As long as he believes it, there's nothing that can stop him. Remember he isn't one of the most mentally tough guys out there, so he can use this as motivation to become a better player in the future.

but he can find a way to get the job done defensively over Kwame (like drawing charges or hanging in there until doberman comes in to double team the big guy)

man defense is the only thing kwame has ... but everything else he does isnt great and cancels out that man defense, especially hurting the team when they are on offense and help defense such as weakside shotblocking and steals

Skill wise, Kwame Brown is a better defender than Pau Gasol. Overall, Pau is actually the better defender. There is one main reason for this, it's all mental. Kwame Brown is weak mentally, he isn't tough, he doesn't get fired up. Get Pau fired up and he will do an excellent job defensively. Defense, in any sport, is 50% skill and 50% mental. If you don't have the mentality to go along with the skill, then you are useless. Remember the job Pau did on Tim Duncan in the WCF? Exactly. Pau was fired up, mentally strong and it helped him get the job done.

Kwa-May Brown underrated? The only thing underrated about him is that people under rate how much of a fool he is.

He is just a big body under the post, he has no basketball skill, and he can't even catch.

No, not really. Kwame is a good man defender and has his good moments, but he's not as consistent a defender as pau and he's not as good a rotator or help defender as pau. Kwame can shut down people when he tries as darth bynumite stated above, but pau has a thousand times the skills kwame has and kwame is a soft mentally (and no pau isn't soft he's just undersized). People are gonna judge pau guarding centers the whole year with the lakers and that's not fair. He's a PF playing out of position. He usually even guarded the other teams best big man and did good jobs. I still remember the game in orlando where he pretty much kept D12 in check.
