Heat were high on Crittenton at 20 & LA took him 19

The Heat were really high on Crittenton at 20 according to this article. Makes me feel even better we drafted him at 19:

Sun-Sentinel.com: If there is any disappointment about finding depth at point guard, it is how the Heat’s potential draft treasure seemingly has been brushed aside as the Lakers’ trash.

In the wake of the draft, Heat General Manager Randy Pfund acknowledged that Javaris Crittenton was very much on the team’s radar as its No. 20 selection approached.

Instead, the Georgia Tech point guard was taken at No. 19 by the Lakers — but hardly embraced. With the Heat, he would have been the future, pre-empted the debate about the NBA readiness of Daequan Cook and perhaps eliminated the need to consider the merits of the likes of Pargo, Atkins and Francis.

I don’t know what is more hilarious – the fact that we snagged him away from the “Beat” at 19, one draft choice ahead of them or the fact that they actually mentioned Chucky Atkins for a future PG option.

Heres a really good trade offer. Not my idea though. I’ll put the link as well

Andrew Bynum, Kwame Brown, Jordan Farmar, Mo Evans and Sasha Vujacic plus 2008 1st rounder for Pau and Mike Miller.

The more I think about that trade the more I like it.. Except I would try to find a way NOT to include Farmar, he has potential to be one of the best pg’s in the league through out his career. Plus they just drafted Conley Jr. why would they need farmar? to sit the bench, no Farmar needs to be starting soon. But then again how good is Crittenton gonna be, I hear he could be pretty good. I dont want to hear how Gasol is weak he is 20 and 10 on any team in the L and he is only 25…

  • lakerfan81

Here is a trade that works for all teams, assuming Memphis is looking to rebuild. Which might be the case since they were seriously considering trading Gasol to Chicago.

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/traderesult?players=981~2748~1031~3002~539~2421~130~996~558~933&teams=29~29~29~14~29~29~14~13~13~29

Memphis gets rid of all three of their large contracts. Perfect for a team rebuilding. They get a promising first center prospect in Bynum and a solid reserve in Evans. Throw in a 2008 pick plus a restricted 1st round pick anytime in the next 3 years. Miami gets a PG which they desperately need, plus they get rid of Williams who is almost untradeable at this point. They are taking on Cardinals large contract but they might be willing to do that in order to get rid of Williams and get a PG. You could switch in Crittenton if Miami would rather have him.

The lakers get Gasol. I don’t need to explain why that is a good move. They also get Mike miller who is a solid role player, a good passer and shooter. The lakers would have a pretty good starting line up. I think they could diffinately contend. Plus they still have tradeable assets in Lamar and Walton if they wish.

Crittenton will be a real good back up to Farmar. He looks pretty quick, college experienced and young.

Crittendon will come into his own when Kobe is (let’s see) 36 years old, great, Kobe should be only 2 years past his prime, hip hip hooray, hip hip hooray.

Kupcake with another great draft choice!!!!

    1. Luke Walton is soft and sucks, and for sure will be overpaid by Kupcake this offseason.
    2. Craig Cook–has he ever cooked anything on the court, NOT, no headlines ever surrounding his last name.
    3. Jordan Farmar–Definitely not living up to that first name of his, and is FAR from being a strong PG starter anytime soon.
    4. Sasha whatever–Have him wash the team’s uniforms, he sucks
    5. Andrew Bynum–I think his name is actually Andrew Project, he will be a project for his entire NBA career
    6. Turiaf–NBA cheerleader of the year, no negatives, I give him credit, to survive heart surgery, nothing else to be said Awesome

So, another few guys we drafted, Crittendon, Yue and Gasol (younger brother that dreams of his brother). These guys will be a contribution by the year 2015, WAKE UP Kupcake!!!!!!

I think trading for Gasol and Miller is better than trading for Garnett. If Memphis is interested in rebuilding and moving Gasol then I say make that trade instead of Garnett. It leaves more quality players than trading for Garnett does.

  • RC

Would you guys get your heads on straight. Kobe does NOT like Miller and technical fouled him to prove that point last year.

Kobe wants Artest, so Gasol and Artest combination YES, but not Gasol and Miller (which Kobe hates) combination.

I would take Gasol and Artest COMBO over KG, IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then go out and get a defense PG, and a Center that can defend and catch the damn ball.

  • magic32

it gets worst for the heat. its said that 3point sharpshooter jason kapono has agreed to a 4 year 24 million dollar contract with toronto.

  • lakerfan81

RC who says Kobe does not like Miller. just because he had a technical foul. People have technical fouls all the time. I think Kobe would play with Bell and he got into a fight with him. People forget about stuff like that alot easier in sports. Technically with my trade scenario you could still trade for Artest if you wanted to. But I’ve said it many times, Artest would not work with Kobe. He wants to be the go to guy and with Kobe he would not be that guy. Character matters almost as much as Talent. Artest is very talented but he has been trouble on every team he has been on. Why would it be any different for the Lakers. Look at To. Extremely talented but just a horrible teammate. You can say that Phil controlled Rodman but all his antics (if you want to call them that) were apart from basketball. Rodman was one hell of a teammate from what I’ve heard Artest is not.

LUKE WALTON IS A LAKER FOR 6 YEARS AND 30 mill

  • RC

laker81, Kobe said he does NOT like Miller, that is who said it.

Get a clue, Artest has NEVER wanted to be the go to guy, Artest believes in all around play, he brings balance both offense and defense and has criticized players like Melo for trying to think they are better than they are.

Artest would fit perfectly with Kobe just like Rodman fit perfectly with Jordan, case closed. Laker81, your perspectives are weak and way off base.

Kobe WANTS Artest and Artest wants to play with Kobe, so the marriage is in heavan, keep your foolish views with Mike (which Kobe hates) Miller!!!!!

  • lakerfan81

Artest left Indiana because he wanted a bigger role in the offense. He has said many times that he believes he can be the go to guy on offense and wants to be that player.Everyone says he is a bad teammate. Indiana traded him because he was creating problems in the locker room (and the fight). Sacremento is looking to trade him because he creates problems as well. I don’t think he would work with Kobe. But it might be worth the risk. I just think that the lakers would seriously have to consider it though.

  • RC

lakerfan81, read below, these are the facts and I can NOT make it any clearer:

aker81, Kobe said he does NOT like Miller, that is who said it.

  • RC

Lakers CAN’T get the big ticket when they piss away $30 million on a bench player (Luke Walton)!!!!!

KG is NOT coming to the Lakers and both Kobe and KG knows this.

  • BeRkS_kb24

but jerry wants to sell big ticket!i mean price of the ticket but how come ?but its ok luke is back he’s good at bench to assist kobe’s towels hehehe!

    LF81 –
I love both those trade ideas. Absolutely phenomenal for both or all teams depending on which one (straight up w/Grizzlies or 3 way w/Miami). We would improve enormously with Gasol and Mike Miller. It would be great to have a 3 in there who could light it up when Kobe got double teamed. Gasol would be a great inside presence, excellent post player and great passer. Our D would suffer I think a bit, however. I’m not sure we could go all the way with that lineup because of that. Luke and Vlad are already weak on D. Add Miller to that and you’ve got three suspect defenders at that position. Plus who starts at the 4? Lamar? Hmm. I don’t like Lamar against real power forwards. Gasol is a good shot blocker but also a little slow and not that strong. You’ve got a killer offensive team – no doubt.

But for my money I still like JO straight up for LO and Bynum. I think keeping Kwame to play with O’ Neal adds up to an insane defensive front court. That would be a hell of a lot for opposing teams to deal with. Two enormous athletic 6 11 guys is way more daunting than lanky LO with kind of lanky Gasol. Sorry, just taking it back a little. I do like your trade though potentially. If Memphis were ever willing to do something like that it would be great. But weren’t you the one a few articles ago telling me and us that Memphis has no reason to trade Gasol so he’s not on Lakers radar? I’m just asking.

  • dakobestopper

he plays with his bro. dude

  • lakerfan81

Punkjones i did say the have no reason to trade Gasol. But apparently they were considering trading him to chicago. I still don’t think they trade him though unless he really pushes. I agree with the lack of defense. But You have plenty of trading peices left to pick up a defender.

Laker fans, KG will not come to the Lakers. Listen to this, the lakers just signed Coby Karl (son of George Karl, Nuggets coach) to a free agent contract.

Now that is a mistake waiting to happen. As soon as cancer Coby Karl gets lonely, he will call his father and give away all of the Lakers secrets, and the Nuggets will end up beating the Lakers in the regular season or the playoffs. The Lakers front office are the most stupid idiots (I agree Kobe) in the NBA. Hire George Karl’s little spy, his son, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID.

And you KG fans think KG is coming to the lakers, not with this lakers front office, wishful thinking, PAY ATTENTION, they are idiots (and Kobe said it)!!!!!
