Bryant recently held a a news conference in conjunction with the Manchester United/Barcelona soccer game in Washington D.C.

After the news conference, Bryant sat down with George Smith on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” for a Sunday sit-down conversation.

Bryant was asked about new head coach Mike Brown and the level of communication the two have had:

We’ve talked. We’ve met, we’ve talked several times, met several times. We have been in dialogue there has been an open dialogue.”

George Smith then asked Kobe’s thoughts on Brown as the Lakers new Head Coach:

He just seems like the type of coach that buttons everything up, so I think as players we’ll all be happy.”

Although he did not go into detail, this is the first time Bryant has said anything about Coach Mike Brown. Opting to say “No Comment” or not answer questions in previous attempts by the media.

Kobe’s been talking about Coach Brown for weeks, even did last month. Another mis-leading title from a wannabe lakers blog. Always playing catch-up.

    • lakerss

      when did he?

  • lakeshow4life

this is old story…fuck let it go !!!!!

  • lakerss

is there a video of this?

  • Daboss1848

    George Hill or George Smith?

    • lakerss

i’m pretty sure its george smith

      • Daboss1848

lol – it was a passive aggressive way of having them correct the article

  • laffsatu

did he tell coach brown that he won`t practice with his team-mates?

    • Oldmanflow

No. In case you haven’t heard there’s a lockout, so he can’t have any contact with the coach. You would know that if you took you head out of “LeBums” ass long enough to breathe. What he did do was have a percedure done on his knee. The same knee that prevented him from practiciing with his teammates last season. It must really suck being you.

In 2005-2006 Kobe averaged 27.2 field goal attempts per game; scored 35.4 points per game, shooting 45% from the field; winning the scoring title that year. “He just seems like the type of coach that buttons everything up, so I think as players we’ll all be happy.” Mike Brown doesn’t have the clout to control Kobe’s Allen Iverson-esque offensive mindset, nor does he have the will to do so, as a result I’m going to assume Kobe will regress to 05-06 shot-jack mode.

What a freakin idiot you are………..nevermind the fact Kobe had Luke Walton, Kwame Brown and Smush Parker in the starting lineup with him.   Kobe had to shoot that many times to carry these bums to the playoffs and 1 rebound away from upsetting the #1 seed Suns at the time.

Stop parroting everything you read and develop your critical thinking skills!

“bums to the playoffs” Mike Brown and his coaching staff will not implement a system that will utilize the Lakers talent. The Lakers roster may as well be populated by bums. “critical thinking” Phil Jackson stated Kobe wants to surpass MJ’s career point total. Considering Kobe’s age and ego, he will pursue his goal, even if it is to the detriment of his team. Moreover, because Brown is an inept clown who has a reputation of being a players coach, he will not confront Kobe. Lets review: 1. Mike Brown is an inept players coach incapable of implementing a system conducive toward a disciplined offense. Accordingly the Lakers may as well have a bad roster; 2. Kobe’s goal to surpass MJ’s career point total = higher usage percentage, field goal attempts, and missed shots; Kobe’s age = motivation to take more shots; Mike Brown being a players coach = wont confront Kobe.

fat chance guy, all Kobe needs to do to pass EVERYONE on the scoring list is average 26 points for 5 seasons, he’ll pass Jordan and Malone in about 3 years playing the same way he did last season. Plus Kobe’s ultimate goal is championships, where have you been.. he scores in his sleep lol!!

          • kileer7

“scores in his sleep lol!!” He scores via volume; Kobe shot under the league average last season. As his scoring efficiency declines, Kobe must take more shots to maintain his 26ppg average.”Kobe’s ultimate goal is championships” if Kobe’s ultimate goal “is championships” he should limit his missed shots, reduce his usage%, and allow Bynum and Gasol more opportunities to score. “he’ll pass Jordan and Malone in about 3 years” he may or may not, although, if he does he will have become the NBA all time leader in missed field goals.

“When  you do this” its extremely annoying. Kobe has matured as a player. He does not have the strength nor the quickness to be the kind of player he was in 05,06,07. Talking about passing the ball to Gasol and Bynum, Gasol took a backseat last year — completely lost his game. I would not even have him on the floor if I was the coach. Bynum’s growing ego would let alone warrant Bryant to hesitate before passing the ball to him. And just so you know, Bryant had bad ankles, knees, THE MAN PLAYS WITH AN ARTHRITIC finger!! When was the last time you shot the ball with you shooting finger taped up? Yeah, I didnt think so. Get off this page son, its called LAKER NATION — not LAKER HATER NATION.

          • kileer7

You’re a moron with little to no reading comprehension. Sigh. I am a fan of Kobe and the Lakers; “son.” smh clown

        • Oldmanflow

Mike Brown was an assistant coach with the Spurs when they had Robinson and Duncan. He plans on implementing the same low-post scheme San Antonio used with their version of the “Twin Towers” as well as some of the offensive sets he used in Cleveland, instead of “Queen Lame” it’ll be Kobe. If Kobe’s goal is to pass MJ, it can still be done within the confines of this offensive scheme. If he relies on Pau and Drew to carry the bulk of the load, it will extend his career. He wouldn’t have to average as much if he played more than 5 seasons.

      • Oldmanflow

        Good point.
