I can’t wait to read this on one of the most unique basketball minds of all time.

CDM: Jerry West had 1,501 points at East Bank High, 2,641 at West Virginia University (including with the freshman team) and 25,192 in 14 seasons (14th in league history) with the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, even though West is age 71, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see one of basketball’s greatest players score really big in 2010.

That’s when much more than his silhouette – seen in the NBA logo designed from a West action photo by New York graphic artist Alan Siegel in 1969 – will be revealed.

Next summer, the Chelyan native’s autobiography will hit the shelves. And although The Greenbrier recently announced plans to have a steakhouse dedicated to him (and filled with West memorabilia), it wasn’t connected to the book project. Timing – as they say – is everything.

“LeBron is better than Kobe”, Jerry West said.

[Comment ID #81921 Will Be Quoted Here]

Hey!!! Show some respect to the man who built dynasties, Mr. Clutch! GTFO if you wont!

This is a rarity, indeed, him being a very private person and so humble. He gets really uncomfortable talking about himself even in radio or TV interviews. It should be very interesitng to see what he has to say about a lot of things that are Lakers related.

Gerry West- one of the all time greats…

I must admit that i have LOST some respect for the guy..he said LBJ was better than Kobe for god sake =(

but that does not mean that i don’t admire and appreciate all that is has done for LA (he got us kobe)..it’s clear that i have a Kobe bias…haha

but people on TLN should respects and love Jerry for what he has done for our team and the game of BB

  • laker fan who hates flukes

    Screw west.

WOW! It seems to be about 50% positive and 50% negative as far as the reaction towards the LOGO! I think that we all should show more respect for the LOGO for all that he’s done for the Lakers and the League too! The man was, is, and probably always will be a consummate professional and gentleman and have our respect!

Having said that, I’m not surprised by the negative reactions that I’m seeing in here! It stems from a singular point of him claiming that LeBrick has surpassed Kobe as the best player in the NBA. He was wrong and Kobe made sure that the LOGO knew that he was wrong! Kobe also made sure that the media, Nike, Stern, Snaq, and LeBum knew that they’re all wrong and that the best player title still belongs to him and no one’s taking it away from him!

Look, we all make mistakes. The LOGO just shouldn’t have ran his mouth off like that. Even if he really felt that LeHype had surpassed Kobe (which is utterly ridiculous to me), he still should have just said that “LeConfiscator is rising, but until someone takes the title away from Kobe, then Kobe is still the reigning best player in the NBA!” But not everyone can be as suave or have the knowall of dealing with the media like me. Ha!
Anyway, let’s cut the LOGO some slack, let him lick his wounds, and give him the respect that he so deserves!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
