Nothing with him would surprise me anymore… Check out what Kobe had to say about the longevity of his career.

Yahoo! Sports: Kobe Bryant, 31, suggested in an extended interview with the Orange County Register that he might play into his 40s the way John Stockton did, saying…

“All the years of being here in Los Angeles with the fans and everything, and some think, ‘Aw, he’s getting older and the clock’s ticking and blah-blah-blah-blah.’ I’ve been playing for all these years, and you guys still don’t know what I’m about.”

Is anyone gonna talk about Kobe playing through his 40s? Ok, I’ll be the first.
So, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Look at Brett Favre, and football is a more physically damaging sport. Plenty of baseball players in their 40s too.
On the flip side, the Celtics days are over. They are all gonna have trouble even playing through their 30s, especially Paul Pierce (Mr. Hoveround), KG (got your ring, time to retire) and Ray (weak ankles) Allen.
Kobe and Ron-Ron are athletes at a much higher level – they’ll be around a long time if they want.

  • Short Dog

Kobe is still young. He has a lot of game left. He still has Michelle Jordans 6 rings on his check list. I’m 100% sure that Kobe wants to be considered the BEST EVER. In my eyes he is the best ever. LAKERS #1.

  • fern dog

thats right shortdog tell them whats up.LAKERS1 kobe is better than michelle jordon

You can already see Kobe changing his game even at 31. His FT attempts are down and he is perfecting his mid-range jumper. It reminds me a lot of Jordan as Jordan got older. Kobe is still an extremely effective shooter and can get to the rim when he needs to. However, he doesn’t usually need to. I think he could be an effective player for at least the next 5-6 years. I can’t predict beyond that.

I also want to point everyone to some great Los Angeles Lakers memorabilia at my client, Steiner Sports, from their championship run last season and from earlier years.

The Lakers looked pretty good in the first game other than a letdown mentally in the middle of the game. We’ll see what happens in the early going, including when Pau gets back to the court.
