Kobe makes a believer of him

A great article from Bill Plaschke of the L.A. Times.

L.A.Times: “Watch this,” I say, standing in middle of the family room, pointing at the television.

“Watch what?” says my 14-year-old daughter, unmoved on the couch in her basketball sweats, Wednesday’s junior varsity practice complete, nothing more to learn tonight.

“They are going to throw the ball to Kobe, he is going to make a basket at the buzzer, and the Lakers are going to win,” I say.

“You really believe that, Dad?” she says.

“You know, I finally do,” I say.

After 14 years of publicly questioning and challenging and wondering about the Lakers’ bewildering star, it has finally sunk into my brain like that jumper sank into the hearts of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Goodness, the guy really can do anything.

The guy is the best player in the NBA, and, sorry, LeBron James, you have to wait.

Well written. Redemption at it’s finest.

lol @ chris posting an article that purely hates on Kobe and then following it with two articles that deifies Kobe. Bravo.
Awesome articles by the way, except for the ESPN one. Fox Sports FTW!

  • bynumite24

I like the fact they posted this article as well as the “hate” one. People that don’t think Kobe is the best are on crack.

  • TOUCHING_MYSELF

Why bother Plaschke? I mean, really? I would’ve had more respect for you had you continued to HATE on Kobe, cause then I would’ve just dubbed you as a FOOL. But noew that you’ve changed your tune, I’ve dubbed you an IDIOT! 14 YEARS! It took you 14 YEARS to realize your stubbornness and stupidity and somehow come to your senses? And this is what you do for a living! How do you still have a job, being wrong for 14 years!

Well, given that this is the Christmas Season and that Jesus is willing to forgive a whole lifetime of sins if even on one’s deathbed, one would confess and receive Him, then I guess we, Lakers fans, can overlook your transgressions as well! But come on Plaschke… 14 years?!? I hope that it won’t take that long for yo to realize that he’s on his way to nudging Jordan off of his throne!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • desecrator93

      LOL. That was funny

    • Gravy

14 YEARS! It took you 14 YEARS
      lol…. That was too great!!!

  • gugy

It’s about time Plaschke finally acknowledge Kobe greatness.
While it was a somewhat bumpy road, Kobe now is in a incredible position to assert himself as the GOAT.

  • KING

fukk plaschke. dude is a bigger laker hater than simmons, cynical/negative ass only L.A. sports writer that is a laker hater, shuldnt dude know something about sports if he writes about them everyday? stick to Angels columns douche

  • Robert

first Simmons, and now Plaschke??!?!?! What’s going on? and Kobe has had the lead for MVP lately?!??!! I don’t get it. Is it because of the Championship?

Maybe you’re all right here – they don’t want to look like ‘complete’ idiots. After 14 years of Kobe bashing, and seeing that he is the Greatest, how can they hold their heads up and call themselves decent journalists …. oh wait ….. THEY CAN’T ….

(just remember everyone – 10 years from now, when there IS no Simmons or Plaschke, everyone will look back on how great Kobe was – he will rise to a ‘legendary’ value that nobody could even dream of now)

Who knew that natives of LA would be Kobe haters too. Hey the more haters, the better. Why? What fueled Kobe last season to win the ring? The media and the critics saying he cant do it with Shaq, and he set out there and did it without Shaq. They shut up or a bit, during the offseason til the season started they started too. Here goes the media running their mouths and watch how Kobe will get them and prove them wrong.

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

Im not saying Plaschke is a hater but Im saying there are media in LA that hate Kobe, such as ESPN.

  • http://57.amklac laffs atu

is he still faking injurys…..only playing hard the last 5 minutes of games?out side of L.A….HE`S LAUGHED AT…..

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

Why do you insist on taking your time out of your non busy, wasted life, sitting behind a monitor and writing a bunch of words that are targeted at a pro athlete that does not read these comments and that pro athlete has accomplished so much and made history, and people insist on hating. Why not hate on Jordan? He accomplished more, or is it you hate on Kobe cause you fear he will be greater.

  • thanhttrinh

ur right warman, no, the more haters, the greatest, they hate because they know they cannot compete agaisnt LA , just take a look at the recent years from 2000 till today, which team has won the most NBA titles ?
We’re definitely the team to beat this season, no doubt !

  • thanhttrinh

ESPN’s articles, writers are the most haters i’ve never seen, including NBA.com and TNT’s Chris Webber
this is the example: when LA loss to Utah last time, NBA.com updated the top story right the way, while Boston loss to Philly on their fcukin’ homecourt, then i didnt se any top story about the loss of Celdicks LOL
    they’re obviously haters

    • http://LakersNation Marwan..

Yeah it hasnt even been put up yet, like 4 hours after the game, and the site updated the Lakers loss to Utah with 5 minutes left in the game, when the refs put the game out of reach for the Lakers. Its just pure hate. Say what you want, try to prove me wrong, find an article that specifically shows LOVE towards Kobe and the Lakers, until then, Im convinced that they are pure LA haters. Clippers dont even get hate from ESPN.

A few notes before the game against New Jersey Nets.

-Kobe sat out of practice and said on his finger “Its good to have a few days rest without having anyone hit on it”
-Derek Fisher likely to sit out with a sore right wrist, Farmar likely to start due to matchup with Devin Harris.
-Andrew Bynum is back home in New Jersey.
-Lakers are 20-4, best record in NBA, Nets are 2-25 worst record in NBA
-Pau Gasol and the Lakers have reached an agreement on a contract extension that will keep Pau as a Laker until the end of the 2014 season.

  • thanhttrinh

Lakers would keep Gasol till 2014 ? are you serious ? that would be great
i doubt we would pass Celdicks for the next 3-4 years lol
@ warman: man, NBA.com still not upload the Boston’s recap lol just the first half hahaha
no team can beat us at this period, i dont care what they said or whats gonna happen, just kinda remind the haters that at the end of this season, they’ll see a purple&gold team in the NBA Finals lol

Am I the only when, when Lakers sign a free agent or trade for a player, that searches up the players on Youtube and Google to analyse their game and read the feedback from the other viewers. I mean I did it with Shannon Brown, I watched like 20 videos of him and same with Adam Morrison, I was really pleased with what I saw from both of them in the videos and I was pumped up that they were traded to the Lakers. I did it with Artest too, I mean I knew he was a great player but I searched up videos to get me hyped up for the great season with Artest. So, am I the only one that does that?
