Smush is disliked because of his attitude and the way he played for the 2 years he was here, particularly it was his defense.

A guy having one big game doesn't mean anything. Even Kwame had a game where he scored over 30 points and had over 10 rebounds.

"hater" is another word that's become so overused that people don't know what it means and how to use it correctly.

i dont see how were "hating" when all were saying is that:

1) smush did not EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER save the lakers franchise

2) he had a CRAP attitude

3) he played no defense

all of these are known facts throughout several lakers boards and i am going to reiterate on #1 .... saving a franchise means putting butts into empty seats, getting a team into the playoffs when theyve been crap for several years, and/or getting a team over the hump so they can win a championship, smush DID NOT do any of these things, he was the lakers starting pg by default getting paid nba chump change and had a decent game in the playoffs where he helped win us a game in a series THAT WE LOST ... smush is not even wanted in the league anymore so why are we even talking about this


btw, luke walton is a decent player, hes just overpaid

I dislike Luke more than Smush though. Smush was cheap, and that's what you expect from a cheap player.

Luke had one good season in contract year, and got 30 million dollars somehow. He's still a burden to us today. At least we could laugh about Smush's incident with the driver.

I stopped reading @ astronomical IQ... Too bad it was at the last part.

He is so great that he is playing for the Z team (ie. D-League)
He is so great that he can't even get minutes on Miami and Clippers, and both had PG problems
He is so great that he had to choke a female because he refuse to pay $12
He is so great that he let Mike James drop 26 on him, Kobe had do drop 81 to win against the freaking Raptors
He is so great that he had the audacity to pout at the bench because his ego is bigger than his brains
...and the list goes on like the Energizer Bunny...

Every time I see that freakin German kid, I get more and more frightened.

Anyway, Smush was decent for the money, but in no way did he "save" the franchise. For what the Lakers paid they got good value. He was a D-League kind of player to being with. To expect anything more out of him was too lofty of expectations on the fans' part.

Luke is good for the team. Injuries have held him back, but when he's healthy this team runs well with him on board. The dislike for him is unsubstantiated i my opinion. But hey, that's what the forums are for, different opinions.

Luke has always been solid, despite the undeserved hatred.

The guy was hurt like hell 2 years ago but stuck it out when the injuries were coming fast and furious so the Lakers wouldn't be more men down. That year ruined him for the next and last year. now that he finally got out of the injured years, he got this foot thing. But there's no denying that with Luke on the floor the offense runs better.

He'll never be a world class defender but the guy has serious basketball smarts.

Smush for the money was alright. He gave the Lakers good value for most of the time he was a Laker. Overall though, he won't be missed.
