Simply put – Lakers will begin talks again for KG, and a it is rumored that Kobe will WANT to stay if the Lakers can land Kevin Garnett.

Cleveland.com: The Lakers and Minnesota Timberwolves, according to sources, are expected to resume talks about Kevin Garnett. The addition of Garnett could silence Bryant, at least until next season…

Bryant, Fisher in the backcourt. Move Chinese Magic Johnson to the “point forward”, have Kevin Garnett at the power forward, you will have to find a center (Mihm, etc). Not a bad starting five.

im a big kings fan lol, but Kobe Bryant is my favorite basketball player (it sucks when he’s playing the kings because I know every shot he takes is going in lol). I feel sorry for him for what he has gone through in his career. It would be great if LA gets KG because because Kobe and KG deserve to win more than anyone else in the leauge. LOL, Kobe could get the Lakers to the playoffs by himself, imagane how far the Lakers would go if KG and KB24 were playing together (scarey to think about it lol) Bye.

I got this message off of clublakers.com (it was linked from the los angeles times lakers blog”) and I found it interesting although I believe some of the details may be incorrect.

http://www.clublakers.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=77361&sid=d42ae788441310b9cb3234672963ad34

“Hello everyone. My name is Tom, and my uncle works for the upper brass management of the Laker organization. I am not at liberty to disclouse who he is, or what capacity he functions in the organization. However, he does mention ideas, trade scenarios, and such that Mitch, Jim and Dr. B have been proposing. Most get shot down, however he mentioned to me yesterday while watching the fireworks and spending some quality time with the family, that Mitch is actively trying to improve the roster. Please know, its not entirely his fault. Often times, teams do not want to deal with the Lakers, because they don’t want to make the Lakers better. However, in the event of not sounding too negative. I do have a silver lining to bring to everyone. Some may like these ideas, some may lash out with profanity laced tirades, but understand these are the deals that the Lakers are trying to get done right now.

Deal 1- The Lakers want most importantly Kevin Garnett to be a Laker. They were prepared to ship Bynum and Odom for his services before the draft, before Ainge backed out of the deal(a blessing in disguise). Since this time, Laker management has mulled it over, and decided that Andrew Bynum is OFF, yes you heard that right ,OFF THE TABLE for any deal involving bringing Kevin Garnett to the Lakers. The rumor that my uncle has been hearing is that Garnett is so dissapointed with Minnesota shopping him, when he was so loyal to them, that he is considering opting out of his contract next year, and signing with us for the full Mid-Level Exception(around 6 million a year). Minnesota knows this, and that is why the Garnett trade talks have heated up. Minnesota is trying to find a partner, but its difficult, since KG, who now feels betrayed is vetoing everything but Phoenix and the Lakers. Since Phoenix is not in a position to acquire Garnett, that leaves just the Los Angeles Lakers as a suitor that Garnett would accept. I am hearing that Mitch and company are waiting for the “fire sale” of Garnett(don’t worry….things are going to heat up even more). The Lakers are hoping to put Minnesota in a position, that they were in , when they let go of Shaquille O’Neal. If it happens, look out. I asked my uncle what might the deal look like then? It appears the Lakers want him now for Kwame Brown, Lamar Odom, Brian Cook and 1st rounder in 2008! We’ll see if this indeed comes to fruition.

Trade #2- Contray to what people may think, the Lakers would love to have Ron Artest in Purple and Gold. The problem is, getting him for the right price. The Lakers before didn’t want to offer Jordan Farmar, since they were wafer-thin at the point guard position. However, with Javaris Crittenton(whom many believe to be the 2nd best point guard prospect in this draft) falling to the Lakers at #19( an absolute gift), the Lakers are now in preliminary talks with Sacramento regarding bringing in hard -nosed Ron Artest. My uncle let it slip that the offer is Vladamir Radmonovic, and Jordan Farmar for Ron Artest! Sacramento likes Farmar very much, but they do not want to deal to the Lakers. However, rest assured Mitch is trying his hardest to get this done.

Mid-Level Exception- They are going after Darko Milicic for the full Mid- Level Exception, but that is contingent upon what they get for the LLE. The Lakers organization, think that with his combination of size, skills and youth, he could be a valuable player on the Lakers and thrive significantly in the triangle offense.

Least- Level Exception- This is where the Lakers are trying to lure Derek Fisher back. They want to bring in back for 2 years at around 1.5 -1.8 million a year. The fact that he knows the triangle, and is a veteran is very valuable for the Lakers.

Chris Mihm- All indications are the Lakers would love to bring him back, but now more than 2.5 million a year, and that is if he is fully healthy enough and cleared to play. If we do not get Darko(a distinct posibility), then resigning Chris becomes even more pertinent for the Lakers organization.

Please understand that all things will get worked out this summer. You can rest assured two players are GUARANTEED back in Purple and Gold: Kobe Bryant and Andrew Bynum. As soon as more details come my way I will try and post them. Although I do not want to get anyones hopes up. Please understand these are just the things the Lakers organization is working on right now. Things do fall apart unexpectedly(i.e. Garnett to LA before the draft), but rest assured they are working to get something done.”
who will be our center if we trade bynum and kwame and dont sign mim cuz we shouldnt
There will be some servicable centers available via free agency, should the Lakers trade Bynum and Brown. In no particular order, here are a few:

Darko Milicic
Joe Smith
Jamaal Magloire
Jake Voskuhl
Scot Pollard
Jamal Sampson (spent a year with the Lakers not that long ago)
Jake Tsakalidis

While the above list is void of superstars, it should be noted that, with KG at the power forward position, you don’t need a superstar at center; the Lakers would really only need a warm-blooded seven-footer, with two feet, opposable thumbs and half a clue as to how to pull a rebound out of the air. Any voulenteers?

• Cyrus

Kobe will stay, with or without KG.

• mikedeezy2k8

man
i cant wait till im able to buy a garnett lakers jersey.

• lakerfan81

This does not have to do with Garnett but everyone is talking about getting Artest. I for one do not believe the rumor that the kings are considering a Artest for Kwame ( + crittenton). Also Artest comes with all that baggage. So there is some indication that the Jazz will look to move Kerilenko to create some cap room. So how about a Kerilenko for Kwame and Crittenton or Farmar. With that trade Utah gets A back up for Deron Williams which they need because fisher left, plus they get some depth in the front court with Kwame off the bench. They also get cap space/ trading asset in Kwame’s expiring contract. The lakers get a very versatile defender in Kerilenko which they desperately need.

• http://www.getgarnett.com Rok

Hey guys… does anyone btw know what is with the summerleague webcast… They said it’s gonna be free… and now i have to pay for that?.. does any1 know why it isnt free anymore

• laker2421

So if this guy Tom is even close to telling the truth our starting 5 will look like this:
C- Darko
PF-KG
SF-Artest
SG-MVP
PG-DFish

And the bench:
SF-Luke
PG-Javaris
G/F-Mo Evans
PF-Ronny
C- Mihm

Dr. Buss should order NBA championship rings right now. If the Lakers roster looks like this by opening night Mitch should get a lifetime extension on his contract because this team will be the 2007-2008 NBA Champions!

• Faith

Why Cleveland? Where’s LA times in all this? Even Rick Puker? Of course Kobe stays if KG comes.

Why keep Bynum? he is not even a half way desent starter or player. He is not a winner. All he does is sit on the bench and when he is on the court he does nothing. He does not make the team better he makes the team worst.

But people do say he is going to be a force and that may be true, but he shown he is takeing to long to be a force. Getting KG to L.A. is very smartt by both GM’s. The reason is that KG is already good. And he will help Kobe even better then Bynum does.

If bynum turns out to be a great player so be it. You can always get Bynum back in L.A. to help out Kobe at the end of his career in L.A. Lamar and Bynum my do even better with the Wolves and this would them a chance to learn about basketball even better trust me!!!!!!!!!

This would be great for KG and Bynum and this would give them probly championship rings. KG NOW, and Bynum LATER.

If a trade for KG goes down soon and they want one of our young PGs I hope Mitch chooses wisely and sends Jordan to Minny. Javaris is gonna be good, and he has played in the triangle already.

• mfoznot

Couldn’t the triangle be run with Garnett in the post or am I an idiot? (I know, I’m making it easy for you guys).

• laker2421

Garnett would be better playing in Phil and Tex’s triangle than in any other system run in the league. KG scoring and passing out of the post would be a beautiful sight.
