Kobe Nation

Kobe NationSpecial thanks to David Brickley for writing this take and giving us the privilege to add it to GetGarnett.com. If you have an article that is Lakers related and you know that it will interest our readers, feel free to e-mail us and will add it to the blog. Thanks!

Being a diehard Kobe/Lakers fan I can’t get enough of Laker news. Regardless of the time period it always seems that ESPN has some kind of documentary or lead story involving the Lakers. The Lakers sell, and the media knows that.

When the Lakers lost this year in the playoffs people were putting Kobe down. “He can’t win without Shaq,” “the Lakers will never win,” and, “they choked.” Forgetting the fact that the best team in the league the Dallas Mavericks got knocked out in the first round, forgetting the fact that the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat not only got beat but got swept by the Chicago Bulls? You’re telling me the most dominant big man in NBA history can’t even get one win against the Bulls, regardless of injuries to Dwayne Wade and others. Shaq could have gotten one win right? Kobe did? But it never seems to be enough.

The reason why Kobe wakes up every morning at 4:30am, the reason why he comes back every season with a better game is because he wants to WIN, more than anything. More than Jerry Buss, More than Phil Jackson. Kobe will fail but will not accept failure. He is the only guy you want to go to battle with. Score 81, dish out 15 assists, or lock-down the other team’s best player. Dirk doesn’t do that, T-Mac doesn’t do that, Wade doesn’t do that, AI, Carmelo.

Everybody in the league concedes that Kobe Bryant is a killer assassin, the best player in the league, and the guy you want with the ball down one with a few seconds remaining. He is the best, not MJ but definitely this generation’s Michael Jordan. However, for this fairy tale to end happily Kobe has to be known as a winner, not as someone that was the best but never really had the help he needed.

Saying all that Kobe still went on Stephen A’s show in the wrong manner; he talked to Stephen A. as a friend. Speaking on pure emotion and frustration. When I call a friend when I’m in a tough situation, I vent. You go off and display how much angry and resentment you have. After talking to Phil Jackson he realized that he just needs to calm down and see if the Lakers can re-build that trust and get back to their winning ways.

The fact is they will and they have to if they want any chance in becoming winners in the near future. Regardless of winning, Kobe is the reason Staples Center is sold out, Kobe is the reason the Lakers have the best road attendance in the league. He is the best, and it is every NBA fans goal to see this guy in person. People at Laker games might be known as stuck up or not crazy like Sacramento, or Golden State. But, the true Laker fans are on this site and KB24.com. These are the diehard fans, these are the fans that saw Kobe shoot the Air balls in Utah, these are the fans that saw Kobe put the team on his back against the Pacers when Shaq went out. These are the fans that saw Kobe in trial in Colorado, fly back, get to the arena in the 3rd quarter, and hit the game winner against the Nuggets.

We have been with Kobe, through the Ups, and the Downs. He is the best, We have fought and argued with the Kobe haters, explained why he is the true MVP, explained to the non-Laker followers that Kobe didn’t rape anybody he was just wrongfully accused. Just like some women cry when there favorite Character in a soap opera is killed off the show, girls cried when NSYNC broke up. We as Laker Nation felt very sad and down yesterday when Kobe made that statement. It’s because the FANS have seen them through the ups and the downs. Regardless if I’ve hung out with Kobe in person or not, I feel like I know him. All true Laker fans know Kobe, he loves us, and we love him. Kobe will not leave the Lakers. Bring some guys in, and get back to contending for titles.

Because that’s all we know as Laker fans and that’s all Kobe knows is to Win and Win at the ultimate level.
