hotness!!! ^)^Jeanie’s Blog: I think at the next NBA Board of Governors meetings I am going to suggest that we change the name of the “off” season because since the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs there has not been one day “off!”

The loss in the playoffs was hugely disappointing but not completely surprising. The Phoenix Suns were at full strength and unfortunately the Lakers were never 100% healthy. Injuries kept the team from playing the way the coaching staff envisioned during training camp so the Lakers potential was never fully realized.

That, in my opinion, has created the frustration that everyone feels around here. Yesterday was one of the worst days of my professional career next to the day Magic had to retire because of HIV, Shaq was traded and Rudy T. replaced Phil as coach. I have worked in sports for over 25 years and my experience is that tensions run high and words are spoken as an outlet for anger and dissatisfaction.

While it is clear that I have no input into basketball decisions, I have expressed my opinion to everyone I work with in this organization that Kobe Bryant CANNOT now or EVER be traded from the Lakers. Even thinking about it distresses me. My message is simple — he is not going anywhere. How can you trade Kobe when there is no equal to Kobe?

A few weeks ago my brother was a featured guest on the Loose Cannons radio show airing on the Lakers home station, KLAC. He said some things that I didn’t agree with and I should have voiced my feelings to him in person as soon as I heard his comments. Coincidentally, I had committed weeks earlier to the same radio station to fill in for TJ Simers on the Fred Roggin / Simers Squared morning show a couple of days after my brother Jim’s interview. I was asked about Jim’s comments where he said the Lakers coaching staff didn’t know how to coach young players and that Golden State Warriors coach, Don Nelson, was a better defensive coach than Phil. I was protective of Phil because of my personal relationship which was not the professional thing to do. We both should have made our comments in private instead of voicing our opinions on the air. We have since discussed that very same thing and mutually decided to meet on a regular basis and not via the airwaves.

The last few hours here in the office have been quiet. I missed my dad’s telephone call before he got on a plane for China and will be gone almost a month. I will spend the next few weeks catching up on things — including reaching out to so many of our Lakers fans who have emailed and written to me. I want to thank you all for your support and keep the faith. It is a long “off” season but trust me — Lakers executives are working aggressively to return the team to championship form.

  • LAKES ON 3!

God I love Jeanie!! Never EVER trade KOBE!!!! she knows the organization is in trouble…you can sense it in her journal. My friend works for the Lakers season holder dept and he said there were about 500 season ticket holders ready to cancel if Kobe was traded…Not good.

    Lakers offseason to do list:

    1) Trade for Jermaine O’Neal
    2) Resign Luke Walton, Chris Mihm
    3) Do not trade Ronny Turiaf, Jordan Farmar, Lamar Odom
    4) Make good draft selections
    5) Sign veteran players (PG especially)

  • Ricky

Best trade deal for Jermaine O’Neal

    Package
    - Andrew Bynum
    - Kwame Brown
    - 19th pick

  • Laker_INSIDER

This was a good Article, and Kobe will be staying with the lakers

O’Neal would be a great trade and i see it happening..

Jordan Famar is going to be with the Lakers for awhile

Turiaf is well liked by all Laker Administration.

    Lamar WILL BE TRADED.

    Bynum WILL BE TRADED

Smush.. hahaha He always wanted to be a Clipper, and after seeing him talk to administration… he will end up a Clipper soon enough.

We most likely never get Garnett, but we will be getting other great players.

Kobe woke up the front office, i can assure you of that. (seen it myself).

  • Jay

I personally love Lamar. If it wasn’t for the injuries he would have been an allstar probably over Josh Howard or Carmelo. The man is a walking triple double and a phenomenal talent. People don’t realize how well he did in the Suns series, and his numbers jump out considering the leg and shoulder injuries.

  • LakerKid

I think that we have it wrong. It would be great to get JO. I think it is all on Indiana if they want something back. Remember that Kidd is still out there and wanted to go to LA but Jersey wanted too much. Forget about KJ til next year when he opts out to be a free agent. Get JO now. It would like this:

    PG : Kid
    SG : Kobe
    SF : Odom or Trade
    PF : JO
    C: Mihm/Bynum

I would try to keep Odom if I have the possiblity to get JO and trade the 19th pick and Kwame/Cook for JO. Get rid of Rdamanovic, Smush, Sasha and Mckie. Farmer will be a decent backup and so will Evans. But imagine the spread of the court if JO is one box with Kidd dumping in the ball and Kobe on the other side of the court being able to roam freely with Odom at the top.The triangle could work to perfection. I think that he could trust his teamates a little more when he takes a break and is on the bench if he can have Odom and JO on the court with. Whatever is done it needs to make us a contender. Portland and Seattle just got better with the draft and if we are not careful they are going to pass us up as well.

So long as we’re talking trade possibilities, here’s my two cents:

First the Lakers should offer Andrew Bynum ($2,030,280), Kwame Brown ($8,287,500) and Luke Walton (sign/trade: $5,000,000). With Bynum they get a young big man with loads of potential, with Walton they get a solid vet with a high basketball IQ and with Brown they get a “Get-Out-of-Jail-Free” card when his contract is up in one year. In return the Lakers would take Jermaine O’Neal ($18,084,000) and Jamaal Tinsley ($5,850,000). With O’Neal, the Lakers get the all-star post player needed to compliment Kobe’s all-world perimeter game and with Tinsley they get a veteran point guard. The reason Pacers would like this deal is Tinsley has been injury prone and he has a big contract that they could unload.

If that deal doesn’t fly, then the Lakers can take Brown and Walton out of the mix and offer Lamar Odom ($12,348,596) alogn with Bynum. The Pacers would have to take Tinsely out of the mix and just offer O’neal. The Lakers could also put their #19 draft pick on the table.

In both scenarios, the numbers work and there would be ample motivation and compromise for each team to make the deals. Each team gives something significant and each team gains something significant. Also, they would be trading from west to east, which is always the preference when moving all-star talent.

  • lamar_odom

Lamar & Bynum is too much

  • fredo

Lamar Odom and Bynum is ok for Garnett, but it seems too much just to get Jermaine O’Neal.

P.S. Have you heard the rumor that Camby could be traded for Brown. I mean imagine if we do get Camby and O’Neal. We could go from having no interior defense to having two guys who average three blocks per game.

  • purple and gold

lamar and bynum is too much!
i hope they can keep bynum, but one has to be kept for us to have a chance at a championship.
    realistic trade:
kwame and odom plus19 pick for JO and a filler
they get an almost all star and 8 million cap releif next year.
we keep bynum for the future and could play kobe 3 and evans 2 or luke 3 and kobe 2 .JO can play center so he could back up bynum and turiaf can play both.
i think the lakers are trying to get an allstar and keep bynum!

    Dear Jeanie Buss,

Thank you for posting your comments (journal) on the net, I read it at getgarnett.com site and later at your official website. I also listen to your interview at AM570KLAC a while back. You have created a very positive image of yourself lately in trying to reach out to fans.

You radio interview was absolutely the right thing to do for two reasons. Number one you questioned authority, which reveals your courage and number two you were protective of your boyfriend, which shows your loyalty. Courage and Loyalty are the basic pillars of a leaders’ character.

The ear of female dominance is in full swing, Angela Merkel first female Chancellor of Germany, Nancy Pelosi the first female Speaker of the House of US Representatives and we may soon see the first female US president. There is nothing wrong with a first female Basketball Executive and it seems to me that you posses all qualities to fill that position. You donít need a great knowledge of the game as long as you surround yourself with knowledgeable advisors and youíre sharing your life with one of the greatest Basketball minds of all times. I participate in some blogs and message boards; nine out of ten want you to take your dadís place.

I am not trying to question your brotherís (Jim) leadership but your dadís shoes are not easily filled. Unfortunately, our young ďBussĒ not only hasnít exhibited any praise-worthy action, heís shattered any hope for unity and just leadership in his recent interview attacking one of the key figures of the franchise. That is just a small incident, but it has created an unfavorable collective opinion of you brother among fans and it shows how unwise and out of touch he is.

Youíre smart enough to appreciate the fact that fans are the core of your business as you stated in your radio interview and you are keeping in touch with them. Please forgive me for saying this, but it seems that your brother is in deep sleep of narcissism. And itís time for him to wakeup, get in touch and make the right moves.

My advice to you is: Always question authority, keep in touch with fans as much as you can and never underestimate yourself. Youíre our hope and you, Jeanie Buss, are representing us, fans, at the Lakers organization.

And finally and most importantly, keep Phil and Kobe in LA.

GO LAKERS, JEANIE BUSS FOR BOSS

    Cyrus

The rumor is now there will be a trade with Indiana and Sacramento…
    check this:

    Lakers give up-
    Lamoar Odom
    Sasha V.
    Andrew Bynum
    and Kwame’s Contract

    to Indiana for:
    Jermaine O’Neal
    Jamal Tinsely

then do a swap with sacramento with
    Brian Cook for Ron Artest

If and when this is done are projected started line-up will be:
    Jamal Tinsely PG
    Kobe Bryant SG
    Luke Walton SF
    Ron Artest PF
    Jermaine O’Neal C

Thats powerful b/c u still have ronny, farmar, vlad, mim, evans(possible), and who knows who else coming off the bench!

MAKE THIS MOVE HAPPEN!!! INSTANT DEFENSIVE CREDIT AND POSSIBLE CHAMPIONSHIP CONTENDER!!!!

  • gcdeen

I laugh at all of these potential trades. Let’s be serious. Like Sacramento would trade Artest for Cook. Hey, I’ve got a bridge for sale….
