Fred Schaus passes

Our condolences goes to his family as we lost a member of the Lakers family.

L.A. Times: Fred Schaus, the Lakers’ first head coach in Los Angeles, has died at age 84.  Schaus’ Laker squads featuring Elgin Baylor and Jerry West went to 4 NBA Finals, losing each time to the Boston Celtics. Schaus had also been West’s college coach at West Virigina University. Following his coaching days, he spent 5 seasons as Lakers GM, and was in that role for the 1972 championship team.
