The scrimmages are over, practices are done for awhile, now Kobe returns to Los Angeles to once again face his every day life which has become very unordinary.

Judging from the dead silence on the NBA scene minus the ref scandal, many Laker fans have begun to assume that the dream to finally have KG on the Lakers is near death and if it indeed is then one person is the key.

No one can truly gauge what Kobe is thinking right now because he doesn’t have his puppet Ric Bucher speaking for him anymore, so we can only go off what he’s said and done recently. If he has begun to submit to the assumption that he will be a Laker for at least another year then he and he alone can insure is long term happiness.

Very few people in the league have the passion and heart that Kobe does, and one of those few is Kevin Garnett who is in a much darker situation than Kobe. Never made it to the Finals, 3 straight seasons with no playoffs, a Front Office even more inept than the Lakers wonder team of Kupchak and Jim Buss.

Only Kobe can talk to KG and tell him that it’s time for him to cement his place as one of the elite talents of the High School draft era of the NBA and alongside Kobe they can dominate the Western Conference.

As loyal as he is to the organization that drafted him, KG knows he’s being used but no reporter will be able to show him that, no coach, General Manager, or legendary retired player will show him that, only someone who has been down the same path can, Kobe has the passion, Kobe feels the betrayal, but will he realize that he can be the ultimate catalyst to what it is that he sorely wants?

  • twisted

true, treu but I really wonder why Kobe hasn’t talked to KG about this whole situation and if KG really does want to get traded?.?.?
by the way Kobe is gonna bring back the gold… yeaaaahhhh!!!! :D

  • Fatty

How do we now that Kobe hasn’t been talking to him already?

I’ve been thinking about trades. I don’t think Minnesota is interested in Odom’s large contract and now that the draft is over they can not get high draft picks any more. So i think right now Minnesota is planning on starting the season with Garnett on the team, unless they get an offer they can not refuse.

I think Indiana is thinking the same thing. They are planning on starting the season with O’neal on their team unless they get an offer they can not refuse. Indiana wanted Odmon, Bynum and Crittenton which is too much for O’neal. They also wanted the Lakers to take on one of their bad contracts in Murphy, which would he the worst move possible for LA.

So I think this is the team that LA will bring into training camp. But after the season starts and everyone gets somewhat of an idea of where they stand, all of these trade rumors will start up again. I think right now LA is the 6th seed in the west, as long as everyone stays healthy. If Bynum or someone has a break out season they possibly could be higher (I think thats unlikely though). I think there are only two teams on the west, besides the Lakers (who are marginally better than last season),have made trades that make them better for next season. Memphis will be better with a healthy Gasol and Lowry (I like this kid the scrappiest player in the league) and by signing Milicic. Houston is much better if they can get Scola into the NBA. This improvement becomes even greater if Miami trades them Haslem for Alston. Picking up Francis was a cheap gamble but I do not think it makes them any better. He will never pass the ball into Yao in the post then Yao will just step on him or something. But if they can get Haslem for Alston I think they are contenders.

Other than those two teams being better I do not think anyone else got a lot better for next season. I think the rankings will be

    1. PHX, 2. Dallas. 3. SAS 4/5. Houston/Jazz, 6. Lakers. 7/8 Memphis/Denver. If houston can get Haslem I think they could get into the top 3.

But anyways my point is that once the season starts everyone one will see where they stand. If Odom, Brown, and Mihm can come back strong from injuries than they become more valuable as trade pieces. If Bynum makes improvements than he also becomes more valuable. If the Lakers start of strong then they look less desperate to make a trade. If Indiana, MInny and maybe even Memphis start of their season badly then they will be much more inclined to make trades. But if the Lakers are playing well it makes them much less inclined to make a trade.

So if a major trade happens I think it will be after the start of the season.

Ahh Lakerfan81, you begin to see the light!!! Minnesota doesn’t think too much of Lamar Odom in a Garnett deal…..what I’ve been saying for weeks!!

What kills me is that fans expect Kobe to “call” KG, get him to demand to come to LA….and you’ll get a trade. The world doesn’t work like that. Fans can scream and yell, threaten to picket Kupchak’s office, boycott games unless KG comes to LA….and it will have nothing behind it because the Wolves aren’t interested in what the Lakers have to give.

  • LAKobe4Life

This article makes alot of sense. Kobe really needs to talk to KG and tell him to come to the Lakers and we can become the most dominating team in the NBA. Kobe can make it happen. Kobe has Kevin Garnett’s phone number, he should pick up the phone, convince KG to demand a trade to the Lakers and everyone will see the rise of the new dominating duo of the NBA. KB24 & KG21. Let’s Make It Happen!!!

Ive seen both play and hands down magic and byron, it can really be magic and any laker. Magic was just too good, too versatile with his size, and he just made everyone so much better.

Why do so many people misunderstand the entire situation with KG? Besides KGs “loyalty to a fault” to minny he wouldnt even consider asking for a trade. Second hes a private guy and if he did ask for it no one would likely know. Third what makes you think that even if KG did ask the FO in minny that theyll just grant his wish. Kobe verbally and publicly asked to be traded but never got his wish? Best player on the planet didnt get his wish, why would KG? Bottom line its the FO choice not the player. Minny will do whats best for them and not whats best for KG, sadly enough cuz KG deserves better.

  • saipanlakerfan

2 rings vs. 5. and if they come at you with stuff about how much better help the laker backcourt had, tell them to eat it. dumars vs. byron? not much difference, except maybe dumars d was better but byron would run you right out the gym. magic is the GOAT pg without any doubt!!!! Isaih was great, but common man, we’re talking about MAGIC!

  • louiskim

yea i know..trust me..were hardcore lakers fans and for them to pick zeke / joe d over magic / scott…i was speechless at first but yea…thanks guys..keep them coming

  • lakerfan81

Magic was the most versatile player to ever play the game of basketball. What other player could start all 5 positions. Thomas was a fantastic player but I just do not think you can compare him to Magic.

  • blackmamba1214

kobe needs to pick up the phone and tell KG, ” do u want to be like barkley and reggie miller, great players, but never get to the promise land” wake up KG

KG could!!!!! well maybe not PG but I wouldn’t put it past him. LAKERS GET GARNETT, NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually it should have been 6 rings….remember the finals of 89-90..when we get SWEPT by detroit?

that would have been a three peat FOR SURE!

But Byron goes down with hammie injury..then game 1 in the Palace….Magic goes down….no backcourt …no chance.

So it would have been 6 titles….i am almost positive.

I still keep faith that something big is gonna go down

  • twisted

people, let us be realistic.. if KG hasn’t asked for a trade so far he never will, he has shown us that he is loyal to a fault and thats it..
Minny says they will build around him and they don’t…
it is the same case with Kobe and the Lakers…
guess KG will be one of them “ringless” hall-of-famers..
    sorry fans…

TRY UR EST KOBE AND GET GARNETT NOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 3Xocho

At the end of the day, I’m afraid that KG has no desire to come to LA and have all that pressure put on him. He can not handle the bright lights that Hollywood has to offer. He much rather stay in Minny under the flashlights. So be it. Let him stay in Minny where no one will ever expect anything from him. He can just get his 20-20 under the radar.

  • Fan of the Mamba

Thanks for the website. It’s good to read serious Laker talk!
