We’ll wait for the official MRI results, but here is a small tidbit regarding initial diagnoses on Pau’s hamstring injury:

Press Enterprise: Although Jackson continues to insist he’s not worried about Gasol’s injury, for the first time he spoke with some urgency in his voice. Jackson said the initial diagnosis suggested that it would take six weeks for Gasol’s hamstring to fully heal, but the Lakers cannot afford to wait another three weeks to get their big man back.

Yeah. The initial prediction date was 6 weeks. That’s 6 weeks from when they first checked it out though. That’s not 6 weeks from today. No need to panic. Phil is right though. We probably need Pau back in a week or 2 at most.

    • LakersFirst

Yup, its been about 3 weeks since they last checked, so that could be another 3 weeks.

Injuries are the only thing that can stop the Lakers from repeating this year.

  • Lakers 4 Life

I know Pau wants to play but sit him out another month if he has too, we need Pau in May not in November. The Lakers are going to be fine, as long as #24 is here, were good!

    • Sean All Ivy

I agree, just don’t rush him back and make it a full hamstring tear and be out for months and months. It will help with Bynum’s development too since he’ll be our only go to big guy.

  • http://www.ld2k.com Chris Manning

Yes, no need to worry. Let him rest. Records don’t matter, championships do.

  • lakerman1

We’re fine even without Pau’ the Lakers are still going to be right there so that when he does come back they will be that much stronger. Listen to Mr Manning above.

  • lakerman1

Also if Ron keeps bringing his A game on defense there will be no need to worry. I for one am glad we have Artest so far he really looks like he just wants contribute any way he can and Defense will help the Team out a lot like it did in the 3rd against Atlanta where it turned into a dunk fest.

NIce to see someone else recognize what I feel is one of the two biggest things to watch this year.

      1) Artest locking down on the other teams #1 perimeter player so Kobe can rest.
      2) The consistent improvement of Bynum.

Haha LAker Fans. For all you hating on the Celts when Garnett was out, this is karma. Let’s see how will you go with an injured Pau. GO CELTS. gReEn PoWeR!!!

    • WifelovesLuke

The difference with Pau is that he’s injured in November with a muscle that “will” heal properly and not a serious knee injury in May.

      You sir, are a moron!!

  • lakerman1

I was with you until your last comment.

Le Prince does not have the supporting cast to get past Boston or Orlando this year.

I, for one, would love to have a shot at Boston in the Finals this year. Bring It!!!
