Brian Shaw has been a much desired candidate in replacing Phil Jackson for next season. Jackson has consistently suggested this is indeed his last season and “last stand.”

Recently Kobe Bryant had some thoughts on former championship teammate Brian Shaw in regards to Shaw replacing Phil:

“I feel all of the players believe in coach B-Shaw,” Bryant said the Lakers’ Friday morning shootaround. “We have such a rapport with him. He’s been with us for such a long time. We all have a bit of a bias towards him.

Bryant and Shaw go way back and it’s great to hear the team so supportive of Brian. A great coach and man, it seems as the majority of Lakers fans would be happy with Shaw.

That would be best actually. We can actually keep the offense at least until Kobe retires.

100% Better choice then Jeff Van Gundy. A guy who never played a stitch of basketball. Shaw knows the game has played on championship team and has learned the coaching craft from the great Phil Jackson.

So did Kurt Rambis but I wouldn’t want him coaching the Lakers. He tried and failed.

I think he was at a disadvantage to begin with. The timberwolves suck! and the Lakers are a truly talented team. I think Byron Scott has failed because he hasnt been able to convert on 2 different teams and the goals of all of these teams really are different because they dont exist in the same reality….the hornets and the cavs and the wolves arent championship vyeing…..even with the hornets making it into the playoffs dsnt mean squat cuz elimination will happen rather quickly. A coach cant make miracles… the talent has to be there.

I have no problem with Byron Scott and won’t be mad if he replaced Phil, my gripe is with Van Gundy (the clown) But my first choice is Brian Shaw.
