Report: Josh McRoberts Signs 2-Year Deal with Lakers

UPDATE: Marc Spears from Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Josh McRoberts has signed a two-year deal with the Lakers. Reportedly the Lakers used their mini-mid level exception to sign the 4-year vet.

According to Mike Wells, who is a Indiana Pacers beat writer at the Indianapolis Star. Josh McRoberts is on the verge of signing with the Lakers:

Ex-Pacer Josh McRoberts is on the verge of signing an offer with the Lakers.

McRoberts started his career with the Portland Trail Blazers where he only played in eight games. He has spent the last three seasons as a member of the Indiana Pacers.

In 155 career games, McRoberts has averaged 15 minutes, 5.2 points, and 3.8 rebounds per game.

The 6-10, 240 pounder out of Duke University would fulfill a need at the backup power forward position for the Lakers.

a good addition to the bench, but not the same as LAMAR ODOM. i just hope trading lamar for round picks and cash can bring a better player to LA. like D12!

  • PantasticaLakers

so we traded Lamar Odom for this guy lol wow i hope we gonna get D12 cuz otherwise this trade will b a bad trade

    • Paulcamantigue

We didn’t trade for this guy you dumbass.

  • Realdang13

Seriously McRoberts!!! WTF are the Lakers doing?!?!

  • bye bye brown

So I guess now they are just signing player just for the sake of signing someone, McRoberts & Gerald Green there’s a reason now one else wanted these’s guys Jim Buss suicks

    • Guest

We’re basically signing these guys for close to the minimum. What would you expect? Idiot

      • bye bye brown

Normally I don’t get into pisssing match online I find it to be a waste of time. However in this case I would like to say that Josh McRobert is a solid pick up for 3 mil. a year so on that point you are right. However Gerald Green has never proven that he belongs on an NBA team which is why no one else wants him. If it just to fill out the training camp roster and then he gets cut at the start of the season fine, but why eat up a good roster spot that could be used for a solid NBA player when we have depth isses on the frontline.

  • Luizbassani

FU*KING GREAT. Is this maybe part of the bid deals that mitch have spoke about it?

    • Lol

lmao y r there good laker fans, and dumb ones like these?

seriously. this is a good move to bolster our depth. god dumbasses these days thinking any move not involving cp3 or dwight is a bad one.

      • Luizbassani

Dude, theres no CP3 or D12 on my post. All im saying is that, those two (green/Mcroberts) are only to fill the void, but in poor way. At the end of the day, will be only 8 or 9 players to our rotation the Depeth it’s important but we need a good bench, RIGHT now, it’s just not that good enough. Who will fill the void left by LO? Matt? Luke? Kapono? The point is, all this trade thing was a lack of timing. I happy because i really don’t think Lakers need an excelent PG, we need good defense and a good year for ou buddy AB17.

        • Guest

          idiot

    • els92

Anyone besides Chris Paul or Dwight Howard is garbage? Every little move counts.

  • lakertime

I think im turning into a Clipper fan, because the Lakers management are all in the office smokeing some funny stuff

  • Nickbigbear

    Whos next KWAME BROWN?

    • Guest

      Signed already for 7m

    • saleh

      hahaha

  • els92

Josh McRoberts played well in the playoff series against the Bulls. He’s not Lamar, but he hustles and works hard.

    • Lakernation

exactly he aint LAMAR END OF STORY

      • Guest

Stop complaining about Lamar. Its done and over with. He demanded to be traded and he was. What more can you want?

  • Ocho=24

We better get D12 or else we won’t get past the second round with this team.

    • Lakernation

EVEN WITH D12 LA IS STILL SOFT AT THE PF POSITION

      • Guest

I think Pau is tougher than Rashard Lewis, and Orlando still had top 3 D that season with Dwight.

  • SH

I think these recent signings, Mcroberts, Thomas…is part of the big plan to trade Gasol and Bynum for DH12

  • THEBLACKMAMBA

to paulcamantigue. your the dumbass, lakers did trade lamar to dallas for cash consideration and draft picks you fucktard.

    • Anonymous

I don’t believe he said we didn’t trade Lamar Odom. He said we didn’t trade for Josh McRoberts. If you’re going to call someone names, at least don’t make a fool of yourself in the process. You bring shame upon the name you’ve chosen.

  • kas

are you guys kidding three young athletic players in mcroberts green and thomas is a great addition to the lakers. they needed to get younger and faster

    • Lakernation

AND WHERE DOES YOUTH TAKE NBA TEAMS ???

      • kas

three young players out of 15 players doesnt make them a young team..but look at last year the lakers were worn out and get tired fast..youth off the bench is essential

        • Anonymous

its not 3 players. We also have Character and Ebanks last years rookies and the 2 guards we got this year in the draft + Bynum is 24 years old. Thats 8  out of 15. I like it.

          • kas

yea i forgot about those too! .. but i really hope we get a young point guard

  • Anonymous

This is a decent signing in my book. He’s an exciting player off the bench. Does anyone care to defend the bench we ended up with last year? Outside of Lamar, what was there to cheer about? I recall getting very nervous once the starters were out. A healthy Barnes, McRoberts, Green (who is basically Shannon Brown with a couple more inches); it can’t be much worse than what was sitting there last season.

    underrated player.. solid pickup

  • Mr Laker19

Its just hard to get excited about the “small moves” when we havent yet made a “big move”. Lets go Mitch/Jim!

  • Joequeen Cadavid

half of the people here dont know what the hell they are talking about. first off, stop crying about lamar. he is already gone. remember how the lakers always got critizied for the lack of depth in the bench? this is them upgrading our bench with pretty good guys. for cheap. for you who think the only good trades are for cp3 and d12, you are idiots. you all panic for no good reason. let mitch be mitch. stop stressing over things that havent even happened. we all want to get d12 or cp3 without losing major players like pau, but there is no other way. its not so much about winning now, but setting up a great team for the future. one step at a time.

    • kas

finally someone that sees what im seein haha…. for real i love these players the lakers picked up..but honestly we do need a pg lol

      • Joequeen Cadavid

yes one of the few people with common sense.haha. but i agree. i love fisher and he is a great leader, but we need a better pg. i actually wanted the cp3 trade instead of the d12. we got great bigs. everyone is just caught up in the whole all start trades for d12. but we need an upgrade for pg

      • Joequeen Cadavid

  • Mike Conley

I predict that Joshy boy will make everyone forget about Lamar…

by marrying a fat ugly woman and starting an unwatched reality show about competitive finger nail painting

  • laker fan

i would rather have a same complete roster as last year and just upgrade at the point guard position lik picking Baron davis or any pg’s that are quicker and i think we’ll be good. but LO’s gone. so i think we need Andrew to be an allstar type player. because right now i think he can have his minutes without odom. and Mcbob would be a solid addition for the lost of odom. so we’ll see. lets just hope AB will be good. and we badly need a point guard . sumthing like Farmar will do i think..
