUESTION IF THE LAKERS GET GARNETT IS THIS THE END OF THIS SITE.MAYBE A GET BILLUPS. NO THATS NOT CATCHY.HOW ABOUT NEXT YEAR LAND ELTON BRAND.OR IF KOBE STILL WANTS OUT MAKE A TRADE FOR WADE.SEAL PHIL(JACKSON) SINCE HIS CONTRACT IS UP.DONT KNOW BUT IM SO HAPPY OF THE FACT WE MAY GET HIM I GOT JOKES!!!

• FV

You guys want the Lakers to give up Kwame, Lamar, Bynum, AND the 19th pick for KG? You want to give up every single tradeable piece?

• nate

not every one. we could still give up either Walton 2nd round pick OR Cook Radman for Artest.

KG KOBE ARTEST = YOUR 07-08 NBA CHAMPIONS!!!

C: MIHM
PF: KG
SF: ARTEST
SG: KOBE
PG: BILLUPS

DON’T JUST STAND THERE. WORSHIP IT… WOSHIP IT, I SAY!!!

• kgmvp

I THINK THIS IS A DEAL THAT WOULD WORKOUT WITH PACERS,WOLVES, AND LAKERS
LAKERS GET: KEVIN GARNETT
PACERS GET: LAMAR ODOM, ANDREW BYNUM AND KWAME BROWN
WOLVES GET: JERMAINE O´NEAL
WHY WOULD THIS TRADE WORKOUT
INDIANA IS WILLING TO GIVE US JO FOR LO AND ANDREW BYNUM
FOR T-WOLVES THEY MAY HAVE LOST KG BUT THEY HAVE A REPLACEMENT WITH JO
I THINK THIS TRADE WORKS OUT FOR ALL THE TEAMS

• Conor

How bout someone comes up with this……. FUCKBUCHER.com

• http://www.kb24.com darkice18

i hope somethin happens!!…damnit boston dont be dummb ur getting JO!!!!
