nelsonLakers Examiner: Originally thought to be out until next season with a shoulder injury, Orlando Magic All-Star point guard Jameer Nelson could possibly return for the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Different members of the Magic organization have said that Nelson is ahead of schedule with his rehab, and that he has been working out with full range of motion.

If Nelson returns, it could be a double-edged sword for the Lakers.

On one hand, Nelson torched the Lakers in their two games during the regular season, hitting clutch shots down the stretch in the Magic victory at Staples Center. So the return of Nelson would mean yet another weapon for the dangerous Magic.

On the other hand, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. The Magic have clearly figured out their dynamic. They’re working inside to Dwight Howard to spread the floor for shooters like Rashard Lewis and Hedo Turkoglu. Nelson’s more of a penetrator/pull-up jump shooter, which could throw off the gameplan the Magic have been able to execute throughout the playoffs.

Won’t matter. He will not be much of a factor(not in game shape). Lakers will win in six or less. Bynum needs to get involved defensively as well as our perimeter defenders. This will be a good series. Go Lakers!!!!!!!!!!!

  • kobe8

Shannon Brown would check Nelson. The 2 times they beat us we didn’t have Shannon and Farmar wasn’t healthy. So I’m not worried one bit.

  • JohnJohn

Momma time to check the closet for the broom. We got some trash to clean up biatc*

  • kevin 0

oh crap he definitely puts the cherry on the top

  • Eidraq

only if phil wasnt so adamant about starting fisher, we’d be much better off

  • KG

Shannon Brown is trying to hard to be like Kobe. Didn’t he also get in trouble for harassing a female? Magics in 6.

Can’t blame him… there’s no way that he can keep his pie hole shut until the Nov! We all know that the Kripple ain’t making it back to 100% next season. His knee is shot and he’ll never be the player that he thought he was! This idiot is gonna lose his adidas and gatorade endorsements! He’s got nothing left to contribute! NOTHING! STFU D!CKF@CE!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    guys, this is bad news

    jameer ripped us apart
he wont be in great shape, but he is quick, and with his penetration is gonna creat a lot of open 3s or assists for howard
this is a very bad news for us

magic match up are already tough, if nelson play good enough he could definitely put them in a great position

let s hope lakers play like game 6 in denver
    otherwise we lose big

  • JohnJohn

JaQueer will not be the same even if he comes back.

This scares me a bit. I wouldn’t be too confident and he’s been training this whole time and he said in a interview he is in shape but just not healthy when it comes to his shoulder. He was the reason they are 2-0 vs. the Lake Show. Anyways Kobe + Pau > The Magic Team. They know exactly to just get Dwight into foul trouble and the game is won. Trevor, Shannon and Bynum will be the XFACTORS in this series. LAKERS IN 6. WE ARE THE BETTER TEAM. DON’T LET THE MAGIC HYPE GET IN THE WAY!

    czlm down bi-tches.
First IF he comes back he will not be in game shape.
second, we now have Shannon Brown that will give him a run for his money
third, this is the fu-cking finals, way different than a regular season game and the pressure is 100 times bigger.
Finally, The Black Mamba will not allow the Lakers to lose it again. This is the closest he will be to win a fourth ring. He will make sure it will be in his finger even if he personally end up defending him.

This crap doesn’t really worry me. Howard and the 3 point shooters is way more of an issue than Jameer Nelson.

  • Lakezilla

I don’t care who you are, u need time to get back into basketball shape. You’ve seen it with Bynum and everyone else. The Finals isn’t a place to try and get back into shape. I hope they do this because it’ll be another plus we have on our side.

  • nick

It doesn’t matter if jameer plays, and I hope he does. We just need Bynum to step up and play Howard. No won can stop Howard, but you can slow him down. Don’t give him anything easy, let him earn it at the line. Also, they don’t have anyone on that team that can stop KOBE! I think Lakers in 6!

  • 007

I agree. If Nelson plays this won’t mean anything. I mean c’mon, just look at how tired the Cavs looked in Game 1 of the ECF. They had all that time off cause they breezed through the first two rounds. You could just tell Lebronze was TIRED. And look what happened… they LOST.

  • WifelovesLuke

What has been the biggest problem for the Lake show this season?
    1) Quick guards and penetration
    2) 3 point shooting defense.

What are the Magic all about?

They beat us both times in the regular season and look who had big games? The quick point guard and the guy he dished it to, D Howard.

Don’t live in fantasy land guys. I was rooting for the Cavs because they had no shot against us. Orlando poses big problems for us. Show excitement and pride for our team but don’t be a homer and say it’s gonna be a sweep.

  • iamthetie

Um, you guys know that he’s coming back from a torn labrum, right?

he’s not acclimated to the physical play off the playoffs, much less trying to get off a shot in a game situation. The Magic would be wise to have him sit this one out. He killed us in the regular season, but he was also playing the best basketball of his career. We know it took Lamar almost a year to find his range again after his torn labrum, experimenting with Jameer Nelson could cost them a game…and if they plan to win, they can’t give away any of these games.

  • JohnJohn

    OFF the News Wire:
Magic Johnson will suit up for the Lakers one last time. He will be taking Derek Fishers minutes due to inactivity.

  • lainok

if they suit him up and play him, that may be the most desperate move in finals history, second maybe to rambis getting clothes lined.

  • sketch

Yup, I pleading to Stan to put Jameer in the lineup! Alston is playing well for them right now and if Jameer comes back he’s only gonna disrupt their chemistry and flow. He’s quick yes, but he’s not in game shape and his timing will be sooooooo off! His passes won’t have the zip and won’t be at the right spots. You all saw how Starbury was playing… Jameer will be pretty much the same (totally ineffective!) So, I really do hope that Jameer comes back!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
